The world is (FINALLY !!!) starting discovering that PROGRESSIVE music is CLASSIC music, in the way it has been composed in the first place. Personally speaking I got that few decades ago ...
I understand exactly what you mean. When Yes did "Tales...", that was the awakening for me, to realize the truth behind the orchestra serving as a nice warm bed for prog to fall right into. Wonderful insight, User Mister!
@Master Of Puppets Classic is timeless. That's the whole concept of being it. Bach is classic... "aged now" isn't about classic. A lot of Progressive Rock is classic. Miles is classic. Coltrane is classic. Period!
@@italoop7850 Classic is timeless, because it's rooted in nature hence ourselves ... Bach kind of started it, and Progressive Rock seems to be (so far) its last evolution ...

These concerts are the first time I've heard anything redone with an orchestra that I could even tolerate, and this is just INCREDIBLE! Well done Mr Hackett!
After seeing Steve Hackett at the Phillips Center in Orlando I can’t wait to see the band again regardless of the who is the vocalist. While Nad Sylvan is terrific I really dig this version of “DWTMK” and other prog songs Todmobile collaborated on, like “Awaken” with Jon. Fresh take!

Beautiful. Happy Full Moon of July Full 7/9 at 4:09. You just get to see it. Sunset 11:41 pm. Sunrise 3:24 am. Wow! Its a great full moon to dance to! Thanks for a great performance.
What does Peter, Phil, Mike Tony think of this? What is their view about new fans discovering their earlier material, and Hackett doing the revisited material?
Saying the Mellotron was a cheat, is like saying a cutoff saw is a cheat to building a house. If you have no clue on building a house, a cutoff saw is useless. Plus, the whole 8 second thing is just a pain.
was 14 when I heard this song. played it at home. my old school father went crazy and told me never to play "drug music again"...i ended up a heroin addict, now by the grace of god decades clean. obviously not my late dad's fault but wtf parents should be slightly more open minded, shouldn't we? besides it wasn't drug music at all. wasn't it??
This version maybe good I couldn't say. When you have played an album 400 times and loved every moment (except More Fool Me) I just can not listen to anyone else. Collins solo is fine on Seconds Out but the duo of Gabriel and Collins was magic. The whole band was magic .
Wonderful, simply wonderful!

ProgRock like this is timeless !!! The 70's where overwhelmed by this kind of masterpieces. Lucky am I being young in this era !!! Very good show !!!
Unbelievable version, very very good
This song goes to a whole new new level with an Orchestra .. Wow !!
Definitely:) It's as if you could imagine Genesis collectively thinking 'THAT is how we imagined it in our head!'
Yes
merci Steve Hackett pour ton Génie
Very few musical genres are able to tell stories as perfectly as prog rock.
If you were lucky enough to be in that audience consider yourself BLESSED. Good grief what a Performance!
Dougie Fresh I was
I was! Been to many concerts, this one stands very much out for many reasons
A choir instead of mellotrons. WOW !!! (3:47)

I'd buy a DVD of this show.
One of the best Genesis-Songs and such an amazing version!
That singer has a voice as clear as crystal. Great performance all round.
Todmobiles renditions of classic prog like this blows me away every time, I would love to experience this live one day.
The choir singing the Mellotron parts!

I wish Peter would rework the material along with Steve and these orchestras.

What does Peter, Phil, Mike Tony think of this? What is their view about new fans discovering their earlier material, and Hackett doing the revisited material?
Songs like, "I Can't Dance", made them lots of money. Songs like this separate them from other bands. It is a whole other level of musicianship.
They probably wish they were still involved. The orchestra takes a great piece of music to a stratospheric level
Completement géniale Steve Hackett IQ 240
Кайф!!!!!!
If only Steve had THIS singer for his solo shows...
le génie
is this available on dvd ? (or blue-ray)
WOW
❤
Interesting to hear a real choir instead of the familiar Mellotron one.
Mellotron was a "cheat" to recreate flutes orchestra and choir without employing real musicians :-)
But it became a cool trademark sound !!!
Saying the Mellotron was a cheat, is like saying a cutoff saw is a cheat to building a house. If you have no clue on building a house, a cutoff saw is useless. Plus, the whole 8 second thing is just a pain.
A choir is an excellent, but cumbersome and costly, element of prog.
brill why is Ray not in the Steve Hackett band?
I wept...
God
master
Is Dance on a Volcano the next?
it was next on the concert
Do caramba, foda !!!
Eythor sings this like he's been waiting his whole life to sing these lines. And Tod seems to be in rapture at times too. I don't blame them one bit.
:)
all hallows alive
