Thanks, I find Skype a little user unfriendly for someone who just wants to make a simple video call, but you explained the process clearly.
Yep, it's almost like the Skype devs considered what would make using Skype more difficult and then worked toward meeting that goal.

How would Skype work for teaching a painting class where people can see the demonstration and correspond with me or others in the session? I want the group to see the demo and be able to see me to talk with about the ongoing demo topic. Can skype do this?

There are just so many questions right from the outset that are not answered. This tutorial launched into the process far too quickly. What is the communication medium? Is it the telephone, the internet or e-mail? What is my profile, is it my e-mail address or something else? If so, what? How does one decide what communication medium to use? If by telephone, then presumably there is a phone charge. Skype is usually said to be free but there are little cash registers around and one feels that just one wrong move and the bills will start racheting upwards. Why do I need an account if I want to use Skype free of charge? The tutorial needs a prequel to set the scene. At the moment it is unfathomable for a beginner. Howfinity is too knowledgeable to understand how and where to begin.

How to use skype:
Open skype
Open another program to talk to the person through how to use skype
Minimize skype and continue using the other program, as skyp will have too many problems and be too confusing
Continue talking in the easy to use other program
You can close skyp at any time as it isn't playing a role in the conversation.

Didn't mention how you get YOUR video to appear in upper right (small) window and the Contact's video to be LARGE in the center of Skype. Guess I'm the ONLY person with this question.

Hi, why does skype jump to the next line or 2 automatically when you paste a message in the type box, this is so annoying every time you copy and paste a message you have to backspace and put it back on the one line.

I having a problem adding a contact. When I click on new contact and I go to add the phone number it says that the phone number is invalid. The number is correct when I select it from my phone. I’m using Skype on my Laptop.
Also when you key in a person name to look for a contact instead of entering a phone number I’m getting multiple people with the same name. How do I know which one is my friend?
When you add a phone number I think it requires the international version. Hence start with the international *country* code, followed by the phone number with the leading zero removed.
When you look for somebody it's a great help to use their SKYPE name (rather than their real name).

no you can use Skype to call anyone or company on their phone . If you call a cell phone your call is free.

Well-designed, user-orientated software EXPLAINS ITSELF to whoever uses it. It should not need a "How to use, beginners' guide". The people who conceived the mess called "SKYPE" simply do not understand how people think. Perhaps the most basic problem is its abuse of the English language.
For example, what is the difference between the concepts called CALL and CHAT? What does CHAT mean, anyway? Should it matter to SKYPE if I gossip about the weather, or else seek to discuss the most profound theories of human existance?
Miscrosoft, do us all a favour. Wipe the slate clean and start again with a blank sheet of paper. And above all, take a look at your competitors and learn from them.

How to change the Skype name?
Skype is my main phone service. It is on all my devices. I pay approx 100.00 a year for a phone number and the ability to connect to POTS/CELL. This way people can call me no matter where I am or what device I have with me. So long as I have a data connection be it wifi or cellular data I’m connected.
Skype has other benefits, but Messenger can also do all those things. So few people use Skype and so many use messenger. It’s sad really. If Microsoft pulled their heads out of their backsides. They could have a full Phone service, unlimited calls to land and cell, phone number, texting and video calls. For 150.00 a year. I would happily pay that for a full service service like that. But MS insists on charging for each text. This my be the biggest reason that Skype was overlooked by the masses as a mobile VOIP service. And believe it or not, people will pay for it.
As the movie said. Build it and they will come. Make the entire package available for a reasonable price with unlimited service for the year and people will come

That was dreadful - how could you call that a beginner's guide ? A beginner wants to slowly to learn the main thing he is going to use it for., not flash around all over the place like you did on things that I don't understand because of your speed, and I suspect I don't want to know.
