Thanks for that bud, i might give that a try later on, something to add however it's advisable to try and crack the fill plug first before draining the fluid off as if the plugs rounded/seized you're stuffed for refilling it. :) Thanks again.
Of all the tools on his shed wall -When I saw how Small that spanner was I instantly thought he’s gonna snap it😂 Fair play though u didn’t!! Good video
I like your vids, no messing and straight to it, I'll be doung my soon when i do my engine oil and filter, hard to tell at some angles but did you get to the back filler nut from underneath or through the wheel arch?
The 2ltr cdti has the f40 gearbox in which should have 75w 90 fully synthetic in not semi synthetic. Also you should only put 1.8ltr of fluid in per vauxhall recommendation.
SO GlobalTIS original opel repair manual stating put 2.2l but residue of approx 0.2 l should remain in the gearbox. Meaning we should put 2l instead of 2.2l ?
hi . nice video with no BS. my astra gtc 2.0cdti sri looks like it has the same engine as this . do you know the model this gearbox is? as mine is hard to get into 1st and reverse so was going to try to add more new oil in . cheers
Would it be anybetter to use a oil removal pump to put the oil back in ,,does the only in the vauxhall insignia estate ever need changing I've be told no but surely it must lose viscosity can anyone please advice if does or doesn't thanks
Great video. Just a quick question if you can spare a minute. I recently had my clutch changed and ever since I've been finding it difficult to get it in to 1st and reverse first thing in the morning but gets better when it's warmed up but still isn't the best. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
Nice one and thank you.. Just to confirm , does filling to the level of the filler plug hole indicate the oil level is correct? Assuming the car is level of course.
cheers thank you, just a quick question. My 63 insignia recently came up with a transmission error, lost drive. AA got me home, some advised me to start the car up and see if it engages gears and drove like nothing was wrong till the temp started going up, he has suggested i might not have enough oil in there or the oil is just too dirty hence why when temp goes up i get the error and lose drive. there was no other noises or anything. Going to do an oil change as seems the garages around aren't interested. Any advice anyone?? I dont remember having the oil changed and its now up to 160000miles...
Thanks buddy... I don't know if you have the petrol engine as they seem to have a lot of head gasket problems I'm not saying thats what it is I'm not a mechanic. You might get some great tips if you go on one of the insignia forums.. Anyway good luck with it.. 👍
How much horse power is that engine ? While i was changing the o-ring in the oil pump it lost transmission fluid (and I don't know how much) so i want to refill it...btw thanks for your video it's very helpful
Thanks dejan if you just need to top up the gearbox oil, when the oil starts to overflow out of the filler hole it's done just put the filler plug back in .as to the horse power I'm not sure it was the 2.0 engine. I don't have the car anymore. 👍
Hi from Chamonix France, and thank you for sharing. I just bought a 2016 Insignia 1.6 136hp and any videos like yours are good for my information.

Hi David Thanks for advising everyone cheers buddy 👍
yup !
👍
Where have you seen those informations ? I can't find anything about the manual gearbox oil in the manual.
API GL-4 or GL-5 ?
On Google 👍

Sorry I didn't know the model. Could be low oil. Or warn linkage.
@@jonyr1TT i don't know if you mentioned this in video but are you jacking the side to get all the oil out . then levelling off to fill? cheers
Just did it on the unlevel floor

If you can afford a oil removal pump tool why not just buy the best oil money can buy. 👍
@@jonyr1TT only 12 pounds on ebay and does the job
Cheaper than the oil then 👍
Thanks for the video. Was it manual or automatic transmission? I have 61 insignia 2012. The drain and top up plugs are on the same place?
it was manual.. thanks
Can I ask is it definitely 2.5L of gearbox oil I need or 3.5L?
Hi it's 2. 2 litres. I've just checked the Haynes Manuel. 👍
Opel Zafira c Tourer 2013
How many liters for the gearbox and what caliber of oil
It's a old video sorry, you'd best Google it.
I have Opel Insignia 1.4Benzin 2014, how much Oil does an Insignia gearbox take?
I know longer have this vehicle or the workshop manual. Sorry 👍
What's the tool you used to open the bottom to drain the oil out called please?
It was a Alan key attachment
Could show video off location oil presure switch as hard to find
I don't have the car anymore 👍
don't know where the oil pressure switch is but been told the engine has to come out to change it 😳
👍

Sometimes when they refit the gearbox they don't set the gear linkage up properly.
Nice one and thank you.. Just to confirm , does filling to the level of the filler plug hole indicate the oil level is correct? Assuming the car is level of course.
Cheers buddy your welcome.. Yes buddy that is correct. 👍
I was told do no how true should fill it at 45 % is this true or false please
It says level in the manual

@@jonyr1TT it’s a diesel Vauxhall insignia
Thanks for the reply
👍
which gearbox is it ?
I've pulled 1,9L from my F40 and Opel say it take 1,9L
All I know is it was the cdti 2.L.
Excellent video John, very creative. One question, what diameter pipe did you use? Thanks.
Cheers buddy... The outer diameter of the pipe was 13mm.👍
So a 7mm internal pipe? Assuming the thickness is 3mm?
Think that would make it 10?👍
What oil did you use ? and is this a manual or automatic ?
Its a old video it was a manual gearbox. Can't remember the oil I used.🌲👍
hi .is it 2 litres to refill .🤔thanks
I no longer have this car sorry. You can Google it 👍
@@jonyr1TT thanks
👍
So where is the cunning plan bit?
what cunning plan bit?
Anything changed after that job? Gearbox work smoothly?
Yes but it did anyway, I drained the old oil so I could remove the driveshaft ..
Down there somewhere. Thanks
Ta
which gearbox f17-f23 vs f?
Believe it's f23 no longer have car so can't confirm.. 👍 thanks

What yours manual?
6 speed manual yes
😊
😀
This is mentioned nowhere in The service information for the car.. 120k and mine hasn't had a change yet. That I know of.
good luck with it fella
Maybe better to put in the amount in what came out than listening to the carshop guy lol
Lol 👍
Are you sure there is only one bolt to unscrew because some gearboxes has 2 or 3 drainage holes.
It was a very long time ago but yes I'm pretty sure.thanks
