Adobe, Maxon, Autodesk all are raising price. Maxon & Autodesk raised 5% price on Maya, 3DS Max & Zbrush. Now Adobe as well. That means Substance Painter & Designer will also see a price rise. I am trying to shift my workload to Krita, 3DCoat, Blender & Houdini. As a freelancer I can't cope with this price rise anymore.
😁 *Affinity?* SO loving all three apps. Not perfect, but solid and improving with each update. *Adobe?* SO not missing them draining my wallet monthly. 💵No more RENTAL software. EVER‼
@@KuttyJoe Hopefully they won't make that mistake. They too far behind Adobe (though I do love and appreciate them) to compete head to head. Even with modest subscription pricing, I'm sure they'd lose a large percentage of their base.
@@LV4EVR There will come a time when the number of people who will accept it will make up for the people who refuse go along with it. So they will accept the loss of some users. No company can resist all that easy and reliable money from subscription pricing.
Microsoft has shifted their focus to AI and trying to take market share from Google. Letting Surface innovation go is similar to what they did with Windows Mobile. When it didn't translate into an instant windfall, it became less and less important until it eventually was canceled.
Per magnetic screen protector. Tried it. Well meaning, but dumb idea imo. Magnets don’t play well with other magnets, like your existing magnetic ipad cover. (Which, I would think, most ipad users use.) So, if you want to continuously re-position/reapply the screen protector every time you open your cover, (because it has removed itself,) then fine. If not, like me, you will find it incredibly annoying.
Glad i gave up Adobe a long time ago. I'd be fairly unhappy about paying more every month for a feature I'd never use. Essentially payign more every month so other people could use AI garbage. They really are the worst.
Less than six months after paying for multiple Affinity software they upgraded to v2 and asked me to pay again. I'm still annoyed about that. I actually prefer Adobe's more predictable model, it's nicer than buying Creative Suite discs back in the day.
That is not very fair. Affinity Version 1 came out several years ago, and was a one time payment for years, and a cheap one as well. That you were late to that game and had to get v2 shortly after is a bummer, but they offered very generous discounts, and a v3 with additional cost will probably be a couple of years at least. The value is great. If you want a similar product from Adobe, you would have to pay the same amount you paid for Affinity to use it for 2 months only...
Serif has been straightforward of their licensing model which was the standard model of all software before subscriptions. They were also completely transparent about their versioning, going from 1.0 the way up to 1.9 in the 4-7 years the first versions of the Affinity suite.
They actually helped customers who were late with buying Affinity with discounts last year if you contacted them. They also offered a bunch of bonus assets to download with no additional cost for those who owned V1. The company has been incredibly generous with what they had to offer with V2.
Affinity 1 still works to be fair. And it does a lot. I bought it on iPad first and loved it enough to buy for Mac. The second version I bought that license where it’s on all platforms, and have it on my iPad, Mac and surface pro. The windows versions is missing functions, like pinch rotate that the Mac version has without a touch screen. I still like this model. If you are young or struggling for money the old app will work for a bit longer. Subscription apps in bad times just end.
What do you mean? The original app still works and it launched 8 years ago and still works. If they went to a subscription model that be another thing, but there’s nothing wrong with them launching a new app that will give them funding for 7 or 8 more years of support
Nobody? I earn my living with Affinity software. (Formerly Adobe brand advocate for years.) When v2 came out, I gladly paid for the Universal license. When v3 comes out, likely the same. The alternative is to RENT your software forever. For me and tons of others, that's a hard pass.

Cool dude, I also use freebie software, krita, blender, resolve etc

The only thing I miss from Adobe is image trace. Not worth the monthly subscription though.
Unfortunately every company that sells anything is trying to move to a subscription model. Serif will get there as soon as they can.

Thank you covering this !
damn so now companies are gonna sucker people in with a small compensation for their work being used to train the AI generator. Dang...
Was this video about what's new in affinity or about Adobe AI, magnet cover etc?
Love you man from Syria 🇸🇾🇸🇾🇸🇾🇸🇾
My original version of Affinity Designer runs like a champ. I’ll keep it.
Love your content, from Tanzania🇹🇿
Time for you to update the best drawing apps for android, Brad!
I hate that AI is being used for "art." It shouldn't be, and definitely shouldn't be able to be called art.

Any new cartoon?
What do you mean? Cartoon what?
After they pulled this new version shit nobody is interested.
Imagine getting upset at the industry standard practice of paid full number versions, and a documented version history from v1.0 to v1.9.
