Yup, I have the Fn2 (in the middle of the front lever) set to REC. That way, I can just hit it and the X100vi starts recording. Hit it again and recording ceases. Very easy, fast and convenient.
This is well timed.. I've been following your vids these weeks and wanted to start testing video capabilities soon.. I immediately went and changed that setting from the first tip. Also, love the gravel bike and running stuff. Thanks from New Zealand.
@@gabrielbailey802 your welcome and no problem, I used to use my V all the time for video with my animals. Now I’m just waiting for my VI order in. I miss my x100, had to sell it when we had hard times but by far my favorite camera I have ever used.
I just found about that recently and so glad I did.. I was worried i would stop using the analog top wheels coz of that limitation, but now i see the dials front and back compliment them for the finer details.. def important function
@@Regzillaaa yea what I will usually do is use the top dials for a area I want to have my exposure in and then adjust and fine tune with the front a back scroll wheel
This was SO useful buddy - the AF setting is a game changer when filming yourself. I've been struggling to find that! - Could I ask please what lens you are using?
I filmed a mini music video with my x100vi and compared to my Sony it was a bit difficult to get what I wanted. Overall though after figuring things out I do think it came out pretty good. Im considering using this as my video camera for travel. It's very useable compared to its predecessor for sure. Thanks for the Great Video!
I’ve got face detection on, but point AF selected, single shot focus mode, unless I’m shooting portraits and then will go continuous. In terms of metering I’ve got it on the default!
Great video! I've also enjoyed taking a few impromptu videos with the VI. Interesting to hear your thoughts on action cams to bulky set ups - have you tried the ZVE1 with a small lens like the 40mm 2.5 or 50mm 2.5? I think that could be quite a compelling setup for lightweight/compact video
Great question! I've got a video coming soon all about this. The good news is that film simulations also transfer across to video, so dialling in a look beforehand is totally possible!
Pal2tech done a really good video on the different Fujifilm Autofocus modes - I’m thinking you could resolve your issues with maybe setting it to continuous zone maybe? And yeah, the AF touch is a bit confusing. Took me a few attempts to figure out what it means. Think whatever it is indicating, is the current mode that it’s in, rather than an instruction, if you get me. I’m saying all this, but I just got my camera today and have never used one before so 🤷 . Good video though - thanks!
@@gabrielbailey802 Also found out how to get the 50 shutter speed without using the flicker setting - set the SS to 60, then use the thumb wheel on the back to scroll to 50! I think the flicker setting may be detrimental in other areas, so this might be better.
While in picture mode with focus switch set to AF-S, when you hit the fn button assigned as "movie recording release", it will start recording video without needing to jump through the drive modes. However, this quick movie recording is forced to use AF-C with eye tracking, and you don't get the focus box to switch focus. Am I missing a setting or this is working as expected?
I think working as expected! I've mapped out some more custom buttons since this video and have one mapped to video recording release and it's a great shortcut!
not sure! someone else in the comments though had a great tip! you can get to 1/50 shutter speed, by setting the speed to 60, then scrolling the back wheel and it'll tick over to 1/50
If the ambient is very quiet, possible to hear it. Personally only noticed it indoor when subject was very close… at distance the focus changes are subtle enough it would be hard to notice
For a quick access to taking video with the X100VI, you can map any buttons on your camera to a shortcut - “Movie Recording Release”

Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the video and that it was of some use! Pretty cool it reached all the way down in NZ
pro level masking on that title, well done! haha
Thank you! was surprisingly easy to achieve with the contrast between light and dark!
@@gabrielbailey802 would you share a tutorial?
if you use the back scroll wheel if its set it, you can adjust your shutter speed to 50 and anything else in between 60 & 30
Damn thank you, this is a useful tip, will use that!

For the talking head shots? It’ll either be the Sigma 24-70 or the Tamron 20mm 👌

Thank you, will give it a watch!
Very good video but the crop mode is only turned on in 6K en 4K higher fps modes. 4K 25P has no crop whatsoever

@olexarfc thank you, definitely going to try this!
Why don’t you chuck a variable nd in front of it? It will still be a tiny camera
True! But slightly inconvenient for photos 🥲
My videos are always so shaky! How do I turn on my stabilisation? :)
Should just be in the menu settings! Need to turn it on for photo and video separately

What was this video recorded with?
A Sony ZV-E1
how many mbps did you use for your video?
Tried 50, wasn’t impressed, upped it to 100 and found it was pretty good!
Is there any issue with lens sound recorded while focusing?
If the ambient is very quiet, possible to hear it. Personally only noticed it indoor when subject was very close… at distance the focus changes are subtle enough it would be hard to notice
Is 128Gb memory with V30 enough for shooting 6K video?
I don't know for sure, but I would think so! I've been doing 4K and it's been fine with a much slower SD card
