It says with the probe but it is recommended to use the OBD scanner to check if your car can check with the internal transmission temperature sensor. The probe is okay especially the laser temperature sensor if you have one on hand.
Thank you very much for this video! I was looking for the right automatic transmission fluid replace procedure. But I have a single question: what must I do to raise the automatic fluid temperature (to 85-95), because in normal driving, it reaches only 60-70 degrees.
to raise the transmission fluid temperature, leave the car idling for 30 minutes or more and keep on temperature level, it will raise slowly when the car only idling and not running
no other procedure is possible on these transmissions.. also the filter is not servicable withouth disassembling he unit.. so change part of the fuel more often is the only way to go
bobl78 My mechanic, with special in automatics, did a flush on mine and changed all 10 liters, so it is possible, but you need a special setup and machine to do it.
If want a full flush you can use the cooler lines. On an Opel Vectra with the AF-40 box. WARNING: I'm not responsible for any damage done to you, your box or your engine using this guide. Use with caution and care. Raise the car. Remove the gearbox to engine mounting/support to get to the cooler lines. Disconnect the cooler lines from the box (the cooler lines are the hoses going to the radiator.). You have 2 options: Air compressor filling or Gravity filling. Air compressor method (modify as you like. This is just so you get the idea): Get a 8L container with cap and pour all your ATF into it. Drill a 12mm hole into the cap of the container and insert a 12mm hose into the cap. This other end of the hose will go into the upper cooler line hole on the box. Drill a small hole into the same container to be used to push air into the container and push oil into the box. Insert a 12mm hose into the lower hole and use a 2L bottle to receive the used oil coming out of the box. Now start the car and do it by step of 2 liters: when the box pump gets 2 liters out stop the engine and run the compressor to put 2L into the box. ou can do it with a 1L step if you want. When you see ne oil coming out you're done. Just make sure you put the same amount you got out. You can blow air through the radiator lines to get out the used oil still in the radiator. Add the amount you got out of the radiator to the box. Reconnect the cooler lines to the box. You can check the level to make sure. Gravity fill: Get a 8L measure graduated bucket and pour all your ATF into it. Drill a 12mm hole and add a plastic faucet valve so you can control the flow. Put this bucket above the gearbox level so oil will flow down with gravity. Connect a 12mm hose to this valve and insert it into the upper hole on the box. keep valve closed for the moment. Get another 8L measure graduated bucket. Insert another 12mm hose into the lower hole on the box and direct it into this bucket. When ready open the valve on the upper bucket and start the engine. Monitor the oil level in the two buckets. If level on the lower bucket is speeding up stop the engine and let the upper bucket level catch up with the lower one. When you see ne oil coming out you're done. Just make sure you put the same amount you got out. You can blow air through the radiator lines to get out the used oil still in the radiator. Add the amount you got out of the radiator to the box. Reconnect the cooler lines to the box. You can check the level to make sure. If you have poured in the same amount you got out your level should be ok.
This is kind of complicated I drive vouxhall Insignia with automatic transmission and after watching this video I think I might need to change my car,s gear oil.
This is may NOT be the correct ATF change procedure for the Opel Insignia / Vauxhall Insignia (1st generation 2009 to 2016) The first generation insignia at some point had a automatic transmission design change (af40-6 aka TF80SC)
I love how the video looks and sounds like it was made in the 90's.
Well the car look new so its probably made in late 90s
Great video
Would low fluid cause a loud whining in all gears ? And would replacing the fluid cure it ? Anyone ? Thankyou
Can you make a video fot opel corsa E transmission service?
I have oel temperature only to 67 degrees celsius ??!!
How many liters have the video's gearbox?
25 liters
@TappioLopullinen-us8dx no...
Wich type automatic transmision have insignia ? Regards
That is one clean engine.
this the sane for a 2012 2.0 se zaffy tourer auto.....just need to know what fluid
Very well illustrated
i have opel astra manual transmission 2000 model, im hard time to replace the gear oil because we cant find the drain plug, can you help me.
How do you check the temperature ?

is the transmission on Zafira A a sealed unit? you only need to drain and refill?
Covert Person yes
Covert Person it has a filter but takes a lot of work to get it changed
If you were replacing the actuator, would you notice a pump malfunction?
This is same as my chevrolet orlando. Needs 3.6 l of dexron 6. But i use more to better clean old one then let it drain on the check bolt
What about all the oil in the converter and cooler. If you change the oil like in this video you only change under half of it.
no other procedure is possible on these transmissions.. also the filter is not servicable withouth disassembling he unit.. so change part of the fuel more often is the only way to go

that´s correct...I should have said it´s not possible without such equipment it´s not t just removing a pan and draining the converter.
Thomas Thomsen is your mechanic in london?
Thanks for the video. Just can't find where the sump plug is to drain the oil out. I am the Astra 2007 model.
Thanks in advance

Can you show us automatic transmission fluid change on Opel Zafira Tourer CDTi ?
Thank you ...
what about the transmission filter? Does it also need to be changed?
Sadly it has to teardown plastic cover on side of transmission and hard to do. Thats I hy I don't like this model of transmission
The motor and transmission looks a lot like a Chevy Cruze 1.8 liter and 6T40 transmission.
This is kind of complicated I drive vouxhall Insignia with automatic transmission and after watching this video I think I might need to change my car,s gear oil.
Why isnt a filter in this transmission?
godos1098 I'm sure there is but I don't think the manufacturer specifications requires it to be replaced bit just check the service manual
It placed inside plastic cover side of transmission, and quiet complicated to do in this automatic transmission series
just a trickle
