    I bought one of those 3d printed plates which happen to not fit quite well..
    Hot tip.. if you aren't so worried about a 100% flush look you can take the existing piece that is there and unscrew the "phone rest" part of the phone holder and keep the blanking plate.

      Thanks Brendan, top tip! That's a shame it didn't fit well, I did have to sand it down a little for a better fit and poke the tab under with quite some force.

    The price for the blanking plate in the US is pricey as well for a piece of plastic especially since the original price was in the $25 range. Where did you acquire the 3D printed version? Is the 3D model available somewhere so that I can print one myself? Thanks.

      You're right, it used to be cheap but I guess old, rare stock get's expensive. I don't know if there is a 3D file afaik, might be work asking the guy on the ebay listing but wouldn't expect so. Good luck :-)

    these parts are running over $150 on eBay now. Any link to a reasonably priced one? Great video, by the way.

      Thanks! Not as far as I know, it fairly dated, new, rare stock so gets expensive. Might be worth checking round the breakers yards but it's a needle in haystack.

      I'm sure there's a 3D model of it around somewhere online, may be worth a search and then print it locally.

    Wait but what kind of phone would fit there?

    • @GeesDrive
      @GeesDrive  2 года назад

      You could buy a snap-in adapter mount for the phones of the time like old Nokia's. Most just had a blank cover like mine.

    I ordered a blanking plate, it's cheap and nasty, it doesn't fit I had to file loads off the top bottom and sides for it to fit, yes there is more room in the glove box for your rubbish but it doesn't look very professional, plus you need either super glue or double sided tape to keep it in plastic, almost £10 with delivery total rip off😢

      After many months in the heat, mine went bad too. I think a better quality plastic on the 3d print may have worked better.
