Excellent video. As a newbie, I could use a video like this on blade steel. Quality range, pros and cons of various materials.

On blade steel, just do a search. Even wiki will give info on it. It'll be more than you expect.

I feel like knowing everything about a knife before getting it, it makes it less interesting, but that might be just my ADHD loosing interest in something too quick!
For me part of the fun is discovering myself how it feels, how it opens, how it sharpens, how it cuts, different ways to carry, if I find ways to mod it...

What an awesome and useful knowledge. Knife youtube is definitely missing quality content like this. It's very refreshing to see someone providing real info not just presenting yet another new version of knife with changed handle colour.
Thanks for keeping your videos down to earth with real users in mind. Your flashlight content introduced me to sofirn/wurkos and I'm very satisfied with my purchases

Some one recently brought up that there was not enough guides out there..I want to change things up. Every month I am going to have a knife week (3rd week) and am going to try to include at least one how too of some sort.

Hi, great topic. I think this is valid for fixed blades as well. Have you thought about old school folders, and make a video? Buck 110, Rat 1, Gerber Gator, and others. It will b good video. I know it's nit cutting edge technology but fun, where we were and where we are now. Cheers 👍

GREAT video, Dom; another favorite. Insights for newbies and aficionados alike.
One recommendation. While in post production editing, you might consider flashing up the make, model, and (if applicable) variant of all the knives while they are neatly positioned in a row, during the opening sequence of each category. This will allow inquisitive viewers to pause the screen and peruse the entirety of that information--of substantial interest to many--in one spot. I know its too cumbersome to stop and talk in such detail as regards to each among such a plethora of knives.
Thank you again for your excellent work.

Useful info, as well as solid recommendations at the end.
Hugely agree with a more neutral handle, horrible having the possibility for slip/sliding into a finger grove despite texture or digging into your hand while in use, major yuck factor.
    Thanks for the upload.

So I’m still not getting the difference between a hollow grind and a flat grind. Thanks for going through these options in general.

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  Месяц назад

hollow creates less drag on a material allowing the leading edge to do its job more effectively.

I have the Miguron that you showed first with the white G10 but I bought the one in black G10 because I don't know how the white G10 handles dirty hands. If I knew that the white G10 could be cleaned up and stay white, I'd love to buy another one in the white. Thanks for the video and advise.

Not all FRN Spyderco knives have bidieectional texturing. Some of them are really awful. I think they call them "volcano scales". The exturing is like little squares with a dimple in the middle. The only Spyderco I ever got with those type of scales was an S90V LW Para 3. The scales felt like they were made by Playschool. I rapidly swapped them out for a set of AWT scales.

Awesome guide, what newer help with my dumbest request to the knife. I want something like 9mm segments knife with good handle(metal sleeve includes), pocket clip, trustable mechanics(in 9mm most problem what they have spring in button what broken after half-year use, for 2$ knife it not a big deal, but i have already 3 "gravity knife" with broken springs.) I try many brands - SDI, Stanley, Olfa, Tajima and only last two have nearly same model with same issues, but what i prefer to use. Utility knife isn't my choice, they mostly short blade, bulky construction design, or too much expensive titanium keychain type.

thinking about getting the Sitivien ST152, CJRB Pyrite (bit more expensive but looks sooo nice), Monikala, or the Miguron talism. Which would you recommend or the pros and cons of them. i want something i can use often (possibly for work) but is also elegant and fidgety. I could just use a multitool for work so the latter might be more important
