I reckon everyone has their own way that works for them. I have a high topper on my pickup to sleep in, and I have a small single axle cargo trailer pulled behind for all my hunting gear. My rig carries everything I need and saves me a bundle of money. I can also relocate quickly to hunt different areas.
If you still have this set up. The way to fix the bed drawer, between the bed bearings, nail a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch piece of wood that will go from one bearing to the other and it will glide with the bearing and not drop when you pull the drawer out.
I do the same thing with my topper on hunts. It's the way to go. I started out with a diy bed just like yours but after 2 seasons I tore it out bc I like the more headroom w/o it.
It varies quite a bit. I generally try to find a state-owned area with designated camping if possible. It's sometimes worth the $10 a night to have a designated area where I know I won't be hassled and feels a bit more secure. But I've also stayed right in the parking areas of a public spot, Wal-Mart parking lots, county parks, state highway rest areas...it just kind of depends on what's around and available as an option.
Do you have updated videos of your camping system since it’s been a year? I’m wanting to do something like this in my truck. I like how yours is set up. I don’t have to worry about cold much being in Louisiana. I just need to figure something out about bugs at night. Also, have you done any week or longer stays out of state in it?
simple and effective

Scrap the propane heat way too damp. eBay or Amazon a Chinese diesel heater.

Where in Michigan are you? S.E. here.
Aka the Practical Sportsman.
Good job man. Where do you usually park? Right at the land you're hunting?
