Assuming you use the same silicone grommet in both the 309M & the original 309 HelpMe lever, is there any notable difference in performance between the two? I like to hit the collar in the 309M when I wavedash & backdash, so I'm wondering if the raised collar of the HelpMe lever makes much of a difference in feel.
Edit: Read your blog post and you said the difference was hard to explain, but I'd like to know more if at all possible. Diagonal input ease is one of my concerns. I recently spent $250 for Fanta levers + mod kit, but after a lot of testing I concluded that they were not suited for me... Too much open space for the shaft & diagonal angle is too small. Does not fit someone who must hit the collar to feel inputs like me.

The feel is almost the same when using the same parts.
It is designed to be mounted on a stick other than Korea, and the feeling is just the same.
If the diagonal input is too difficult, it is advisable to retrofit the microswitch.

The thing is, i mean people talk all this bs about 25, 35, 60 grommets, collar etc... It's a simple physics how these rubber/silicon centered joysticks work. Now let's say you are hitting the collar of the joystick what happens? The shaft of the joysticks traverse ~ bends in the angle until it hits the top of the collar, so the collar restricts how far you can pull out the joystick, how far you can force the rubber/silicon grommet. If the collar isn't there the traverse is longer, and the force you can achieve on the grommet is stronger. The further you can pull the shaft the closer the actuator gets to the switch ~ the better it pushes the microswitch lever ~ the wider diagonals you get. Probably you experienced this as you tried fanta mod kit.
The main speciality in these korean styled joysticks is this: the more you pull the more force the rubber/silicon grommet makes. (Think of it like a bow and arrow...) For example on my "myoungshin fanta" which supposed to be like 50 grommet, i can make the joystick wiggle so much that it would trigger in multiple switches... even with its standard higher collar.
Now back onto your main question: "is there any notable difference in performance between the two?", yes kinda, with a shorter collar you pull more, you make more force onto the grommet, you may wiggle more... however if you put in a harder grommet, while the force you make by pulling will be better, the counterforce of the grommet will be also higher so it may wiggle less.
Collar and stiffness of the grommet balance is what you are dealing with but what works for you, just stick with it.

Crown levers are awesome because there's less to break.

      Different people have different preferences.
      I prefer 35 for 309 levers.
