  • The Ferrari 550 Maranello and the Ferrari 575M Maranello look very similar, but have multiple features that make them very different cars.
    In this video we will point out the differences in the two cars, from small cosmetic items to engine upgrades and more.

    Don't forget about the 456 GT! In regards to your intro, Luca Montezemolo started with the 456 GT (front-engine V12) in 1994, then the 550, then the 575.
    Also Montezemolo was named the president of Ferrari in 1991 (not the 'late 90's').

    • @Tommyblueeyes
      @Tommyblueeyes 3 года назад +3

      Yes but the 456 was a GT...It's successor is actually the 612...whereas the 599 is the successor to the 575 as it has 2 seats and a v12...where the 456 and 612 etc are 2 plus 2

    I'd have thought the main difference between the 2 was the bigger engine; the clue's in the title! About 10% of 575s were manual and just over 200 came to the US. The 550 is more valuable because it is considered to have a superior chassis. The 575 was set up more as a boulevardier, but that was later addressed by the HGTC pack. I found the HGTC 575 to be just as good as the 550 and I still prefer the looks of the more modern car, but that's personal taste. Oh, and one way to destroy the clutch on an F1 trans car of this vintage is to sit at the lights without pulling for neutral. If the bite point is set up even a teeny bit out it can be more hamful than launch control! And lastly, neither is 'a little front heavy'. Open the hood and you'll see how far back the engine is, and the gearbox was in a rear transaxle. Overall weight distribution was 50:50 and they both therefore feel really pointy and agile.

      Main difference:
      -550- 485hp, 320km/h top speed and nice( for front v12 engine RWD car) handling
      -575M- Factory ECU upgrade to 515hp, higher top speed( 325km/h) but little bit worse handling, different front bumper...

      Can somebody out there do a fair comparison between 550 and a 575 manual
      - 575 manuals do exists!!
      Everyone does these tests and always bias towards 550
      Let’s do a fair test and see!

    Please don't do anymore of these worthless sales pitches. She lost me at Daytona's are too hard to drive without power steering, marginal a/c, and driving older Ferrari's from L.A. to Las Vegas could be problematic. I drove my Daytona 31,000 miles over 21 years both in traffic, cross country and high speed track events, all without problems. I also owned a 550 with a stick and would not have wanted anything else. The 575 is a V12 modern tourer with great A/C, stereo and performance package. The only thing missing from the video is where the latte cupholder is since the driver would only need one hand to drive it.
