Tubbo genuinely thought he was about to die, and he wanted to make sure that his last words to his best friend were assuring Tommy that he was his own, independent person, he had worth as a separate person, and he didn’t need to rely on anybody else for validation. Tubbo knew that Tommy heavily relied on others as a source of self-worth and didn’t see himself capable of existing as his own person, and Tubbo wanted to let him know that Tommy was worth it on his own, he was worthy of existing and living on just by being himself, and even though he was going to lose Tubbo, he was going to make it on his own. Even without others, Tubbo knew that Tommy has his own self-worth, and Tommy doesn’t need to weigh himself solely based on the value that others give him. He’s his own person. And Tubbo wanted Tommy to know that, even if it was the last thing he would ever do.

if everything had gone dream’s way, tommy would have been in the prison, probably being manipulated again. tubbo trying to stay positive was,, sad, but also nice. he didn’t want tommy to be more negative about it than he needs to be.
honestly overall this scene was both nice, and sad
@@kazzoey2868 the meaning is that even if Tubbo is gone he knows that Tommy will at least still be alive, will have a chance to rise again, to one day make it back to that bench with those discs and listen to his favorite song, his best friend living on in his memories.
Quackity’s “you fucked up” at the end totally got me. How he’s standing alone, holding a battle axe, facing the last person on the L’Manberg enemy hitlist, even though the country is gone, guaranteed to win with the whole SMP by his side, fulfilling a goal he’s had for so long. The callback with him words, intentional or not, to when Tommy first said the same thing to Eret during the revolution.
The whole thing is beautiful, but I especially like Quackity’s bit. I don’t watch his streams all that often but he definitely deserves more attention.
totally! Quackity’s character is super interesting, and I’m glad he finally got a win by helping take down Dream (even though his part may have been small!)
It’s made extra bone chilling by what happens later between them…

I only feel chills. That’s sene is scary in a way unlike a normal scare.
Tubbo's black soul-less eyes were just... they hit so hard. The only time they changed was when Tommy was telling him about how he was the sidekick and Tubbo had tears in them. But the scenes of Dream changing were chilling! Ahhhh! This entire thing was making me cry again, even though I've heard these lines so many time. I love you facial expressions . The anguish in Tommy's face, god. I have no idea what would have happened if Tubbo was killed.
Things about this I love:
1. RP Dream glitching from his smiley face self to his real self in the last scene
2. How Tubbo kept putting his hands behind his back as a closing pose
3. How Tommy’s eyes were detailed but Tubbo’s were dull, showing defeat
4. Tommy’s face when he noticed Punz stepping through the portal, that was hilarious
5. Also I loved how the screen panned over to the pets in the fences but they had their blocky-in game looks haha
6. The two final pose shots, it was so cool!!!
I loved the last Quackity pose. The beanie made it even better
The smiley face was his real face dude
Minor detail but I am in LOVE with the design for Puffy it's so good
Oh and when everyone came through the portal Tubbo got the light in his eyes again because there was a little white light in his eyes in the end
One other thing I would add is the emotion suddenly on Tubbo's face when Tommy said he was his sidekick
I noticed this, this is scene really shows the difference in Tommy and Tubbo’s thought processes.
Tubbo thinks logically, he’s examined the situation, saw the pieces on the board, and calculated the possibilities and accepted defeat when he saw no way for them to escape.
Tommy thinks with his emotions, he won’t give up hope, he’s come too far and they’ve done so much, he is not going to backdown. He believes they can find a way, they can save the day, and be happy.
It’s such a really neat part of their characters, and how they foil each other.

It's what's interesting about Tubbo's character. While very calm, collected, calculated; No one can truly be comfortable knowing they will die. Especially from execution. You can see seldom cracks; his arms shaking even though he hides them, nervous sweat stains rolling down his face. As much as he makes it appear like he isn't, he's terrified. He does a terrific job at hiding it though.
@@MariaMartinez-si8zx nah that wasnt a canon reaction. Tubbo was more so shocked and in disbelief with his real reaction. This isn’t the first time people have told him that Tommy was dead. So it makes sense for him to be unsure.

Tubbo excepting death is... chilling. Even more so since he made it out alive.
My theory is that because tubbo has had many near death experiences, he has became somewhat desensitised to death and just goes along with it. Might also show his lack of sympathy or empathy towards other characters.
The fact that tubbo 100% thought he would canonically die and to be alive was the least likely outcome is so heartbreaking
@@Ninhydride I really don't know if I would say tubbo has a lack of sympathy/empathy tbh, especially considering how easily trusting he is and how his whole aim of his presidency was to try and make other people happy and at peace
@@sadz42 if you look at how he acted during Doomsday you'll notice just how desensitized he is, he showed very little emotion, not to mention the argument in the community house (or what was left of it.) Sure, he showed anger and sadness but after Tommy's whole "the discs are worth more than you" thing he just kinda shut down. He's been getting better tho (rp tubbo not irl, just wanna make the distinction, they are 2 very different people.)
In my opinion he calmly accepted death was because of Tommy’s line “the discs were worth more than you ever were”

This scene still SHATTERS and REBUILDS my heart each time,, their expressions are so lovely?? Tommy looks so heartbroken as he's about to lose his best friend. Tubbo eyebags growing more and more prominent as the scene goes on. Tubbo standing closed off hands behind his back. Whether it's to look like a president in charge or to hide his shaking hands from Tommy, we'll never know :((

They eye bags are like a way to show how he has accepted it, and it makes sense with his character.
His character has matured so much throughout the series.

Like, as powerful as the "Yourself" line is, Tommy's little "please dont go"s just fucking BREAK my heart, and paired with your art and the motion, I am simply deceased.
The best thing about this moment is that usually Tubbo is known for being the emotional one, but in his lowest moment, we see Tubbo be the good friend Tommy needs. It’s so bittersweet to think that they spent a month apart, only to be reunited to fight against Dream one last time. And at the point where it felt like it truly was the end, the whole SMP, people who both Tommy and Tubbo have touched in both good and bad ways, come to the rescue. At that point, it didn’t matter wether they hated Tommy and Tubbo or hated Tommy and Tubbo. All the mattered was defeating Dream. 👏👏 good work!
Personally, Tubbo is far more logical than Tommy, so I feel as though his reaction makes sense

I think Tubbo was trying to soften the blow of his death so it seemed like a relief rather than a punishment. He knew Tommy had almost ended it all in just a week of depressive loneliness and wanted to try and make it seem less like he was alone and that it was just farewell for noe

The line "what am I without you?" "yourself" hurts so much. So does the "It's about time anyways"
It sort of showed how Tubbo also thought that he wasn't much help (which isn't true) and that the server would be alright even if he were to die right then and there. People have been glossing over the fact that Tubbo was one of the most traumatized ones on the server if not the most. He's canonically 17 now and he has been through all of the wars and helped MAJORLY in every single one of them. He grinded and got weapons and potions for the first revolution and after that, he helped by being a man on the inside and eventually losing his second life. Note that in Manberg, he didn't really had anyone. Niki was revolting, Fundy was trying to earn Schlatt's trust and Quackity.... Well, he was the vice. And even after the Manberg situation, he never really got a break. He was forced into the position of power and everyone expects him to fix what was barely left of their home. While being expected to do that, he was also forced exile his best friend and was peer pressuredinto trying to execute Technoblade. He thought Tommy was dead and planned a funeral only to be called a monster by the person presumed dead. Philza, his canonical dad, was against him the entire time and destroyed the last bit of home L'manberg was. It's sad, really and amazing how he still see's the bright side of people and situations after all those betrayals and trauma.
Someone needs to write a therapy arc but by the looks of Ranboo's most recent lore stream, the eggpire, and the whole 'wilbur not ghostbur' scenario, that's not going to happen anytime soon, isn't it?

I love the fact that you made it seem like Tubbo was trying to stay strong for Tommy. He knew that Tommy was freaking out so he was trying to act strong and was trying to assure Tommy that everything would be fine. I think that's what makes Tubbo's goodbye so heartbreaking, that you can tell that he's trying to act strong for the sake of Tommy
I really appreciate how you did Tubbo’s expressions in this one. No shame or slander to other artists but this is how I pictured Tubbo looking. Trying to stay strong for Tommy and not cry because he knew it’d just make things worse and Tommy would act out irrationally as a last ditch effort.

Punz saying “you should have paid me more” is my favorite quote of the entire smp story. The feeling of confusion to surprise to happiness and relief was instantaneous.
No one talks about how much Sapnap telling Dream to step away H U R T S. Dream, this green blob with :) on his hecking chest, just completely left Sap and George behind in order to obtain more power. Sapnap, someone who just wanted his friend, told him to *step away* literally *protecting* Tommy and Tubbo. Sapnap, in one of the streams, asked Tommy if he thought Dream cared about him (since Dream had gotten pissed off and yelled at Tommy that he didn't care about anything other than the disks) and Tommy flat out told him "no." At the start, they were literally best friends, building the community house, having the pet wars and disk wars and everything...
Sapnap and George literally had to deal with the fact the community house was blown up. He admitted it right in front of Sapnap only minutes later to this in the stream.

(also, personally, when Tubbo says "yourself", i hear it as more of a question of like, 'who else would you be?' And with that said, Tubbo's just saying the Tommy was always Tommy, Tommy will always be Tommy no matter how much he might change after this event... god, the angst is strong.)

One of my favourite parts about this animatic is how Dream becomes more human-looking after Punz steps through that portal with the small army he gathered. Dream goes from intimidating to becoming a cornered animal, and it shows with the crazy look in his eyes. He knew at that moment, he had lost.

This is what I've been saying. Also in my opinion tommy's character is insensitive to tubbo. He was so busy saying sorry to everyone else that he never actually sad down and talked to tubbo, the guy he's dragged into all his problems.

This hurt so much watching it. Seeing Punz and the others hit me with a wave of relieve. I was so scared when Tubbo wanted Tommy to choose the discs over him during their fight with Dream.

I was so angry about this event beacuse Technoblade *TRIED* to tell tommy about his tenancy to choose disc over people. But he *STILL* didn't listen, and went right back to trying to get the disc, not caring about anything else. And the saddest part is tubbo just gave up....like he literally just stoped trying to prevent tommy from being so reckless. (This might make me sound rude) but i kinda hate Tommy's roleplay character, and wanted tubbo to die so he could learn his lesson. Yeah i feel bad about Tommy's depressed arc, and the fact that his character is also a child, going through all of this. But i hate the inconsistency and refusal to actually learn his lesson. (Ik this is all roleplay)
Tubbos charachter is so extremely underrated.

C!Tubbo has so much potential, the trauma, the acceptance, the logical thinking- there's so much to work with there. I can rarely find enough content of c!Tubbo and definitely think with this new arc that Tubbos charachger should have more of a role, more to do.

When dramatic things are happening I find Tubbo to be such a chilling character because of how quiet and calm he is compared to everyone else, especially Tommy, shouting and screaming.
I love how Dream went from looking scary, to being scared in 5 seconds.
I just realized how Tubbo says he's a pawn is like representing if he reaches the end of the board they become anything they want. And the entire SMP was the queen. cool
Woah... just how dream starts glitching like he's malfunctioning. It's almost like he's struggling to keep up his form so he starts to take on a more human form as he experiences more extreme emotions.
I swear people were making “Achilles Come Down” animatics for Tommy in exile but I think the same song would be good for this scene too

The conversation between Tubbo and Tommy is just a punch to the gut. Tommy is a person who doesn't give up and Tubbo is a person who just goes with the flow. He didn't fight, he just accepted the fate that he thinks he will have.

Tubbo's acceptance of death is interesting
He was shocked and yet fought in the Final Control Room
He was betrayed and yet defied Schlatt as best he could at the Festival
But against Dream...
He accepts defeat
After fighting so hard, after getting so far, he gives in
I think it's because if they didn't comply, Tommy may live, but not without scars
And I think Tubbo would rather die to spare his best friend rather than live with a permanent target on both their backs
The coming of everyone to the rescue genuinely had me yelling in my room. It had some serious Avengers Endgame vibes to it.
But as much as I’m glad Tubbo lived, the story seemed to go in a tragically meaningful way, and that whole climb-up to Tubbo’s sacrifice was kind of undermined in the end.. It would have rounded Tommy’s character arc really well, as much as his own : the sidekick dying as hero... poetic, tragic.
But I’m curious to see what is to come
The facial expressions you gave them makes this scene even more sad
I find it interesting how in most adaptations of dream, his human form is the god level player despite nobody knowing how he actually looks like. In this, his blob form is the puppet master and his human form is weak. Dream also is half half at the very end. on one hand could just be a really cool way to end the same but i think that it shows how dream is in control and willingly surrenders. Now he couldn’t have took on half of the server but I really don’t think dream is the type to do the whole “i’ve won” villain monologue. dream has at least three people who are willing to help him. I feel like dreams blob form will make a return later on.
this wasn’t in the animatic (which is totally fine, i loved this so much, you did a great job) but when tubbo goes to ranboo when tommy confronts dream and tubbo says “hello minuteman” my heart got warmed so much

This acting is so amazing. Honestly throughout the entirety of the SMP since Tommy joined you see Tommy being all "big and bad" but when we was about to lose his bestfriend he put all that away and showed how much he was hurting and how much he would hurt without Tubbo. The wholetimeline of the Dream giving Tommy PTSD is such a good arch because not only did it give Tommy's character background but it gave his character a different look at life.
Tubbo's acting was also amazing!! Tubbo is normally seen as the bubbly fun emotional character on the SMP but when he thought he was going to die all he did was tell Tommy that it would be ok and that he doesn't need him. This scene will forever be one of my favorites in the DreamSMP because of how much emotion it has and how good the acting is. It also brought Tommy and Tubbo closer together.

This whole scene honestly almost brought me to tears and I love how you drew Tubbo putting on a brave face and doing his best to keep it together for Tommy's sake only breaking at one point when Tommy said that he in fact was Tubbo's side kick and not the other way around ahh I just feel pain-

I cannot get tired of how you style Dream. Like the transformations and shifts, to his facial expressions are so amazing. They truly capture his character and that goes for everyone else of course! How you displayed Tommy and his face being all restless trying to come up with something, and when he see's dream and pulls tubbo away from him. Even with tubbo and seeing how calm he is through his movements. Seeing sapnap stop dream made me very emotional btw :,>
aND- the end of the video was just amazing, Dream and his shifting/morphed self surrounded by everyone

I would like to take a moment to just appreciate the acting and how well the community depicts it
Tubbo is a kind person. When kind people go to battle, they are terrifying because they have accepted that who they are fighting has lost the privilege of their kindness. But when kind people resign themselves, it is even more terrifying since that spirit breaks inside of them. Tubbo sought to comfort Tommy to the end, and he fought Dream, recognizing that Dream was wasted on his kindness. When he was confronted with death, he greeted it like an old friend. Never underestimate true kindness- it is something that few accomplish.

I almost started crying halfway through, and then died when i saw Tommy's face when Punz showed up

Coupled with the nightmarish facade of Dream being eating away and broken as Tommy and Tubbo are taken away from his grasp is wonderful visualized.
