For everyone questioning the use of vinyl, this is for a basement bathroom that experienced moisture problems. Wood isn't always available or economically feasible, and wood fiber is not appropriate for areas with high moisture and humidity. I would lean toward a ceramic tile base, but this is a good option to keep a trim style that exists throughout the house.
For bonding to vinyl, XIM has great primers for a variety of purposes, and I believe I have used E.S.P. (easy surface prep) as well. E.S.P. is a "wipe on, let stand, wipe off" product that works so well it seems like it shouldn't until you see the final product, which is amazing. Neither of these require sanding for adherence, but you should sand for a smooth surface if necessary.
With as little trim that you have there, I go with an aerosol instead of getting my finish max dirty. Same process though, scuff and paint semigloss. Love the vinyl stuff in my kitchen 👍🏻
Have you tried Zinzer primer? It supposed to sick to formica. I use it on everything. Water base on everything except Greece stains tham I use the alcohol base and buy it in a spray can.

If you use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the molding that has static, it will leave little burned fibers all over the cloth. On a side note, do yoy use Gripper primer? That stuff is so good, it will stick to running water. 👍
That vinyl trim is great in wet areas but is not cheap. I use it a lot around windows in the shower. And yes, got to be very careful with what paint you use but that goes for anything you paint! I haven't used that brand to prime it, might have to try it out.

Hiya Handy Dandy... I use a product called Dirtex I scrub weathered vinyl with a green scrubby before I paint. People always say... YOU CAN'T PAINT VINYL 😭😭 I've painted dozens & dozens of vinyl sided garages, sheds, etc... My personal garage was painted over 15 years ago & it looks great! 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
That is the exact primer I use on exterior vinyl boards before painting. My HomeDepot never knows what "beefed up" is. Haha. 100 times out of 100 I've had to tell them how to do it.
Like a year ago (2019) I was at the paint counter and nervously ask the guy if “beef it up” is real or am i watching too much youtube haha. He said yup and mixed it up.
back in the day, we had "high hiding white" as well as a white base for pastels--beefed up white is probably the old "high hiding white", they just dont take up room on a shelf now with high hiding white, maybe.
Previous homeowner trimmed the base of a LR window seat with PVC quarter round & most of the paint has flaked off. And it's not even a high traffic area. (Obvious poor prep.) Not a fan of the stuff but it does have its place regardless. Good to know what paints to use too ~ just the other day I was touching & feeling my bookcases & ... 😋/📚
This is my issue, former homeowners used this vinyl trim all throughout the house and all the paint is peeling off. Not sure what would be best to get off the currently peeling latex paint.
I have used vinyl- pvc whatever it's called a few times. A finish nailer worked great but it wasn't going into metal. I didn't even paint it. Left it as is.
Oh no, don't do that. If the floor is ever replaced you have to remove the trim to do it efficiently. And if the trim is glued to the wall, removing it tears out huge chunks of drywall. It's nasty damage.
@@droolbunnyxo9565 I did this when I needed to put trim against a fiberglass tub which worked great but I can see your point if you put it against drywall.
I hope you answer this. I was painting my laminated countertop. My kid started painting as I walked away and the brush started to shed. I immediately tried to remove it. Used paint thinner. 2 days later I thought I'll just cover it with more countertop paint. HELP. What can I use to remove it? You can still see the remaining shedding under the paint. I've been searching for 2 weeks for a removal. . I tried sanding it with an electric sander.
When I've tried to sand latex paint it always peels up so I switched to oil base paint if I'm gunna sand. How do you sand latex without it peeling up? I like your videos by the way I'm a remodeler and handyman myself

Thanks for sharing. Regarding painting vinyl, I'm looking to install some exterior vinyl gutters, but want them a different color. Any tips? I figured a light sanding was a must. Now just looking for a low cost (if possible) paint solution.
You can glue/caulk adhesive it to the wall. But ( ! ) if you ever want to replace the floor the trim is a nightmare to remove without damaging the drywall. As in huge chunks tearing out. I know because someone glued the baseboard trim to the walls of my last home. And made precisely cutting & installing the new laminate flooring a time consuming nightmare.
Nice. Your horizonta fan spray pattern always drives me nuts, lol. I always shoot vertical fan. Every bathroom in my house has wood baseboards and trim. House is 17 years old. It all looks the same as the day I moved in.
