the V2 craves rpm to be fun, which is kinda weird considering you normally buy a V2 so you don't have all your power in one spot but a more linear power delivery.
@@TheQuara93too old for a panigale. But don’t want to go the Multi way yet. I guess I will put the ak exhausts and the ecu flash (+7hp). Good enough for me.
Yes, the mirrors are so massively annoying. You look at all the wizardry they’ve put on it and then they mounted the mirrors so that they’re useless! 🙄 Italians! I don’t recall the mirrors being so useless on any other Ducati I’ve owned and I’ve been riding them since 1985.
Don’t let the rubbish mirrors put you off. It’s a fab, real world bike and you don’t need anything faster for the road. Like all Ducatis, it works best at about 80 mph, 130-140 kph. I honestly don’t know why the mirrors vibrate. I expect you could improve things by adding some more rubber grommets in the mounting. If I were buying a new one I’d be saying to the dealer : “The mirrors are notoriously vibey. Can you fit some aftermarket thing to improve them before i take delivery?” I have seen other bikes with bar- end mirrors, so that probably works. I just find it incredible that the new model has a beautiful new colour screen and the mirrors still vibrate. Or did they fix something? Maybe. I haven’t ridden this year’s. Enjoy your new bike. I can’t imagine you won’t. Only other niggle: it’s very easy to stall when the engine is cold and you’re trying to pull away. No other bike I’ve owned is so tricky. Try and let it warm up a little before you ride off. Don’t tweak the throttle - it doesn’t like it. Just press the starter and leave it alone while you do other things like put on your helmet and gloves. But don’t be surprised if you stall it. Once it’s all warm, there is no issue. Enjoy, as they say.
@@bend9441 if it's not too late: The problem with the mirrors, in short, is that they are mounted on the fairing and not on a "solid" part. The fairing is just plastic and will vibrate due to the very vibrant heavy engine. I have the bike myself, it is quite annoying. But at least you can make out headlights somehow..
@@gliddofglood have it myself, the stall issue is really a thing. I solved it by putting it in sports mode though. It seems to be an issue with the ride by wire that wants to be more "smooth" when you ride it in touring. If you put it in sports the gas comes more direct and stalling is not an issue, even when cold. But I had this many times before.
Cruise control, please. Ducati take note -- read comments and reviews of this bike and there are a lot of people do not understand its omission. Just seems some code in the ECU and a button. The RS660 has it, even S1000RR.
DQS is super simple: Use the clutch to engage 1st gear and as you feed the bike throttle, simply upshift without the clutch. Same for downshifts when you're slowing down - roll off the throttle and click down without the clutch and it will auto-blip the throttle for you.

What's everyone's opinion, I'm getting ready to buy my first bike. I'm 52 so older than most when they start. There's 3 bikes I'm looking at the Aprilia RS 660, Ducati Monster, and SuperSport 950s. What would be the best option.
You cant ask someone else what the best bike for YOU is. Theyre going to tell you the best bike for THEM. Everyone rides for a different reason and bike does different things well. You have to ask yourself why do you want to ride and what do you want out of it, then figure out what bike does those things the best
Either of these three bikes would be great, and have actually ridden all three. Fit and finish is better on the Ducati 950s than the Aprilia, and the ride is more planted, but the Aprilia is better priced and well featured. The Monster is fun and nippy, but not great for longer distances. If you're new to riding, just get used to the bike by using some of the sensible riding modes.
I don’t think this bike would make a great first bike. I don’t really think any Ducatis do and I’m a huge Ducati fan with nearly 40 years of riding them. The motors are quite lumpy and they only really make sense at speeds over the speed limit. They are not designed to be ridden slowly. I have this bike and the Triumph Speed Twin. I love both but as a beginner you’d have much more fun on the Speed Twin. It’s super smooth, super torquey, the handling is amazing (though not Ducati track-like), great brakes. It’s a wonderful motorcycle and I advise you to try one. It may be a 1200 but it’s very small and so easy to ride. Sounds great too. And it looks very cool.
The SPORTtouring sector is really thin. I preferred a cbr 650r over the supersport ,because of its low price and slightly lower performance. Im waiting for a bigger power up of the Supersport, since the ninja sx1000 and suzuki gsx 1000 are more touring than sport
My dream bike but absolutely no good for me until i have money to literally throw out the window, my japanese bike does everything i need it to and has way less shortcomings and conditions for $10k less. No hot seat, no unusable mirrors, no riding in a weird way for 600 miles until i have to pay for an expensive service, storage space in the passenger seat. Oh and two keys 😂 would pretty much be a bad decision to ever get this over my bike, unless money meant nothing to me lol one day
Japanese bikes get more expensive aswell sadly, but it's still a ducati. The seat is not an issue if you don't drive this thing in the city from traffic light to traffic light. The comfortable passenger seat and heat issue can also be resolved with the comfort seat. 600 mile riding in should be done on ANY motorcycle and car. The ducati service is not more expensive than the service of any other brand dealer and the 600 miles service is essentially just an oil change. The only expensive service is the desmo service at 18.500 miles which is more expensive because of the desmodromic. You get 2 keys. The mirrors really are garbage. Rizoma are said to be slightly better but didn't wanna invest yet.
@@bboykiddblack well bikes like these aren‘t really designed to do the job of a scooter. The engine wants to be able to rev, breath essentially. Even a Japanese one does not really like short trips where it barely even runs hot, but the engines are just a little more durable. Italians tend to be little divas sometimes.
