God bless Coach Switzer. You can tell his players loved playing for him. Not only does he share wonderful memories with his players but also with their families. He was caring, genuine and always had their best intentions in mind. He was very charismatic and always displaced a showmanship genuine to his characters. #Sooners
Wow! I've been a Husker fan for over 50 years, but my respect for the Sooners runs deep. I sat by and watched many of these guys beat my Huskers for years and I have deep admiration for the program, coach Switzer and his players. Enough so that I watch video like this!
George as a Sooner fan I always have respected NU. Coach Osborne and staff always fielded great talent and great players. I always loved our rivalry but at the end of the day I will always say there were never were or never will be two of the classiest coaches than Coach Osborne or Coach Switzer.
Im a Sooner fan. I miss playing Nebraska. Great rivalry. Big mistake not having this game. Those were great times. I hope Scott Frost can get them back to the great team they were.
I'm a life long Sooner fan and agree with Sterling Ray. The battle of the Big Reds was one of the best and most rich, storied rivalries in college football. Hope it gets rekindled somehow. Nothing but respect for the Huskers.
And likewise, I always loved playing Nebraska -- a sea of red. I was really young, but even then I knew the Nebraska fans and organization were like us, decent, respectful people who loved the spirit of the game. The Big 8, OU vs Nebraska, top-notch players -- the way football should be played.
just remember what barry said. "the black shirts of old are not the same black shirts of today!" he isnt lying! the 78 ou nebraska game was the hardest hitting game i have ever seen! the black shirts were absolutely bringing the lumber that game! wow!
I concur all yalls statements. I'm a lifelong sooner but my respect to all the husker fans of my generation in the 80's we got to witness probably the hardest hitting teams in NCAA. I miss those days.
Coach Switzer, is just one of those once in a lifetime type of person, and The Boz, is what made me a Sooners fan as a 12 year old boy!! Much love for all of you guys! I have had the pleasure of meeting Billy Sims, his picture sits in my bedroom, it’s one of my favorite things! Boomer Sooner!!
Wow - I stumbled across this - what a joy to watch it. What a class group of guys. I was in college at CSU (now UCO) during the Boz, Jackson, Holloway magic days. So much fun watching and rooting for OU. Still do all these 30+ years later!
I don’t know if there is anything more beautiful in life than to be able to witness the growth of a human being in character and spirit. Brian Bosworth has sure developed into a great human being. Wasn’t always a fan of the football player, however I am a fan of his growth as a genuine human being. He made the most out of this moment. Enjoyed listening to this as much as I’ve ever enjoyed any football game.
As a complete OU homer, I really admire the hell out of all those guys. Back in 1989, I got an internship with an oil and gas company in Dallas with some alumni connection. When I got there (I'm a skinny dude) I noticed a lot of people catching puzzled looks at me for the first few days. Later, as I got to know my co-workers, they told me that Bosworth and Keith Jackson had been the two previous interns, so people were speculating that I must be super fast. I wish I'd known and had a chance to play it up a bit. Apparently Keith and Brian mainly kept their office doors closed and hung out with their girlfriends. I did not have an office.
Not sure what year it was, but: OU was interviewing coach prospects, coach (Gomer Jones?) had retired, ...and, we're waiting tables at Pete's Steak House, and we're listening to this guy talking at the BIG table that we'd set up for this big group... ...and this guy is going on, and we waiters are eavesdropping in and suddenly our headwaiter says, "If they don't hire this guy that's talking, they're dropping the ball." That was Switzer...he could, and did, charm EVERYONE in the room...
Boz didn't shame Oklahoma. Except when Bo Jackson ran him over. Joking aside, he just added more legendary stories and changed the culture of how we see the NCAA. Oh yeah!!! He's was also one of the best LineBackers ever to play for OU! BOOMER!
I HOPE THEY DO THAT WITH COACH STOOPS AND THE GUYS HE COACHED. WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT . I REALLY ENJOYED THIS VIDEO TO SEE SOME OF THE GREATEST SOONERS
BILLY SIMS is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE SOONER player. BARRY SWITZER is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE COACH. But, in my opinion, GREG PRUITT & JOE WASHINGTON stole the show. They are soooo funny. It's obvious they all LOVE each other. I LOVE my SOONERS. BOOMER SOONERS 4 LIFE! 🙏🏿❤️🏈❤️🏆
I screamed and carried on so loud when Von Shaman made that field goal the lady at the end of the street ran up to our house to see if everything was alright.
Ring-less Riley: Usc fired their coach 2 games into the season and their athletic director first spoke to my personal agent about me coming aboard to join them and I relayed back to my agent to tell them I'll be ready after I do a lackluster job at OU first. No worries , I'll tell whoever believes me that after we lose the Okie State game that usc immediately contacted me that late evening/night that in the next morning with all due diligence and hard praying and long consideration, I'm headed to usc.
You are truly Right this is a great documentary I pray to God bless all the men in that room you can actually feel the love they have for one another especially for Coach Switzer thank you all for putting this together😎
The wishbone is the only situation I ever saw in which an amateur version of a sport outgrew the pro version. My own ultimate ideal football team would be a wishbone offense team, most likely with Danny Bradley as starting QB.
I know it pisses off the football snobs that think the Big10 Notre Dame and USC are the better than everyone else but the truth is that the two best programs and the Ultimate Blue bloods even though that term doesn't fit because it's snobbish Alabama and Oklahoma are the top 2 programs in the history of college football by a mile and Oklahoma vs Alabama game is one I'm absolutely gonna be watching and rooting for my Tide but if Oklahoma wins at least we lose to a worthy adversary Roll Tide and Boomer Sooner hell yeah nothing but respect.
Get your head out of your ass. College football is bigger than Alabama. Yes Alabama has is place because I live in Alabama i was born and raised in Alabama but remember it ain't all Alabama... Dude get a FUCKING life ..
If I recall correctly, this was filmed in Tuscaloosa AL the day after the OU/Bama game there in 2003, I believe on the campus of Shelton State community college-Hence one reason that Eli Gold was chosen and asked to do this.

I don’t know if there ever was a classier *rivalry* than OU-Nebraska. Mutual respect was always enough; nothing else like it in college football.
@@soonerlegendspodcastsame for me I miss that game every year
You'd be good friends with my mom. She's nuts about them
BOOMER SOONER here, but Sooners and huskers and some great games
Wow! Dewey Selmon said one of the most profound things I've ever heard any man say.
I'm a life-long Nebraska fan, and I appreciate these Sooner players. All first-class guys.

Damn Brian Bosworth just messed me up. By just coming clean. And his apology was so sincere and they love him still. 😎

Born and raised in OKC, now living in Neb., absolutely Loved listening to this pow wow...BOOMER SOONER!!!!
50 years of wonderful memories. I have to confess, when Barry rode out of town, I rode out with him.

Any recruit with OU in their top MUST watch. This is some amazing stuff. Love it. BOOMER SOONER.
Actually it was second down when OU ran the tight end reverse with Keith Jackson not third down. What a beautiful sight it was.

My nephew Robert met Joe Washington @ a function several years ago. He said Joe was the coolest guy.
Tillman is a very intelligent man....
I wish that Marcus Dupree was there and that coach would state what he said earlier that he regret how he treated him
True, and how so fkin out shape he always was in. Big when he e was on, no one was better than MDP!! #Sooners
BILLY SIMS is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE SOONER player. BARRY SWITZER is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE COACH.

Southwest Conference was a badass conference at the time. Love OU FOOTBALL and Couch Switzer
Spencer Was a Oklahoman kid
He has Oklahoma Values
Great young man
22:40 This was a great story from Keith Jackson about Jamelle Holloway and Eric Mitchell.
Switzer is the best OU football coach of all time.
Debatable with him and mister 47 straight coach wilkinson
Bud, Barry and Bob
Coach Venables and Coach Switzer both believe success comes from relationships. Can't wait for August!
Greatest video I've watchted being a Sooners Fan. I didn't see it when it came out. But it touch my heart, and made me an even a bigger Sooners fan.
You knew Barry would be the center of attention. He'll always be the King.
Thanks for posting.. was the best show on
Brian Bosworth got that off his chest, that was good for him.
I screamed and carried on so loud when Von Shaman made that field goal the lady at the end of the street ran up to our house to see if everything was alright.
i enjoyed the legends go sooners
You know who is missing from this group. Jamele Holliway

Hey blaq, Nebraska’s greatest teams were better than OU’s greatest teams. Deal with it.

COMING FROM A GUY WATCHING OU FOOTBALL.🤔
I can appreciate OU football, but you seem to have no respect for Nebraska, thus your acting like an imbecile.
