Why do you need to run the auto calibrate first for lenses without hard stops, just to do a manual calibration after? Can I just run manual calibration?
Hi, I'm interested in this product for one shot in particular, where I would need a very slow, controlled and fluid zoom-out. Is it possible with this device to change the speed of the zoom rocker ?
Having issues pairing my Nucleus Nano II motor with EITHER handle on my Advanced Ring Grip. I simply want to use it to control the Zoom on my 24-70. Cannot figure anything out. Very frustrating. Any tips or documentation you could point me to @tilta?
Can the REC button be used to initial recording on the Panasonic S1H via that camera's remote port? I have the Tilta cable labeled "For Handle/Motor" on one end (USB-C), and "GH/S series R/S" on the other (3.5mm TRS). BTW, I am able to trigger recording on my GH5 and S1H with the old Tilta powered control handle, via a micro USB cable from the original Nano 1 motor to the cameras' remote port. So, that means the remote port on these cameras is working. I just can't get it to work with the Nano 2 control handle. I have the same problem with the Advance Focus Grip.
Is there a semless way to switch between the handle and the fosu wheel ? I would like to have the gripp attached to the camera and the wheel atached to the soulder rig. and to switch between those two on the fly when mounting the camera to a shoulder rig.
Yes you could set them all to the same channel then have the focus wheel control motor no. 1 and the handle control motor no. 2. You can then single tap the button the motor to change which motor number its assigned to which would change control between the wheel and handle.
@@TILTA I dont know if i undestood correclty, in your explanation you talk about controling motor nr1 with the grip and motor nr 2 with the wheel. But is there a way to control the same motors with the grip and with the wheel at the same time ? I have two motors attached to the camera. motor one and two. The grip is attached direclty to the camera and controls both motors. I have a shoulder rig with the wheel attached to it. So what i do is i just pivot the grip out off the way and mount the camera onto the shoulder rig via quick realese plate. And at this point i would like to control the same motors with the wheel. It seems there is no quick way to do that, without pairing the motors between the handle and the wheel every time.

Nick. I have tried to contact Tilta in Burbank with some questions to no avail. How can I get in touch with someone? I have a fair amount of questions regarding the II, and the just released firmware (Dec 2023). Like, what happened to the mulitplier? But also some other general questions - can you calibrate the knob for a lens without stops? What exact adjustments are supported for the FX3? Do I have to recalibrate a lens every time I use it, or does the Nano store info that can be recalled? Why does the screen freeze up some times? I've got a few more. Can I get any support? Thank you! I think I'm going to love this, but there is a learning curve for sure. Also, I can't seem to really enter info at all on the lens page. What's the voltage out of the second USBC motor port? It needs to be 9 volts for the FX3. Your motors will work between 3V and 17V, so a 5 volt USB A will suffice, but I don't think that's enough to jump to the FX3 and provide power from the second port. Just lots of questions.
You are able to pair our Nucleus M handgrips with the nano II motor with our new firmware update. Here is the tutorial: ruclips.net/video/EMPZU0Y674Y/видео.html
no it's not, it is a combination of analog to digital gain. The FIZ has several settings to adjust the speed of the rocker, starting with the actual zoom rocker speed and ending with motor stiffness and sensitivity.
Hi there, Can you please make an explainer video for how to add your own lenses to the memory. I have tried to input distances for my Zeiss CP.3 lenses and all I get is a bunch of nonsense numbers on the display. PLEASE make some clear instructions or let us know you're working on the firmware for it, because as it stands this feature doesn't work.
Make sure you are double pressing the pairing button and it is blinking red. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the receiver and make sure none of the pins are damaged.
You say you will go over the handle firmware update at a later point, but I don't see that anywhere... I updated my wheel and when trying to do the handle it sits at 100% but then the handle doesn't boot. It only boots when in upgrade mode and shows the original firmware

When I map in my user lens it does not show the focal length of the chosen lens is there an option to show the iris stops and zoom distance on the main page or can you add a fourth page to display all three? The torque doesn’t seem to change when set to the lowest option the gears often jump of the lens which effects the user’s mapped point and I have to hold the motor in place. I also find after auto calibration you have rotate the focus wheel from infinity to minimum focal twice before unit shows correct focus points.
1. Lens Mapping is not fully functional and will be updated in a future firmware update! More information on how to use it will be available at that point. 2. The torque setting is only for controlling the motor not calibration, the newest firmware has a lower torque auto cal. 3. This does not sound common, please send support@tilta.com a video of your demonstrating this issue and we will get you squared away.

Also, regarding the voice over, please complete the sentence with full voice projection, the drop off at the end of each sentence sounds mumbled and garbled. Nit-picky yes....But got very annoying when trying to pay close attention. I feel for the editor of this piece. I ended up returning my Nano II. The product had issues, most of been a lemon. Spent a few hours trying to get it work but no luck.
as of now for the current firmware update there is no documentation but for future updates we will be listing out what improvements the firmware updates make.
There is a significant design flaw with the Tilta Nucleus Nano II system. The motor cannot deliver (PD) to the camera. This means that if you want to use the record button on the Sony FX3/30, you will not be able to power your camera through a USB connection from the motor to the camera. Here’s a detailed explanation: USB-C Output 1: This port is designated for power output to a second motor only. USB-C Output 2: This port is for data transfer. According to the setup guide, when using the Sony FX3/30, you need to enable PC remote and PD through USB to connect the motor to the camera and use the record button. While this setup allows the record button to function, it does not provide power delivery to the camera. Potential buyers should be aware that this limitation might require alternative power solutions for the camera while using the motor.
You are correct unfortunately since there is only one USB-C port on the camera you will need to choose between using it for power or for run stop! We recommend using a dummy battery solution to power your camera so you can keep the USB-C port open for run stop!
ok, i can only control the motor in Auto mode, while i can only control the tilta mirage in the Manual mode? i calibrate the motor, and auto find the channel, then make tilta mirage motor to the same channel, but i can only choose either one of them by choosing A/M mode.... is there a way to fix this
Have you got a part number for the right angle rosette adapter for the control handle? It looks slightly different to the Nucleus M. If it is, I hope it’s a little cheaper than the Nucleus M adapters!
@@TILTA I have bought one already and find that it wiggles loose. The locating pins aren’t snug so the handle can wriggle side to side, eventually loosening the handscrew… Have you seen this before?
The Blackmagic 6K Full frame will likely be added with an upcoming firmware update. Keep an eye out on our Camera Control Compatibility Chart on our website for the latest updates.
Yes we have USBC run stop cables for Red Komodo to trigger R/S with the handwheel: tilta.com/shop/usb-c-run-stop-cables/ At the moment the control handle is only compatible with DJI run/stop cables.
Click mirage button for 4 times and you could select the motor number for mirage and then you could change the color for nano II motor to make it motor 3.
@@TILTA i'll try it out and get back to you guys. My mirage motor, when nano ii is in manual mode, works fine but since in manual only 1 Chan can BE active at any given time, even when i have the nano ii engine lets say, in Blue color, it does nothing on the front rocket/switch
Brilliant design, I love the TNN II...but.....where is the section for setting up custom lenses? Not sure how you could overlook one of the most critical aspects of the set up process. Possibly because it's so incredibly flakey and finicky. Somebody should do a video just on this topic alone.
Yes, next firmware will keep the wifi password to stay, the reason we set it forget cause some cameras will need to be connected by wifi. Bluetooth distance is 5-10 meters.
@@TILTA there are lenses that can go past infinity (like most cine zoom lenses and some fix lenses), the lens hard stop is beyond the place where the infinity mark is. The question is - what should be written in lens value to manually set infinity for such lenses. Like I have tried just typing in "INF" and it sets it as a random focus distance very far away. Is this the correct method to assign the infinity spot of the lens or what's the trick here?
There is an infinity symbol third input page but it doesn’t show when you choose the user lens it will just give you a numerical value but you you do get a symbol on the display ring
The focus ring on my lens has a long travel distance (270 degree), and when I turn the wheel to max or minimum, it doesn't make the lens to infinity or minimum focus. What should I do?
02:54 The one detail that threw me for a loop is when Nick said not to slide this onto a regular NATO rail. If I can't mount this on a regular NATO rail, I may be sending version II back in favor of version I. How would you mount this to a camera cage as shown in product photos or to a handle on a rail system? Is there even a single 1/4-20 on it? Did I miss something? He did emphasize "slide" so maybe he means to take care when mounting it.
Yes we have USBC run stop cables for Red Komodo to trigger R/S with the handwheel: tilta.com/shop/usb-c-run-stop-cables/ At the moment the control handle is only compatible with DJI run/stop cables.
Could someone please help me? I'm trying to connect the Nucleus Nano II to the Sony FX 30 (usb c, bluetooth) in every way and it still doesn't work :/ according to the instructions in the connection video, the FX 30 doesn't offer me the PC Remote option. When I pair it via Bluetooth, the camera shows it in the paired devices, but it still doesn't work (not even recording control, iso, etc.) thanks
Do will open the api communication protocol, will be nice to develop a compatible UEngine addon without the need of reverse engineering your protocol like we did with previous version.🤔
The interface for entering your own lenses is crude, doesn't appear to be explained anywhere but it kinda works (it's in System/Lens). Wish it would let you go back and edit the patches somehow. The software barely makes use of the hardware. Why can't you pre-program a zoom zoom or focus pull to time with a slider? Doesn't feel like it's delivering great value as it stands in 01.24. And the outlay for good usb c pd power supply isn't negligible either.
Lens Mapping is not fully functional and will be updated in a future firmware update! More information on how to use it will be available at that point.
The set up of this needs to be simpler. Unfortunately I'll have to return mine, mine is calibrating but it just keeps spinning non stop, i able to connect however my focus wheel does not correspond with my motor at all.
The motor is designed to spin until it reach the end point of the lens. You can learn how to calibrate manual lenses and connect the handwheel by watching this video!
I don't know why but when my nano ii doesn't show up the battery on screen, everything stays at 0 whatever I do and the motor doesn't move. Sometime, when the battery shows up that works and the next day that doesn't work for no reason. I've downloaded all the updates but when I reboot the hand wheel it said I have to download it again. I don't know what is going on. if someone can help me.
i get motor error often to frequently, and i wish you would of included a usb wall wart, just so you could get immediately working, cause it don't like alot of power stuff. just got it, i have it setup for zoom, ive read all that there is, watching videos, updated firmware. ill call/email if problems continue.
To all the Canon Users: Is anybody able to connect the hand wheel or the hand grip to the Canon R5C in video mode? Which USB setting in camera are you using? Which setting the the hand wheel. Nothing seems to work.
@TILTA Please, fix the ability to unlink a motor from the NANO 2 FIZ, like it is already done on the M FIZ. Right now when the NANO2 FIZ can not operate simultaneously with M handgrips, thus one can't control zoom on M handgrips and focus through NANO2 FIZ. Once the NANO2 FIZ boots up the M handgrips will stop working. Please, make it possible to unlink a motor in the motor menu, right now you can tap on the link, it will show you're tapping on it, but nothing happens.
This might be possible with a future firmware update, right now the only option to send control over to the hand grips is to power off the hand wheel or change the motor number on the motor!
@@TILTA actually, I've found a way around - powering the zoom motor by a different cable (not daisy-chained) and setting it to a different channel/motor number works. Switching a motor number when the motors are daisy-chained will not work, which is silly, considering nano1 didn't have that issue and had a better integration with the Nucleus M in this way (small nano1 on camera, with M handgrips used to control zoom).
anyone know how to control a7s3 with the wheel through bluetooth or wifi? I cannot get it to work. Pairing works fine but ctonrols and info never go thru

WB doesn't work. ISO, SHUTTER & APUTURE work.
Would be great to have PD to camera from battery through the motor. Otherwise it's not that useful with FX3.
Also trying to connect with Nucleus M left handle - not supported yet.
It seems like I bought too early.
too late to return
For camera control you need to use output 2. Right now the only supported camera features are Run/stop, ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture.

Hi. Nice Overview. Is it possible to run the motor with the side handle standalone or do I lack functionality when running without the main wheel?
I have the motor with the handle, it works fine. You just have to make sure to attach the handle from the top as the side nato rails are not for mounting it to anywhere
Yes the only thing you can do with the side handle and the motor is to control motor. The more advanced settings are controlled with the handwheel.
How to use Marks/A-B when knob is set to IRIS? In my case, I need to limit the iris between 800 and 999 (f4 - f16)
Does motors or controller saves inside them settings (torque/sensitivity etc) or we should set them every time?
is it possible to control the focus motor of the dji ronin rs2 or rs3 with the wheel? or can you control only its motor. Thanks!
I want to see a better view of how the control handle is attached
Same here.
the nano II handwheel has a nato clamp on the backside. it slides directly onto the nato rail on the side of the Tilta Red Komodo cage
Is the record function also working for a7siii? And i thought that the motor can not charte the camera, but my camera is charging through the motor connection. The USB mode is set to the correct settings as shown in the video.
Any change to support BB Full frame 6k? I got 2 motors and wanted to use one for irix, can I use the zoom lever on the wheel? also I want to add my irix 30 mm lens can you do a video for user lens? thx
The Blackmagic 6K Full frame will likely be added with an upcoming firmware update. Keep an eye out on our Camera Control Compatibility Chart on our website for the latest updates.
The zoom rocker can be set to control, iris, zoom, etc.

Hey Nick. Can I safely power/recharge the Nano control wheel via power from a V-mount battery to the USB-C port on the Nano 2 control wheel? I know the motors can accept higher voltage, but I haven't found input power specs for the control wheel.
If the battery has a PD USB-C port then it is safe, but you need PD USBC to charge the nano II.
How do i Mount it to a nato rail if I dont slide it ? That is the point of the nato rail.
Don't do it anyway. The pins really break. I know it for sure :-) Use the attachment method you see in the video.

Just got this and love it so far! Only thing not working so far is the Bluetooth. I’m trying to connect to a BMCP 6K and it sees the camera, but won’t actually connect when I press the frequency. Any suggestions?

I took the Handle Control unit, but my NP-F550 batteries don't fit inside the handle. Which specific batteries should I use?
The nano II control handle powers from a Sony L-Series Battery (F550) also called NP-F550 battery. Most standard brands should be compatible!

Is there a specific sequence to turn on and pairing all devices? Furthemore with the handle I can't activate the recording on the camera, even if I can control the focus. Thanks
can I use the nano ii wheel on camera for local control and the nuclear M wheel with my focus puller, easily switching back and forth to control focus?
That has only recently be made possible on a $30000 systems I doubt Tilta has a manual override on the nano II hence no answer
No, control has to be manually switched by changing channels, you cannot use two controllers on the same motor without them fighting over the motor.
Why do you need to run the auto calibrate first for lenses without hard stops, just to do a manual calibration after? I have a lens without hard stops, but I am using the included photo lens gear ring, and if I try to auto calibrate it hits the connector piece of the non continuous gear ring and starts skipping like crazy. Can I just run manual calibration?

Can the REC button be used to initial recording on the Panasonic S1H via that camera's remote port? I have the Tilta cable labeled "For Handle/Motor" on one end (USB-C), and "GH/S series R/S" on the other (3.5mm TRS).
BTW, I am able to trigger recording on my GH5 and S1H with the old Tilta powered control handle, via a micro USB cable from the original Nano 1 motor to the cameras' remote port.
The grip is attached direclty to the camera and controls both motors. I have a shoulder rig with the wheel attached to it. So what i do is i just pivot the grip out off the way and mount the camera onto the shoulder rig via quick realese plate. And at this point i would like to control the same motors with the wheel. Hi there. It says you can use the new dji motor to focus from the nano wheel. But I can not see how to connect it. I bought the new focus pro motor - nowhere I can find how to connect it. The wheel has a dji flip even .. but not a description how to pair

@@TILTA ok thanks ! but I don't see any tutorial or guide for this. Can you tell me how to proceed ?

Is the rocker completely analog? Meaning the more it is pressed, the faster it goes?
Yes, it's variable and you can feather the speed
no it's not, it is a combination of analog to digital gain. The FIZ has several settings to adjust the speed of the rocker, starting with the actual zoom rocker speed and ending with motor stiffness and sensitivity.

Right now it also doesn't work with Nucleus M handgrips. Once the NANO2 FIZ boots up - it switches all motors to be controlled from the NANO2 FIZ and it's impossible to unlink a motor from the NANO2 FIZ like it was possible on the M FIZ. Lots of stuff to be fixed still

The only way to check is to unplug the item and check the battery icon to guess if its full or not, its so small its hard to tell. You are correct the battery indicator will only show if you unplug the unit. When plugged in there will be a charging symbol on the screen.

Is there a way to use the Nucleus M controller for this motor and Nano at the same time? I mean one for focus and one for iris
Yes that would work.
There is a significant design flaw with the Tilta Nucleus Nano II system. The motor cannot deliver (PD) to the camera. This means that if you want to use the record button on the Sony FX3/30, you will not be able to power your camera through a USB connection from the motor to the camera.
Here’s a detailed explanation:
USB-C Output 1: This port is designated for power output to a second motor only.

Infinity should be indicted on the lens itself. Please email support@tilta.com if you have any other questions regarding this.
@@TILTA there are lenses that can go past infinity (like most cine zoom lenses and some fix lenses), the lens hard stop is beyond the place where the infinity mark is. 02:54 The one detail that threw me for a loop is when Nick said not to slide this onto a regular NATO rail. 23:00 "You'll also want to make sure that both the control handle and the hand wheel are set to the same channel" - how please?
It's in the channel setting in the 2.4G Menu of the handle!

R5C is not compatible at this time! We are working towards making this work with a future firmware update.
Does anyone’s nuclear us randomly start calibrating or racking focus without touching anything??
You are likely getting some interference, try switching to a different channel.
