One thing that gets overlooked with the FX30. It's an excellent camera to grow as a film maker. Yes, Full Frame has us spoiled. It's nice to work on things
Thoughts on this as I have the FX3, FX30, and R5C. Sony kills canon on battery life so I felt the battery life was great. FX3 and FX30 are the only two cameras I plan to use on any weddings I shoot moving forward. I actually turn off log shooting mode but use slog 3 still. The fact that you have to have Sonys software really slowed down my workflow. I would have to adjust something in their software then bring it back to resolve. Overall great review I feel like I need to do a review now lol.
I own both the FX-3 and FX-30. These cameras (on autofocus) are constantly focusing whether you are recording or not) if you want to preserve battery life, shut the camera down unless you are recording. You will get significantly more battery life by doing that.
Not sure if you still think this but I'd absolutely steer any beginners away from the CIne EI. They will expose their shots by looking at their monitor but what they see in their monitor is not gonna be what they're recording. I'd stick with SLog3 with Flexible ISO and just shoot at base ISO of 800 or 2500. That way they'll get the best dynamic range, lowest noise, ability to switch to a different ISO if the situation requires and most importantly, what they see on their monitor is gonna be what they record.
Thank you for tips , i just purchased a Sony Fx30 and would like lens recommendations. I understand there is no One lens does all; however, I would like to just purchase one for the time being that can do a lot of different things. I've heard the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 a few times. Thanks
I highly recommend HLG (not HLG3 which is good but nasty noise reduction). It's a fraction less dynamic range than SLog3 but lots of latitude, and fool-proof. I use it on my a7SIII. Give it a shot and test it at home. Turn REC2020/gamma assist on.
Great imagery. Thank you for sharing your work and views. APS-C cameras get a lot of hate. I came across someone in an FX30 Facebook group who criticized the FX30 because it has an APS-C sensor. When I asked him what his reasons were, he simply said "crop sensors are crop sensors". I was going to ask him why he was posting in a group that was for FX30 users if he was so critical of it. But, I realized he was probably just trolling the group looking to trigger its users. I've owned the FX30 since it was released. Like any new camera I get, the first thing I do is test the features I bought it for. So, I tested the dual ISO's of 800 and 2500 to verify that they were similar in noise levels as advertised. And, of course, the test was successful. I've seen pro-colorists grade FX30 footage who then went on to praise the quality. As you said, no camera is perfect. But, for the price point, the FX30 definitely proves its worth.

Some people can be so closed minded and feel their opinion is the only right one when in reality, its all subjective and there are so many different variables for the individual. LOVE the FX30 and the price point. It's such a beautiful camera that challenges other manufacturers to create something better. Its all good things in my opinion. Thanks for your comment! The low light is not a problem at all. Just watch your exposure and pick a cine lens at 1.05. Arri Alexa 35 is a Super 35 and no problem with low light. This debate between FF and Super 35 is overrated.
@@Aaditya1ad Sony produced a cinema camera. Use cine lenses then from Zeiss Sigma even 7artisans with T0.5 to T1.5. There's no problem with low light if you know as well how to expose. I have seen the light and it is good! haha I still love S-Cinetone for projects that need a quick turn but for more detailed works, S-Log adds so much for production value in my opinion.
I disagree. I really like the sharpness of the fx30 vs fx3 in optimal conditions. It’s when you are in non optimal conditions that the fx3 really shines
That doesn't apply to the FX30. It has two card slots. It is also highly unlikely to overheat because it has a fan. Shoot, the A7Siii doesn't have a fan and it doesn't overheat either. The lack of them overheating is a big reason why I own them and other Sony cameras.
Overall inage quality...not. the image quality us literaly the same. The image quality is not been affected by a bigger sensor in this case. Another advamtage, the apsc lenses are cheaper 🤤

The low light is not a problem at all. Just watch your exposure and pick a cine lens at 1.05. Arri Alexa 35 is a Super 35 and no problem with low light. This debate between FF and Super 35 is overrated.
Can you please elaborate? I’ve spent past pew weeks trying to figure out this same question.
@@Aaditya1ad Sony produced a cinema camera. Use cine lenses then from Zeiss Sigma even 7artisans with T0.5 to T1.5. There's no problem with low light if you know as well how to expose. Arri 35 is also a Super 35 sensor and we never had problems with noise. Even if you have FF cameras and you don't know how to expose you will get noise.
can u tell me the camera monitor u r using sir ?
The Feelworld F6 - amzn.to/3PdgPYJ
Hi did you shoot the wedding in 4K?
I did!
Would anyone happen to know if the FX 30 can record 4K30, 60 with a monitor attached for maintaining 10 bit
Reason why I ask is because I have a Nikon Z 6 ii and it does not put out 4K 30,10 bit.
@@pix_by_jay I recorded in 4K 422 10 Bit with a FeelWorld F6 Monitor attached all day.
@@WaywardNorth thank you. That will definitely help my decision on purchasing the FX 3. I will also look at that monitor. Have a good one.
Can I ask you what mic you use on the video and how much does it cost? Because the sound is great on this.
Its the Shure SM7B mic - amzn.to/3MJ4cT4
Thanks for responding! I appreciate it! @@WaywardNorth
Hey Jaired love the look youre getting with SLOG3 did you create a custom lut? Ive been struggling with colors when it comes to skin tones and slog 3.
Hey friend! Thanks so much friend. I just used one of my luts in this one. I believe it was Unveiled Subtle.
Wow amazing
Thanks friend!
Very nice review... almost all reviews about the FX30 talk about low lowlight capabilities, I currently use Sony a7 III and Sony a6600... my question is, is it better or better or weaker in lowlight than the 2 devices I already have? And what would be the best zomm lens for her? Thank you
a7iii is better in low light
a7c or fx30 70% video 30% photo?
FX30 for the ergonomics and overall design. The A7C is too small for me. Great cam just not my first choice
Great camera! Looking to get b-cam 🤩
Whats with the dreamy look? Lens filter or LUTs?
Thanks😊
Thanks man! It’s a little bit of both :) I’m using the Black Pro Mist 1/4 Filter combined with my lut pack.
i bought the fx3 as my a-cam and use now the fx30 as my b-cam BECAUSE the fx30 bad low light performance, battery life and the crop mode :(
If I had the budget for the FX3 I’d get it as well!
Your slog3 footage looks amazing. Did you use a lut?
Thanks so much! I used Gamuts Rec 709 Lut & then used my lut pack to stylize/finalize the look 🙏🏻
Slog3 gang
Super!
After using fx30 for 3 months came to conclusion Less Battery Issue is due to cooling fan
yah it really sucks up battery really fast
i used tyo be like you shooting s cinetone. SLOG 3 is WAYYYY better. In extreme low light then i use s cinetone,
I have seen the light and it is good! haha I still love S-Cinetone for projects that need a quick turn but for more detailed works, S-Log adds so much for production value in my opinion.
Too loud background music
Thanks for the feedback!
I disagree. I really like the sharpness of the fx30 vs fx3 in optimal conditions. It’s when you are in non optimal conditions that the fx3 really shines
ayeeee
One slot for memory card on a wedding…I don’t know…And also overheating problem. Here in Spain, in summer, is imposible to short with Sony cameras.
Overheating with 4k@30 all the time,
Yeah, I got a lot of footage......
Joli
So what your saying is don’t have high expectations 😂😂
Can't you hook up an external battery?
Yeah you can run a v mount system to help with better battery life
@@WaywardNorth And some of the amount battery's are small and last 7-8 hours. That would be good to include.
Kinda tired of slow mo footage of wedding. It gotta be the most boring kinda of video. It's repetitive. I want to see some real short movies being made!
Sorry to hear this one didn’t connect with you friend! I agree slow mo is totally over-used. My thought behind using it here was to highlight more of quality and color with the FX30. Thanks for your feedback! 🙏🏻
Treat Yo Self!!!
You already know!
No Sony camera is a dream camera. Leica,Hasselblad, and Red
It’s all subjective my friend. Depends on the user, needs, goals, realistic budget, etc.
3 words for you 😂

almost the same price with S5iix no brainer
Crazy good value for the price!
