As an Estonian person, I can say that Esther’s actor does incredible job with the accent!! A few times it sounds more like a russian accent but it still sounds incredibly like Estonian accent!!!!Also, I have a fun story to tell: when the orphan first came out my parents where at Korea (they ‘re Estonians) they wanted to see orphan, not knowing what the movie is about. They went to theatre and at the part where Esther’s stepmom called to the Saarne institute the Estonian lady picked up the phone in the movie. So literally my parents didn’t know what the movie was about and they were in Korea and then out of blue some lady starts talking Estonian language in the movie! And it’s so fun to listen their experience cuz they were just gonna see a random movie!
Technically orphan wasn't really a horror movie but I have to say no absolutely sucked compared to the original sorry I know that's not what people wanted to hear I did not like the twist either I felt like it's something cheesy that you would expect from a Scream movie that's good in Scream but in a movie like orphan it just didn't fit for me and I have to say it was also very rushed The Twist comes in the middle of the film if everyone else liked it I'm glad they did I respect everyone's opinion I'm not trashing people for liking it but I didn't like the film it felt like trash to me just me that's just how I felt if anyone liked it have at it I really just couldn't like it like the original I'll always be a huge orphan fan for the original
I want to see a 3rd movie. They never showed us Esther's dead body. She could've survived, even if it's unbelievable. After all, isn't that what normally happens with slashers in movies?
Since she has solidified herself as a slasher icon, I guess the next step is to make her invincible lol. Seriously though, idk what they'd do for a 3rd movie. Maybe they could have it set at an orphanage, but not the one in the first movie. Have it set at a different one and she wreaks havoc, and at the end have her moved to a different orphanage.
Or they could disregard the happy ending of part 1 and use the real ending aka "deleted ending" instead, where Esther is the last one alive.. Probably deleted for being too dark.. 🙄
@CipherRage0909 i would rather want sequel than prequel again becouse it isnt confirmed she died even the dudes that made the movie said the actor could play the character forever and there was another ending where she was alive and then they could make it like Halloween kills with flasbacks from the past that would be cool to see
I watched it this morning on ParamountPlus and wow, what a movie. The way things turn on their head halfway through was a pleasant surprise. It definitely kept with the feel of the first movie.
Yeah, when the first act was finished I thought but we have seen this and then the second act came and I was loved it. They created such an interesting dynamic.
Definitely a great watch. I felt exactly the same as the reviewer. Skeptical but since I had Paramount Plus, I was going to watch it anyway. Matches the first movie and I really liked that one too.
The first one was so good and doesn’t get talked about enough; the plot twist alone is something that I never would have guessed. Can’t wait to see this!
Yess!! The first movie was amazing and definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves. Watch it!!!! It was better than I could of hoped for and also has a twist ^-^
I think that's because first one is based on a real incident but the family were the bad guys and they abandoned an actual child that they adopted claiming she's a grown woman. They locked her in the house and left, leaving her to starve. But I've heard that story both ways- both that she wasn't a little kid and that she was and the family just wanted to abandon her.
I really enjoyed it and don't think anyone was expecting the twist (not even Esther 😉), which can only be a good thing. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the interior shots of the CGI fire, it kinds killed the immersion because of lack of smoke. The CGI tree house fire in the first Orphan was done well.
Yeah I liked the movie, but did not like the fire scene. It looked very fake and very unrealistic that she could casually walk through a fire at that caliber without struggling with smoke inhalation or her eyes burning.
@@Gabriellaella23 It bothered me at first but then watching it 2nd time it kind of worked for me. It was almost comic book like and I think intentionally made that way
*SPOILER* I was genuinely shocked when they revealed the mom and son were ALSO evil. Like, I thought it was gonna be that they find the real Esther (either dead or alive) and that’s when shit hits the fan.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the twist! I expected the ending, obviously anyone would if you've seen the first movie, and if you haven't then uh... idk. When it played I already knew this to be the family mentioned in the first movie, but the twist was very interesting. Scenes felt rushed though compared to Orphan so it was hard to follow at some points, but I'm not mad at this sequel. It's good. I'd give it a 7.3/10 personally. Isabelle is a really good actor.
I did not expect Orphan: First Kill to get decent reviews at all. William Brent Bell doesn’t have a great track record (The Devil Inside, The Boy 1 and 2). Now I’m excited to check this out!
I thought The Devil Inside is just okay, but I like both The Boy and The Boy 2. I think the reason why a lot of people don't like The Boy 2 because they don't understand it.
It was cool how she learned the led painting from the dad because at the end of first movie in 2009 you can see she painted the walls and had the blue led lights
I watched it this morning and really enjoyed it. I did not see that twist coming. I was kind of expecting it to be pretty generic but I LOVE the original so I didn't care. It was FAR better than I expected.

FUN FACT: Director William Brent Bell use a body double for Fuhrman as the camera pans out. Actress Kennedy Irwin who also played young Esther Albright served as the double. This was a long waited prequel/sequel and I just can't wait to see it which I think the writers did their homework to call back on the story from the 1st film when Esther was staying with that family and they was in a fire or something like that. I went in with low expectations and had watched bodies bodies bodies the same day (hated the movie idk how it has 89% ratings) and this movie was a refresher like ugh I thought it was so good. Prequel standards this is just as good as Annabelle creation. Definitely one of my fav horror movies of the year.
I dont want to spoil but they went in a direction that I totally didnt expect. I was cheering in my living room, but yes i couldnt shy away from noticing she wasnt a girl but it was still a good/believable roller coaster 🎢👹
The first 20-30 minutes was filled with "WTF" "Did that really?" and "BADASS!!" Esther really did come out swinging. Gives you the lesson of, she might be little but she will mess you up! Also, you get a chance to really learn her personality prior to her joining a family. She seemed very sweet but always on survival mode so beware if you get too close. She was definitely a con artist. As the movie progresses, it takes a turn. Esther's personality changes and I am not sure if I was too interested in the direction it took. The action scenes and watching the family get back at each other kept me hooked. It just seemed like the writers didn't know what direction they wanted to take and just tried to make both work. I would definitely make some changes that fit her personality in the beginning of the movie. I can't mention enough about how fucked that twist was. It made me realize that I was rooting for Esther the whole time. Just makes you question the initial meeting. I don't really rate things on a 1- 10 scale though. That's too many choices. My rating scale is: Trash, Entertaining at Best, Watch on a Rainy Day, I will definitely watch this movie again, and Holy F'n Shyteballs that was good. I would scale it, Watch on a Rainy Day. As mentioned, I loved some of the action sequences. Especially when Esther was punishing the wicked. Also, the little feud within the family was interesting to watch. I think it's important to see character development so I would prob watch it prior to watching the film a couple times just to see that progression. I just think the story didn't have a strong direction with the personality change.
I watched it with no expectations and to my surprise, i loved it as much as the first. It had my interested and entertained. Idk how they would do a 3rd but i hope they do. 🤞
I disagree in that the twist is what made Orphan enjoyable. The movie was good without the twist. It was unsettling and interesting. The twist was just the cherry on top. This review shocked me TBH.
I said that in my review lol that I use to think only the twist of the original made it good but rewatching it recently it’s good even without the twist. So I don’t think we disagree😅
