The sound quality on this is incredible for the 70's period. Mostly Schon's Les Paul and Marshalls. Dunbars drums are exceptional. Rolie certainly deserves most of the credit for this band, and is recognized as an inductee to the hall of fame. Steve Perry was a smart add on for this time frame, Rolie and Perry gel together well in 78-81. After 81, Rolie left and Journey became a different experience. Thank you Gregg Rolie, your footprint is the band called Journey.
Ross Valory playing an Early Peavey T-40 bass, those were pretty heavy basses, he also tuned his bass lower than most back then , BEAD....
I was lucky enough to see Journey twice in 1981, here in Detroit, spring and fall of that year! The shows were awesome, love me some Journey! ❤❤
Cobo Arena?
Totally agree! Greg and Steve....the best mix up. Complimented each other.
Great download thank you so much this is terrific.
OMG u guys, don't u love this?? I've been a Journey/Steve Perry for 40 years, this is music people! Love it! Damn!
Not Only are they Handsome but they can sing. Love the Gregg Rolie/Steve Perry vocal god duets of the late 70's and 1980! Also, love the rock god look, open shirts with the bell bottoms and boots. Gorgeous men...both of them!
Two of my favorite guitar solos ever......hairs on the back of my neck stand up EVERY TIME
I feel the same way. Just incredible.
NEVER be anything better. When my now wife and I were dating back in the late 70’s we played THE SHIT out of this album. Good times.
UNFORGETTABLE PERFORMANCE!!! I'd say there most iconic performance! Steve Perry is the man! The greatest male singer ever in my opinion! Truly worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Neil's fro is MAGNIFICENT
This is great!!! i always loved how perry and rolie played off each other. Its a shame rolie left so soon it would have been very interesting to see what the band's direction would have been in the 80's
I love the Perry led era. This was great too but songs like Lovin Touchin Sgueezin Separate ways , any way you want are the best. Perry was just magigal once they broke away from Rolie/Perry duo. Rolie was kind of holding Perry back.
@@quincylogan5922 sad but true he should have continued to write from them as a ghost writer.
Rollie and Perry were a vocal One Two punch. Journey's best years.
I don't think I've ever seen Steve so genuinely happy! His voice...my God, Such a talent from heaven.
Just Love Steve Perry & Journey! He is so gifted & talented singer..Love his voice!!
It was great to be young at that time. Twelve when I first heard Journey on the radio. One of my favorite songs with Greg and Steve singing together. Total magic.
I would like to remind everyone that this wonderful misic would not have been possible without LIBERTY !
One of the best songs....ever.
That's one of the best guitar sounds I've ever heard! Beyond meaty!
That tone, and that 'fro combine for some serious mojo.
Neal Schon rocks!
That Jew fro. LOL
@@robertheintz8017 he is not Jewish nor of Jewish ancestry.
🤓. Now THIS IS JOURNEY! NO lip syncing! Love it!
I forgot this song!!! I grew up in the 70’s…the best decade of music!!! 🍻☮️
There will never ever be someone As good as Steve Perry! Extraordinary singer!
He's a great vocalist, but MANY great ones.....
My very fave from Journey. I like their old stuff the best!
Steves voice is so good at this time....
Journeycanadafan, I've watched this footage sooooo many times. It was the icons in their inception and at their best in my opinion. Thank you so much. Can not get enough of this show.
Great live performance! I saw Journey live around 1978-79. There was so many good bands back then and I didn't appreciate just how good they were. I'm 62 years old now. It seems like rock music barely exists anymore.
I. know. Nick,. These. guy's. we're. fucking. awesome,. and. the. lead. guitar, had. to. be. one. of. best. of. the. time,. If. not. the. best.
Same
Love the tunes where Greg and Steve trade vocals. So cool! Always loved tunes from this period.
As great as Greg is on this song, I’ve always felt like this song was the moment Steve became the lead singer of Journey. Such a powerful voice on the original recording.
there is something going on here, clearly. the original singer is being overtaken by this new badass. painfull blessing to the world.
One of my favorite Journey songs, I always hear a tinge of Chicago in Greg’s voice.
@@lynnfuller6163Brllliant, Gregg does a very soulful voice similar to Terry Kath
@@MegaByrdsRollie was getting ready to leave anyway
Steve Perry is something else. So glad I grew up with his amazing talent. Gregg is great but Steve is on another level. Neal is a beast.
I remember i was 15 or 16 years old, riding along with my Dad driving, and this song came on the radio. My Dad, who was a bit square with music and seemed to just tolerate my preferred radio stations, actually turned this song up as soon as Perry started belting it out. "Now THAT is singing" he said, I agreed and for the first time i think, we connected over music. This song always brings me back to that moment. Every single time. One of my favorite songs ever since. Miss you Dad. ❤
Blessed to be apart of this time!
Everytime I hear these two sing I think of my youth. Shooting pool ,playing pinball and foosball. A little smoke and good times. 😊😊
For sure the best of times being a teenager in the Golden Age of Rock and in the '70s. We got lucky.
No lip sync for these dudes. Great memories!!
Great vocal harmonies and NO autotune. This is goodness which cannot be faked.
Being 19 years old in 78, this song brings back so many memories of being stationed at FT Hood😢
Journey was phenomenal back then and loved seeing them come to Boston twice a year every year.
My very first time of seeing this amazing band! With Steve and Gregg! It was just...well. I almost fell out of my wheelchair! I was 19 at the time! Time flies! I do adore this man!! (Steve Perry, I mean! I've always loved Gregg, too, though!
