    I love when the “experts” underrate OU, that’s when we’re at our best. Yes last year wasn’t good, but as down years go it wasn’t that bad. Coach V just keeps on coaching hard and he will lead us back to the top. SOONER rather than later.

    You said they went 5-7. They went 6-7. Had they not won 6 games they wouldn’t have been bowl eligible. We lost to Florida St. by 3 in our bowl game. Just one of several games last year we lost by a few points. The Texas and TCU loses were due to our starting QB being out.

      All due respect, Gabriel is not a great qb. lets try not to pretend that the 49-0 Texas game was all because of Gabriel being out.

    • @slappinsteve3852
      @slappinsteve3852 Год назад +3

      @@Danny-ti7yy it was literally because Gabriel was out. You’re insane if you think otherwise. OU probably would have lost that game regardless. But it would have been by 2-3 touchdowns with Gabriel on at Qb. It was 49-0. Oklahoma started a fkin tight end at QB.

      @@slappinsteve3852 I was unaware that Davis Beville was a TE. Insane is thinking someone of Gabriel's level negates a 49 point margin. Texas dominated both sides of the ball from start to finish. Ya'll went with Willis halfway into the first quarter down 7-0. Beville only had a couple incompletions up until that point. Your defense was atrocious. That's the main reason for the 49-0 beatdown.

    Im excited for Venables 2nd year, and to see how these olayers respond in year 2 under a new coach. The transfers will help, and the great recruiting class last year will improve the team even more. We lost close games last year except for that ugly Texas game. I think 9-3, or 8-4 regular season is reasonable, and a surprise 10-2 is possible. The Big 12 is very balanced with talent right now so Riley got out at the right time. For me the high expectations don't start till 2024 or 25, after 3 or 4 years recruiting.

    Hype is understandable but misplaced. There was a reason why Bob kicked Venables to the curb and that's because after 2009, the defense went south. Remember, in BV's last game Okie State beat the ever living s**t out of OU and your own fans were demanding that Venables leave immediately in 2011. I have the receipts to prove it. OU's defense under Riley was on par with Stoops' last 4-5 and remember LR was saddled with Mike Stoops for the first 2 years. Once AG was brought in the defense actually improved two years in a row before falling back in 2021.
    OU won 100 games in the last 10 years for sure but many of those wins were thanks to Riley. Yes BV got a Top 5 class BUT WITH NO ELITE DEFENSIVE LINEMEN JUST LIKE STOOPS IN THE 2010'S AND LINCOLN RILEY WHICH IS THE REASON WHY OKLAHOMA'S DEFENSE HAS BEEN MEDIOCRE AT BEST FOR OVER A DECADE. LeBlanc is gone by the way and those 2 have not signed yet. By the way, I don't remember the 5-star DL who ended up going to TAMU in 2021 but he was the same guy who decided not to go to OU after LR and AG left but would have signed had he stayed. And once he picked the Aggies, your OU fans sent death threats his way. Classy fanbase.
    OU had the eighth most talented roster in the country last year. USC. had nothing close to that so there was zero excuse for OU to s**t the bed as often as they did, including getting crappier on defense. By the way, USC lost 3 games last year, not 5. Heck, if OU lost 5 games last year that would have been an improvment over what y'all got. Maybe LR isn't good in the 2nd half but never was he down 49-0 to anyone.
    We can pretend all we want but the fact is USC went from 4-8 to 11-3 in one year. OU basically did the opposite with far more talent and a defensive genius.
