Thanks for your video I’m shopping for a Oneida if you want to chase brownies with pointed sticks we got em I live in Juneau Ak place is thick with bears let me know love those little shooters too gotta get my daughter started here pretty soon .
@@jeffallen6754 start shooting 3 under Gun barrel the arrow and see what distance holding your point on the spot is, you will figure out your distances from there , 3 under is easiest to learn
you should do a vid focusing on what you do with your release hand. I just bought a LH Phoenix in May, centerest Flipper all the way in and I go back and forth being on, or as far off as about 5-6" right at 20 yards sometimes. Any help would be appreciated. keep it up buddy! love the phoenix vids
@@TRIBEDRAKE yeah I believe so. It usually comes off the bow good, always hits straight so I know the centerest flipper is set up right. But every once and awhile I get in a slump where it hits right. I haven’t been shooting fingers long. Maybe it’s just that I have to just shoot more. I’ll keep at it and make sure I focus on the small things every time I get out
Ever any trouble with the timing cable going bad? The cable that runs through the handle. I shoot traditional and working on... instinctive... I don't use arrow points for pin sight...or gap.. or string walking. My focus is on the spot. Looks to me like the Oneida is designed for finger shooting. I have a black widow recurve PSA 40lb. A ILF Titan 19" riser with 45lb carbon foam recurve limbs which makes a 43lb recurve. A 41lb Fred Bear AuSable long bow 64". Ordered a Rick Welch Pro hunter longbow @ 38lbs for indoor 20yd paper shooting..NOT received yet. But boy your Oneida.... fast arrows... and a compound with no chance of derail shooting with fingers.... really turns me on! LOL. So 1 more question... how often... shooting a little most every day... do the cables wear out and frey... to have to be replaced on the Oneida? Once a yr... once ever couple yrs? How durable are they? Good video.
Just have to watch how ur cables wear, usually once a year is good, timing cable last a long time but it’s just something you have to learn and look at in ur maintenance routine. Stick with factory cables as they give warning signs before they break, they just don’t go all at once. I use to shoot Mathews bows with fingers , never once derailed.
I’ve been shooting split finger with a Mathew’s phase 4 33 with nap flipper, I’ve killed a few animals but always seem to have trouble with arrow flight and consistency no matter what I do or arrows I try. Would an Oneida be that much more accurate shooting fingers and better arrow flight?
I used to shoot the Mathews no cam with good success just like I do the oneida but with a drop away rest, flipper was just to picky on the Mathews, it’s a night and day difference from Mathews to oneida, you would love it. Right now I’m shooting a whisker biscuit cut down, works awesome
It’s definitely picky! I feel like any slight change in how I release with my fingers and the whole tune is lost. I love the sight picture of the flipper though, I reference my tip and then focus on the target an I like having nothing in the way. I draw 29-29.5 would you recommend a medium or a long Phoenix? I like to spot and stalk and shoot from my knees alot, sometimes my butt on the ground, can you do that with the length of the Oneida? No one near me sells them or has any I’ve never even seen one so I’m just on the edge about dropping the cash
@@TylerWillman-ew6zm ya the older Mathews bows are one of my favorites, you will want an oneida Phoenix long with F modules set around 55lbs maybe 60 depending on what you like for draw weight, No worries about shooting from your knees , I’ve done it a bunch of times, not a doubt in my mind you will love it
Hi, you know that felt stuff up by the limb tips? Well on one side has lost some of it. Is that normal so soon with a new bow? It's making uneven measurements
A question for you. You are shooting a 340 gold tip but I've never picked up on total poundage your shooting. I have a tomcat on its way that I got from a man on the east coast 35/55 lbs. I'm thinking @ 50/55 a 400 with 10 grains per inch and 15 to 18 foc hitting (+/-) 525gr at my 27.75 would work fine. I am a huge bare shaft runner. I've been shooting recurves for most of 50 years. Thanks
I don’t calculate all that stuff, if it bare shafts close to perfect then it’s perfect for me. I’m shooting 54lbs with a goldtip 300 right now , 125 grain point
Yes , these bows are so versatile, I shoot canted and vertical, my wife shoots hers with sights and a release. You can use the modules to create a letoff compound feel or make it feel just like a recurve with alot of hold weight
I had the short for a year and ended up selling it to buy something else. Biggest regret ever lol. The 3 problems I had was: 1. I was shooting left with the flipper sometimes unless I tilted the bow to the right a bit which allowed me to shoot quite accurately from a distance. 2. I had a bit finger pinch even with a glove. 3. Draw felt a little short with it being maxed out at 27.5. For finger shooting I just ordered the short again but I’m considering changing my order to the medium. I watched some of your friends videos also and he mentions that the short felt just a bit to short for him. You guys both seem to do just fine shooting the short though. Which is best? Short 27.5 with overdraw Medium with a bit under draw Medium set maxed out at 28.5
@@Kevin-hn6ox I like the feel of the short because of the small cams, I also have a new Phoenix medium, different feel with the bigger cam but it’s not something you would not like. I might sell the medium
@@TRIBEDRAKE Hello I ordered a phoenix from custom shop and got it in today. It’s my first bow. I’m 5’11” 195 pounds, I ordered a medium with 50-70lb draw weight. After trying the bow I feel like the draw weight may be too heavy, even around 50lbs. Do u think I should get the 30-50lb instead? Or try to get used to shooting the heavier weight. Also I would have liked to get the short but I was afraid it would be too short. I have about a 27.5 draw length. What would u recommend?
@@tuncwl you will get that feeling out of the medium, if you get the short, take out the draw stops, break the tails off of the G modules and it will fit you perfect
