Great video. Now I do have a question. I am currently going through a major career change. I am going from being an esthetician owning my own business to becoming a banker. I particularly want to become a Relationship banker but don't know how I can give an elevator pitch with my background being so different? I feel I have not gotten a job in the banking field because my previous career has nothing to offer to my new career. How could I navigate this situation? Thanks!

Hi Jennifer! Great advice. I’ve watched all of your videos pre interview and I think I nailed it. Even though the recruiter said they were conducting interviews for the next 3 weeks, I got a call the very next day letting me know that they wanted to move forward with the background check. Good news right? I have some questions regarding the salary negation if they do call with an offer. Is there an email address we can chat?

Hello Jennifer, my issue is I'm trying to completely change roles. I'm going from a job in a retail setting to pursuing a career as a human services professional. How would I create an elevator pitch that shows my value at the entry level?
Hello Towanda, thanks for visiting the Career Success Channel. Elevator pitches are generally used when in a role, settled and actually completing tasks aligned to the role. That said, your true focus at this point should be using your resume to identify what skills and roles you have that can transfer to the new role that you are seeking. When interviewing for a new role, especially when pivoting, you want to do the research on the core skills needed in the new role. You will use that opportunity to speak on which skills you have experience on, which skills you are aware that you will need to build (and how) and which skills you hope to build longer term. Speak about the "how", and it will show that you did the work to pivot. Best of luck to you ahead.
Great tips !
Mam could u tell is there any way to achieve the target salary in 2-3 yrs of experience at job when 5 yrs are required on an average to reach that point ?
Great question and thank you for asking! If a minimum requirement is that you have 5 years of experience and you have only 2-3 years, it is likely that you will not be considered for that role unless you are able to demonstrate transferrable experience that is suitable to get you up to the five years. So, it is not about hitting the salary, it is about focusing on how to demonstrate the five years of experience. Once you demonstrate the five years of experience, the salary follows the role. Focus on experience.

I'm going on my second interview next Tuesday. I don't need an elevator pitch at this stage, right?
Excellent follow up question and congratulations on your second interview! An elevator pitch is intended for your initial introduction, so if you're interviewing with a different individual it's a great idea to use your elevator pitch. Thank you for watching!
