Just fixed this issue on my insignia. Couldn't have done it without your video so thank you for taking the time and effort to create the video. Very generous of you to share your expertise!
Great video. having the exact same error code with my insignia 2011 check left dipped beam lamp. Put a bulb in looks to be lighting ok, will try swap with the other side and hopefully just get away with replacing the ballast. Never done it before but this video will really help as did your water pump and timing belt video. great instructions throughout. Thanks. The links for parts are also extremely helpful.
This video is great! My ballast is finito bcs water in the headlight and i ordered a cheap one but my question is how do i clear it from that fault once i placed it back?
Hello i did my Left Headlight today. My Steer is left in Germany. But the Gap on the Top is now a bit more then Before. I use a no Name Aftermarket Headlight. How can i make that Gap smaller?
Just sorted the o/s ballast out on my ‘10 plate insignia VXR. Thank you!! Well deserved like and subscribe!! Do you have the tutorial videos in playlist per model? Would be super helpful!! Thanks again mate 🎉
I've a 2009 insignia with the same headlight they do leak alot when they get older from the seal i resealed and also repaired one of mine also I sealed along the bonnet so water can't get in behind the headlights now you have to use a genuine hella ballest otherwise you get a fault saying that the light is out
@@diydaly yes for some reason vauxhall don't like the cheap aftermarket ballest ive got a aftermarket ballest on mine don't bother me has the light still works
These lights are quite rare to get a good one second hand. I managed to get a goid HELLA one from breaker, had an aftermarket ballast already installed but works fine with no errors
In my 2010 Opel Insignia, I've already changed the ballast twice because it's filled with water and it damages my lights. The problem is that the issue keeps coming back. I don't believe that switching to a new headlight, despite spending more money, will resolve the problem. This car has many issues with water infiltrations and electronics. I think that a seal in this case around all the components of the headlight is the solution. But from what I've read, silicone is not advisable. They recommend plastic welding along the areas with air vents while performing a leak test. What do you think can be done? My mechanic has had the car since yesterday, and he's also not quite sure what to do because the solution of a new headlight is expensive for me, and buying the ballast and the light and replacing them will result in the same issue soon with water getting in. A lot of water enters the headlight, and it's not condensation; it's actual water accumulating at the bottom where the ballast is. Do you have any solutions on how to waterproof a headlight and all its components? And if it's cracked from some impact, is it possible to seal it? Thanks for the help
A lot of the time the covers for the access to the bulbs are I'll fitting and water easily gets in under them, you could use a small bead of silicone around them then screw them back in. Not too much or they won't seat and hard to remove again
this one is not too bad, at least you don't have to remove the whole bumper, wheel arch lining, engine lol etc :P 9 screws + 4 for the headlamp The only issue is that plastic hook (white on the video) where the bumper holds onto the wing - it's white because every time you unhook the bumper, this end gets teared more and more, leaving less plastic from hooking back into the wind correctly. Hence why his bumper doesn't stay on properly.
Vauxhall know this is piss poor design. It's mentioned in their workshop service bulletins for warranty claims and later models had the ballast moved up to the side of the headlight body instead of underneath
You installed an aftermarket ballast unit, NOT a genuine one. Aftermarket ones just powers the hid bulb and can not communicate with the other modules and sensors. That's why you got the error at the end. We already showed in our videos the tips to distinguish the original one from aftermarket units. Copy ballasts can not communicate with the LINBUS main ecu. You’ll need a diagnostic machine capable of reading the body control module

What unit would be for xenon lights
Wow. Removing a headlight used to be so easy. What is that?

Sorry, now we have seen that you already resolve the problem and discover that the one you fitted initially is a aftermarket one.
