I went on the same journey as you after seeing that inital RUclips video. I contacted Tilta support and they knew it would not talk to the BMC app and were working on an update and that was many months ago. I installed the update and it works nicely now. I originally noted the issue with it not remembering your wifi password, but it is doing fine now, every time I use it, it locates it and has a green check that it is connected. I wish the default setting was bluetooth on, but that is minor. I also wish that you could control ISO - that with focus and zoom makes it complete for me. I leave the angle set at 180 degrees (locked) fps at 30. I really don't need to switch lenses in the middle of a recording. The digital zoom and focus are good enough right now. Just need to get the exposure using ISO and a VND to make it perfect for me. I like having this remote feature of using the Nano II with the BMC app for those cases where one iPhone is stationary, but remote from me - like in an overhead shot when I am using multiple iPhones during a set up.

Just sent it back for this exact issue. Will reorder and try this convoluted firmware updates. Spent the day on their site trying to find firmware updates for the nucleus II. Couldn’t find so shipped back. Thanks for your figuring this out 🍃

You saved me, was so discouraged because I’ve spent the last two weeks building a kit so I can film on my 15 Pro Max black-and-white doc.
I’m amazed by the quality that I’m able to get with using Pro Res. To get around creating a b&w Lut. I’ve set my action button in accessibility to turn on grayscale. A simple hack when wanting to film in B&w. One missing link is this unusable sliding finger on the screen for manual focus Again thank you for posting. christopher@vii

Just a tip: Swipe up on the main screen to get to the menus instead of going into the Bluetooth settings first.
You can switch the wheel to control zoom in the settings, but having a button to switch their function would be a nightmare if you were using it mounted on a camera rig. You couldn’t tell which mode you were in without first looking at the screen.
The M and S firmwares are for the main system and I think the wireless or something? They should both be updated to the latest version.
I’ve been using the system since it came out so I’ve got a bit more experience with it. Feel free to ask me anything.

Really appreciate your chiming in here Ron. Thank you for the tips. I did grow to love the rocker for Zoom. But I wonder how people who have Iris motors AND focus motors make that work. Do they go into the settings every time? It’s not an issue for the Blackmagic Cam app, but there are a lot of us hoping that it will be an issue. In other words, we hope BMD will add some kind of exposure control, which will make that an issue.

I enjoyed watching your journey to get the wheel to work. It shows the steps you took to solve the problem which may be helpful with similar types of gear. Maybe people critical of your video could just say thanks and move on. People have a lot of balls when they get a keyboard in their hands.

The problem is: like the Apple Camera App, you cannot change the lenses! Through the wheel i cannot go to 5x with my iPhone 15 Pro Max...

Good point. I really loved the feel of this device, but I sent it back for now. I’ll need a couple more features from BMD to make it work for my intended use.

You need to connect to WiFi to perform the Firmware update. I found the process of connecting frustrating, but eventually got it to work. Keep trying :-)

Tom, thank you for the great video. I have a question. I briefly saw on the setting screen that it seems possible to change the knob from the focus function to another feature. Can it be changed to ISO or white balance?

Thank you for the comment, though I don’t know the answer. I was going to buy the SmallRig “quick release safety rail” for mine until I decided to send it back until I can get an iPhone 15 Pro first, and until Blackmagic fixes a couple of things with the app that I need. (I made a separate video about those needs for my workflow).

Hi, did you say the BM Camera app works on the iPhone 12 MAX ? etc

    • @TomQsTechTips
      @TomQsTechTips 6 месяцев назад

I was using the 12 Pro Max in the demo. It worked well with the Nucleus Nano II. I did notice that the Clean Feed suffered (dropped frames?) some when I started that Recording. Recording was set to 4K… so 4K Recording plus Clean HDMI and that was a bit much for the 12 Pro Max.

Thanks, would have bought and used but had to get the 15 Pro Max due to external SSD ease via USB-C

I sent mine back, but will probably purchase it again after I get a 15 pro, and Blackmagic fixes the issue where clean feed blacks out when in Settings or Chat. The Tilta NNII is a really nice device.

This video was a tedious to watch. So much time was spent on side trips and exploration that don’t explain exactly how to do what is needed to make the control wheel work. Sorry, but a concise description of ONLY the steps needed would be a better way to get to the point of the video.

@@TomQsTechTips I appreciate the hoops you had to jump through to get to the solution, as Tilta gear can be a bit cryptic. I just think you could focus on the salient points to explain the steps, and forego all the other stuff. Just sayin'
