Lincoln Riley just seemed “off” in 2021. Suspect play calling, strange personnel decisions, just extremely unusual. Looking back and knowing more know, it really seems that Lincoln had one foot out the door once OU said they were SEC bound.
He knew he wasn’t a good enough coach for Oklahoma so he left for a shitty program that’s happy to win 10 games a season. Oklahoma expects championships and Riley knew deep down he didn’t have what it takes.
Reiley sabotaged Rattler because he wanted Kaleb to transfer with him and knew Rattler would transfer thinking he would hurt OU for going where he did not belong. The SEC. Good riddance. He'll fuck over USC and leave for the NFL after a couple of lackluster seasons.
Riley was looking for the exit in August right after the OU/Texas SEC announcement. The team was nowhere near ready, and the first game of the season showed it.
AWESOME VIDEO DUDE! This was just what the freaking Dr ordered. I wish I could show this to all of my college football friends. It's been tough at times being a die hard OU football fan here in Utah, but never ever one I would regret. Being a Sooner fan is about the relentless undying chase for greatness. Straight up. And even though it's taken more than a few years off my life lol. I wouldn't change a thing. Besides there's plenty of time to sleep when you're dead. Can't wait for the future and can't wait to see what this relatively new team and staff have in store for us this fall. BOOMER SOONER.

Not sure OU Daily has quite the resources ESPN (or whomever makes 30 for 30) has. It's a good record for what happened. Not everyone follows the OU football soap opera as closely as some of us do.
I think Lincoln tanked the season and his play calling hurt Spencer Rattler. Lincoln is a smart guy he knew all season what he was up too. Even post game interviews I kept saying something is up he doesn’t look at the camera and so secretive. It’s a shame cause he hurt the players and the foolish ones are following him. I think he was distracted by that and didn't put his heart and soul into the rest of the season...just aloof. Did he lie about this coming together in 12 hours? Absolutely. The thing is, I am grateful Riley left. I don't think he's a bad coach. I don't think he's a national championship caliber coach because his teams revolve around offense and defense isn't the priority it should be. Lincoln would not have made OU a real contender in the SEC. I also believe Lincoln realized that. OU needed a rapid culture shift to a defensive-minded coach. I'm not so sure OU wasn't encouraging Riley to move on, or at least made it easier for Riley to come to a decision to leave. That's speculation on my part, but as soon as Riley was out the door, OU was courting BV and making massive changes to football staffing with expansion. This move by Riley was absolutely necessary for OU to advance to a national championship contender once again. OU will be closer to that level in 2 years under Venables than they would've ever been under Riley.
Spencer Rattler is why I began questioning Riley. Sure he had play making abilities, but he also had some leadership issues in both his history and a few slightly visible while a starter at OU. I do not believe any university is going to allow any short comings of their starting quarterback to be made obvious. So seeing it in spite of these measures brings forth questions of how big of a problem this actually was. I believe Lincoln has a severe cool kid complex that hinders his abilities to coach effectively.

If there is a year of growing pains, it has to feel better than last year’s “the coaches can see it….. we are just right there next to it, almost there.” Then, the play calling & unpreparedness for Baylor, then what’re that O State game was, then the deceit, then the leaving, then the talking out of both sides of the mouth. Venables is a man of honor & ethics. The disease has been excised. Boomer!
@@Animalmanager Yes and no we lost some elite talent there is no doubt about that, OU also finished 8th in 2022 class recruiting from a low 30s ranking when TBOW left. The team was regressing every year from 2017 to 2021 and there is plenty of stats to prove that.
