      How do you feel about the lack of a curve at this size. I’m planning on getting it and it will be my first ultrawide.

    • @pc2729
      @pc2729 2 года назад +3

      @@ljtech20 I personally don't like curved monitors, which was one of the reasons why I got the Gigabyte. If you never had an ultrawide, I'd recommend you to go to the store and check out non-curved ultrawides first. From personal experience though, I don't need the curve to see each corner of the monitor.

      What about the Glare Filter? I read multiple times that this monitor has a very strong matte effect and the colors look quite washed out, which is also visible in the review video here. For me it's important that the colors look bright and vibrant.

      You have any issues with back light bleed? I just bought a m34wq and have two small spots along the top left edge where it bleeds in a dark scene. I've heard this can be a fairly common problem, and the bleed is subtle, so I'm trying to decide if RMA is worth the hassle or I should live with it.

    • @Ben-sr8lq
      @Ben-sr8lq Год назад +1

      @@mabm85 I know this is a late response but I might as well say it in case someone else needs to know. Its not worth returning, its a risk you take with IPS every time. The backlight bleed varies, it could be bad or good, or not noticeable. Its just part of the panel tech. I dont find it noticeable though.

    I just ordered this 2 days ago, waited as long as I could, watching now...I hope Im not disappointed. :D I have the LG monitor you spoke of and its broken. It broke 3 months after I initially bought it, got those horizontal lines like most people did with that monitor, LG fixed it, but took 3 months to do so, then I accidentally bumped it 10 months later and the panel got jacked up. It is so disappointing because I love that monitor. I debated on sending it in to get fixed but it would have cost me the same price as this monitor. Eventually I may have it repaired but for the time being, I bought this one. Also had the Asus Tuf VA and sent it back after 2 weeks. The red/green ghosting was HORRIBLE. I'll never buy VA panel again. Its hard to find a good IPS ultrawide that isn't $1000 these days, hence why I jumped on this one.

Doom allows you to fine tune the HDR settings. All games with HDR should have that option so you can adjust the settings to look their best for the monitor you're using. Overall I'm happy with it but there are better monitors out there.

      I just got it, and it's perfect monitor. Have had Samsung 34 CJ791, which MSRP when I bought was ~900 euro. It has VA panel, so blacks suppose to be better, but to be honest, blacks are practically the same, so considering that Gigabyte m34wq have IPS panel the blacks are good and colours are more vibrant compared to VA panel. I would definitely recommend this if you looking at this price point.

Thanks in advance!

    • @socialreport2836
      @socialreport2836 2 года назад +2

      ASUS has got about 4500:1 (tested on rtings) and it's definitely better for movies. If you play games at around 100-120 fps or less, you won't notice a black smearing very much comparing to IPS and yes, curved monotors are more comfortable to watch. If you prefer to play at 165 or even more, you will live with it but the black smearing becomes more apparent. Overall ASUS is better than any other monitor, especially on HDR mode (more than 500 nits). DELL is comparable to it and it costs less (it also depends on a discount). If you want to save some money, GIGABYTE is a way to go.

If you have the 4080 though I'd go for the best, Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 is the cheapest OLED ultrawide that will nontheless look massively better than any IPS or VA panel.

    I wish this had a curve :( that's the only thing that holds me back from buying this. I feel like an ultrawide needs some sort of curve since it's so wide

      I own this monitor and TBH I feel like I don't really need a curve at all for me. In fact, it's 100% usable and my fov is able to see the entire screen even while being so wide.
      I could had gotten a curve but I went for this one and I'm more than happy with it.

      @mitu123Copper yeah, you're right man. I was a bit of a monitor noob back then lol I went with the dell 3422dwg which barely has a curve and it's been great. Good to know yours is good too 😁

      @@tre-ou5gt Oh nice. Hilariously enough I almost went with that exact Dell monitor but went with the Gigabyte to check how a flat ultrawide would turn out and it's much better than I expect it, I have no issues with it. But enjoy the Dell since it's one of the better VA ultrawide monitors in it's price range.

    Been using this monitor with my laptop for gaming- HDMI to HDMI.
    Ive noticed that the FPS is locked at 60fps when using my PC. What cable do I need? I purchased a HDMI (PC) to DP (monitor), passive cable and it cannot detect the monitor.
    Not too tech savy so plz spare me the sarcasm lol

      Go into your Display Settings in Windows and set the refreshrate to 144hz. (windows 10-> rightlick on desktop, display settings, scroll down, advanced displaysettings and there you can change it). A HDMI cable should do 120hz, and DP cable 144hz. No need for a dp->hdmi or vice versa.

      @@themadnes5413 The only options for Refresh Rate in the Advanced settings is 60-90Hz.
      I have this exact display, and i can get +120Hz when my console is plugged in. Tried using that HDMI cable as well.
      Thought that perhaps my PC couldnt pump the frames out at 1440p, but its a RTX3070 so that cant be right. Figured its the cable selection. Latpop has mini DP, figured i should find a mini DP to DP cable.
