Although Orphan nearly quadrupled its $20 million dollar budget at the box office, grossing $78 million dollars worldwide over its three month 2009 theatrical release, it hadn’t immediately warranted a sequel. But now, a little over 13 years later, Paramount looks to release a prequel to the film titled Orphan: First Kill, releasing August 19 in select theaters and on Paramount+. So, we thought now would be the perfect time to go back and breakdown everything that happened in one of the many forgotten 2000's horror movies. We personally found Orphan to be very enjoyable and think it definitely deserves more attention than it’s gotten over the years, so if you haven’t seen it already, make sure to check it out first before continuing with our explanation and recap of it.

I had seen "Orphan" back in the day but it has been 13 years. The new one is out this week and I want to go see it and your video provided a great refresh as to the previous movie. Now, I'm off to the theater to see the new "Orphan" movie. Thank you.
I'll admit. This movie scared the shit out of me. I was like maybe 11 or 12. My uncle, sisters and I got some McD's after watching the show. I was still thinking about the movie when I was in the car waiting for the food, wondering how I was gonna go to sleep that night and if she was gonna be standing at the side of my bed during a thunderstorm. I looked up and out the window and saw the damn billboard of the Orphan. I was going through it.
10:46 “luckily only a serious neck injury” 😐
I love this film so much! The freaky twist was pure madness and was so hype! I was just having to watch it a few times this month! 💯
I wanna watch this sooo bad man but I haven't yet so I just decided to watch this first!! This gave me the chills
I had to pause Orphan First Kill to find someone's explanation to the 1st & from ur recap that movie was a 10/10😅
Had to refresh my memory before I watch the new one
Okay.. so i started watching first kill today and found myself insanely confused to the setting with the “Albrights” and their family dynamic. The only reason I even started it is because I remember thinking the original orphan was “pretty good”. After watching this recap, it reminded me HOW GOOD “Orphan” was as a stand alone film. It was incredible. Well thought out. Solid plot line. Etc etc. now watching “Orphan: First kill” I don’t know what to think. Yes it’s the original Esther. But I have no idea where this family came from or who they are. We’ll see how it ends. Original orphan was 9/10
Oh my God... That's a loaded recap... Thanks
Incredible recap! Thanks guys! Subscribed!
How could you say it's forgotten? Its a classic.
Thank the GODS for this! I remember enjoying the film, but I certainly didn't remember the details! This reminded me of a lot of it and now I can watch the prequel :)
Only one God, man, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't inspire movies like that.

the movie didnt really explain much why esther was attracted to the fathers, maybe she has a daddy issues
its explained in the script (but didnt make it to the final film) that she was sexually abused by her father to the point where it sterilized her and was raised to believe what he was doing to her was normal, she had many failed relationships because of what he did to her, finally HE rejected HER in favor of another woman telling her its because "you will never be a real woman"
it was her killing him and the other woman that led to her being sent to saarne in the first place
I wish she didn't die in this movie
It's such a shame the new one is so ridiculously bad 😮💨😮💨😮💨
the new one is pretty good
