    I know it doesn’t have traditional Monster styling. But I like it. My wife got me a SP for my birthday, and I’ve been loving it. I don’t have the talent, or desire to push a 150-200HP bike. For its size and weight, the 111 HP seems like enough to me.

    I picked up a new to me 2021 monster 937 (non SP) with 1800 miles for $8500 back in April. So much fun. I love it. Anything over $10000 and I would have probably not bought it. I use it for street riding around KC and work commute.

    I love my Monster SP, it’s my first bike and just did the ARC with it and leaning it over and really exploring with it was a blast. As a short rider the height definitely took some time to get used to but it really isn’t that bad. Over all it just always makes me smile and the exhaust is lovely. Such a playful bike

    The tubular frame was one of the most iconic features of the Monster. This new model is saucy but doesnt compare. They have really cut themselves out of many markets by not offering a smaller model...Thanks for all the kick ass vids!!!

    As a youngin' I absolutely fell in love with the Monster. I was probably around 5 or so, back in 2001. Dad always had Harleys, and we went dealership to dealership because he was the kind of guy who always picked up parts for his friends.
    I feel just by the look that it's not the ol' classic I fell in love with as a child. 😢

    Got the Monster SP 937 a couple months ago as my first bike. Honestly such a great first bike. Has power and speed, not anything crazy but more than enough for a beginner. With the race exhaust and tune it does make it more aggressive feeling and a little spicier. Month 1 riding I took it to the track and it was a good time for sure. Feel like everyone should have a middleweight naked bike in their garage, great all around ride

    I think this performance class (Monster SP, MT09, Z900 etc.) is the upper end of what's actually usable and enjoyable on the road. If you go to the 150+ or 200+hp super nakeds or supersport bikes, you can't really use them in normal traffic. At least not in a way that would be both fun and also legal (without losing your license). 115hp or whatever the Monster makes, it's still a lot of power in a bike!

  • @Love4boost

    There is “two” versions of the base. I say “two” because the plus is just a seat cowl and a tiny bikini fairing that blocks wind from hitting your speedo. But you can get them fairly discounted. I saw one new going for $10.5 last month

    Ducati Monster was the 911 of bikes, an almost 30 year old lineage that was volves over time.
    With the new gen, they decided to make the 911 look like a run of the mill BMW. Nothing wrong with a BMW looks, but no 911 fan would be happy with it

    I've had a monster plus for a year now with the racing exhaust and tune up, along with upgraded front and rear suspension, they do better on track than one might think they would. I'd imagine the rear end grip issue is from the suspension just not being dialed in, when I take it on track I'm in full sport mode pinning it out of corners without having issues with grip.

    Yammie liked your comment about latest parallel twins with 270 cranks trying to have the sound and feel of a v twin. You appear to enjoy the proper v twin. For me a long time ago bought a Yamaha TRX 850 twin in 1996 with a 270 crank (available in the UK not sure about the US). Nice sound and nice vibe enjoyed the bike 80bhp however snatchy below 4k in 4th or 5th gear and limited to 8500rpm. Traded it in for a Suzuki TL1000S. Oh my goodness proper 90 Degree v twin with 125bhp that pulled all the way to 10,500 rpm.

    This Monster is a great bike, very light and maneuverable. I tested the SP and the +, the + has everything for a lower price, perhaps adding a stiring dumper would be the only add. I’m not a fan of changing the exhaust, the stock one is fair and has a nice popping sound when shifting down. Trellis or not, I don’t care, even if the Monster looks nicer with it, there is plenty older models available in the market. Also, the light weight makes it more enjoyable to ride, and Ducati is evolving, which is a good thing. My only complain would be the heat from the engine in summer time. Used, they are a good deal for an entry Ducati and the package offered, and it is looking sexy.

  • @evilminion8825

    Dont worry Yam, the Scrambler is a real Ducati in my book. It holds onto the old school tried and true soul of Ducati and is essentially the modern OG Monster in spirit. As an owner of an older 2010 Monster 696 with an old air-cooled 2 valve v-twin, i test rode this newest gen Monster and tho it is a better performing bike, it's missing that soul my old Monster has. I hate Ducati got rid of the trellis frame but I get why they did so, and it makes sense for the sake of progress (hence, again, the Scrambler is the OG Monster in spirit). I will never get one of these newer Monsters, it's just to similar looking to a Japanese bike, and too over priced. Plus, the right side passenger footpeg sticks out more due to the exhaust, and it grinds my OCD gears. I can't unsee it now.

    I have a 2013 monster 1100 evo and a 2023 monster SP
    Yeah the 1100 is more iconic but when I really want to have fun in the mountains, I grab the SP key, no question
    I’ve never had any rear end issues of any kind with the SP and it is way ahead of my 1100 in handling and it doesn’t have as committed a riding position like the supersport or my 1100

  • @julieb5434

    I have a 2022 Monster plus. I’m a short female and I had to use the OEM lowering kit and the lower seat to get it where I was comfortable in terms of seat height. The lowering kit is not available for the SP, unfortunately. I love the light weight of the bike coming from a 500 lb Bonneville and I have no issues with the handling. I will say that my right thigh is probably cooked to medium rare if I have to ride it 100 F weather in the city with stop and go traffic, to the point that I wrap reflective duct tape around my thigh. That works. Not sure if it looks cool or dorky.
    I did try the Street Triple, but it was just too tall for me, and I felt like I was sitting on it, not in it. With the Ducati I can nestle into that seat and feel one with the bike. My husband has the 2024 Triumph Street Triple and he loves it. I’m not bonded to the Ducati trellis frame and I do appreciate the lighter weight, so I have no issues there. I like the bison-like shape of the fuel tank so it gets style points from me. It is fun, too.

    10:56 "Middleweight"?! It's amazing how performance levels have moved on in 30 years. This latest Monster has just 3bhp less power and 3lb-ft more torque than the original 916. And yet it still meets the latest Euro 5 emission limits.

    • @rns6889
      @rns6889 Месяц назад

      Middleweight make 100-150 horsepower now buddy 😂. Also can't ignore the fact that motorcycles of the same displacement have been able to shed almost 30 kilograms compared to 90s and early 2000s motorcycle of the same displacement. The honda rc51 was 210+ kilograms for only being less than 100 cc more than this motorcycle. So calling a 765 a middle weight makes sense probably because it only weights 188 kgs (414 lbs).

      @ for an msrp of 16k? Taxes tags and dealer fees are gonna add a few grand to that and i dont see dealers taking a 4 thousand dollar loss on just the msrp. You sure you arent looking at places selling them for 12k Euros?

    I test rode the Supersport 950 S. Same setup but so much more comfy. I absolutely love that bike but it is just overpriced at 18k IMO. Especially since 2 years ago it was 2k cheaper than it is now and is exactly the same. Makes no sense. That being said the quality felt unlike other bikes. It just feels really premium

      I have a 2022 Monster plus and I’ll agree the exhaust is hard to get used to coming from a Triumph Bonneville which sounded like angels purring. At first it sounded like my bicycle when I was a kid with the playing card hitting the spokes as one did back then. I’ve since gotten more used to it, and the sound upon deceleration with the pop pop pop is pretty awesome. But I get your point.

    The Monster took the aesthetic from the Honda Hawk 650. It did not start the naked movement, it stole it from honda. Honda had the single sided swing arm, and tried, but was too ahead of its time.

    Just get a supersport. If you're feeling really adventurous, chop the fairing down a bit and expose that awesome trellis frame.

    I hate how they couldn't keep any of the old trellis aethestic. Is the weight savings really worth that? Were customers really aching for a 40lb weight reduction? I'll stick with my 620 and 1200.

    • @AM-uk7jv
      @AM-uk7jv Месяц назад +1

      Yes, the weight savings is worth the lack of a trellis frame. The new Monster destroys all other Monsters in the past, specifically because it weighs so much less than any of them. If you want something more traditional, get a Scrambler.
