I logged on just to say. This was probably the best repair video I have ever seen. Clearly shot, amazing lighting, well spoken, actually showing all the testing, perfectly cut and edited, explaining parts clearly, showing the wiring diagram, and best of all teaching your boy at the same time. You are a great teacher! Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
This was a huge help, cannot thank you enough! Ryan will watch this in 10-15 years when he remembers it one day and only then will he realize that it wasn't made for us but it was made for him. You are being a great dad 1st, a helpful mechanic 2nd. Hopefully everyone can keep their priorities this straight.
87 Ranger fuel issue troubleshooting was outstanding. You saved this 64 year old retired aerospace engineer a boatload of time. Thanks so much! Keep up the great work!
It's a pleasure to watch a pro mechanic wield a video camera with perfection as well. You made sure each shot was clear and visible. Explained your moves clearly. Thank you for the time you took to make this and upload it as well.
Thanks for the tip I bought a 1998 ranger for $300 The guy said it just quit running on him he replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter spark plugs then he just gave up on it your video was the first one I watched trying to troubleshoot it and sure enough pushed the reset button heard it click got in fired right up. Best $300 ever spent thanks
I know it’s been awhile since you posted this video but I wanted to say thank you for explaining how you did things instead of assuming we all knew what you were talking about. Thank you.
Hey buddy I was having exactly that problem with my 91 ranger I bypassed the little switch it fixed my truck after several mechanics and a few hundred it’s fixed now thanks buddy
Thanks and yes your hearing is goo.! haha! Born in NY and have lived in Delaware since I was a teenager. So that leaves Pennsylvania stuck right in the middle.
Thanks for your video. It helped me fix an intermittent starting problem on my 96 Ranger. After watching your video I thought about the symptoms I was having. I wasn't having problems running once the engine started. It was just an intermittent crank but no start. I thought that it probably wasn't the collision relay because if that was causing the problem I would also have problems running. Also, if it was some kind of wiring issue, I would also have trouble running. So I came to the conclusion that it was the fuel pump relay because when I shut the engine down, the relay loses power and the armature of the relay must be sticking when I have the intermittent starting issue. I verified this by having someone try to start the truck and when it was having the problem I tapped on the relay with a screwdriver to free the armature and it started right up.
Nice diagnostics there Charles, glad the video was helpful to you. Over time the contacts in the relay can get weak and lazy. Sometimes they can if get stuck in the on position. Fortunately it's not to often. Take care and thanks for the comment! -Ozz
Had similar issue today with a 2000 Ranger, did all the troubleshooting, and at the end everything checked out, it was just stalled, or flooded out, so I pressed the accelerator all the way down to the floor, held it and cranked it, and Voila! It lives. Ryan brought a smile to my face. Cool son you have there. PD: I didn't know about the inertia switch, nice to know that now.
Thanks for the information, after a 150.00$ 3 mile tow charge , and a 100.00$ estimate for around 3-4,000 to fix my ranger I was able to watch your video and fix my ranger myself for 35.00$ + shipping. Thanks you saved me a lot of useless expense.
That was a huge help. I changed my heater core and I must have bumped the inertia switch. I fiddled with it, made sure it was plugged in and it started right up. Thanks!
This is an awesome tutorial. Great job DAD! I've got a crank no start on my 1988 2.3L Ranger. Can't wait to get out there and go through your steps fix my old rig. Thanks!
Mine for some reason, has been bypassed. Unhooked. I’ve got mine running but having issues with it stalling sometimes. I’ve had so much done to my little ranger. Over 1000 dollars in parts and labor. Thank you for your video! Very well done. I could use a good helper Like your son.
86 Ford Ranger 2.9L 2wd Manual. Pressure washed engine, truck ran for 30 minutes, shut off and two days later; Crank won't start checked and cleaned contacts, checked for continuity and traced to fuel relay, fuel relay was, missing voltage on control ground side side. Grounded fuel pump relay at VIP terminal and fuel pump engaged, a little intermittent, may be corrosion on contacts. Runs with starter fluid, 40psi fuel pressure all relays work, inertia works. Opened harness near relays found bare factory splice, not soldered but pressed, cleaned it and truck ran but then 10 min later died, cleaned splice and truck ran, taped splice and moved the harness truck died. Moved harness playing with splice and truck ran. Will spend next day soldering splice and cleaning all contacts, May post video of bad splice as well as well additional probing for voltage in vicinity.
Easy to understand and detailed, too. Wish all videos were like this. My mech doesn't much like me passing on some ideas I've learned from your videos, but a gal needs to save money when she can. (It makes him think I'm not stupid, too!)
Your video was very well done, unlike some others that are incomplete with information, I learned a lot in a short time. Yes my Ranger with the 2.3 just pulled this on me yesterday so I needed the help you gave on your video. Thank you for the help, much appreciated.
I'm back from a year ago. Was driving back from a shopping trip today and Ranger ran fine. After an hour I had to go out again and the truck would crank over but would not start. Just had a new fuel pump installed about 3 months ago and I'm now wondering if it could be the inertia switch. I'll have to start out tomorrow by first listening to the fuel pump to see if it's making the startup sound, forgot to check for that. This vid was very helpful, glad I stumbled across it again. Thanks.
Praise God ! you deserve a Gold Medal , im a ready to give this video a try .Basics ,mine is an 85´ Ford Ranger 4x4 V6 2.8 L .Turns all new starting parts but i saw this switch and believe its close to cranking .a Big THANKS .
Nice find Glen. Good troubleshooting. A lot of the FORD sedans have the inertia switch above the left rear wheel. When I was younger we would slap the body panel to trip the switch if we thought our buddy might drive home after the party, then reset it for them the next day. The good ole days. lol. Looks like you guys had fun at the O'Brachta BBQ.
Haha Mike the good ole days for sure! Yes we had a nice visit and a good time. Only problem is the party's over and now it's back to reality! Yuck. Take care
Thanks for this... my baby just hated me cuz I was selling her.. and been trying to diagnose her for 6mnths. I hope this is my problem. Great video, and great helper.
Same issue here with my '86. Same engine as yours so it was really good to watch this. Now I'm off to thestore to get one of them handy dandy light probe things. Thanks a bunch!
So got my light tester and I'm not getting anything on the control side of the fuel pump relay. I got power and ground on the power side. I jumped it and can hear the fuel pump come on. Does that mean something is wrong between the ignition switch and the relay? Thanks for any feed back.
Power and ground on the power side? Do you mean the load side. Have you tested the relay and what were the results? Then have you checked powers and grounds at the EEC relay? Is the EEC relay working properly? Was a helper cycling the ignition on and off when you did the testing like you see me doing in the video? The EEC resets for after a two second prime and the key will need to be cycled to test properly, NO power then there is a short or a blown fuse :-)
Thanks for working with me but I got as far as I wanted to go. I checked the relays and the inertia switch and had a helper cycle the ignition for me. After my helper left so did morale. And it's too damn cold here in PA to be messing around outside haha. So I had it towed to the shop. At the least it was a learning experience. I now know a little more about how my car works. Maybe next time I'll be able to fix it. Cheers!!
Wasn't everything more robust in the old days? I will say that Yoga pants technology has improved with time. lol Take care Mike, I'm headed Northbound in a few.
Your video helped SO MUCH i hinestly cannot thank you enough man. You should keep the electrical videos going because some of us can rebuild a motor but barely know hot from cold when it comes to wiring and cant read wire diagrams!
Thanks for the comment Toby. It takes time to study and learn electronic diagnostics and it's not always simple. Once you have the general idea it becomes easier.
Comes down to a flakey switch. This is, as a technician, my nightmare to figure out!! flakey switches intermittent!! Great HELP here, will follow your lead on my 2001 today.
@@ozzstars_cars Looked at the one today, (inertia switch) the condition was proper trigger to OPEN and the reading was infinite impedance , then in closed position, the reading wanders all over the place in its impedance just like your did. I figured it cannot possibly produce steady 12v to the pump like this. Any recommendation source for these? Had another person call a few part stores and range price was $45~105! Still had no pump on - energized issue. Traced the 4 wire plug at pump connection above tank RED =12V, Black = ground. So I think pump is faulty. I looked for a secondary high pressure fuel pump on the frame rails. and did not see one in line like your example. Just a fuel filter, nothing else. Next step is to drop tank and check pump when in hand. I could not hear or feel it operating at all, should be able to feel a some motor action yet it was silent. Even jumped the switch to eliminate possibility it's affecting issue and no joy there either. . I believe I have a compound problem, possibly inertia SWT flakey and Pump went bad. Initial issue was, truck ran fine day before, went to start it in the morning, engine cranked and would not fire up. This video gave me a great head start for points to look at.
@ashqelon7267 before anything else did you verify fuel pressure at the rail? What was the pressure? Will the engine start and run on starting fluid to verify its a fuel problem?
@@ozzstars_cars I did not use a gauge to verify pressure as didn't really even think of that. I feel that would have been a deeper troubleshooting if needed could have, yet so let that step alone . Yes it did start for a few seconds 3-5 with ether, until it was consumed, so I was confident Electrical was not part of the problem.
thank you very much I've been checking everything but cud not find a problem ..I'll go to this an replace this just to be sher .. I'm having the same exact problem as you are
Thanks for the video. I'm an electrician but not automotive. My problem is itermittant. I'm going to jump that inertia switch out first, see what she does. I have a 2002.
Thanks man my 88 just got stolen and it wouldn't start after I got it back I've narrowed it down to not getting fuel thanks for the rundown on what to check and where don't really know much about this truck
it looked like the inertia switch was not secure when you first went to test it. I drive really bumpy roads so I will have to check that on mine today! I have an 88 and an 89 Ford ranger. the 88 is the one that's having a fuel problem and hasn't ran for 3 or 4 years, it's the one I'm working on today.
Gonna check my 84 Mercury cougar 2.3 xr7. Same symptoms..checked air, fuel and spark.. every things there..need to check the inertia switch..thanks for the info!!
Great video man super easy to understand you really help me understand how to test for continuity and excellent troubleshooting advice keep up the good work
Great video . I'm having a similar problem with my Ford ranger. It's an 83 V6 2.8 liter manual. I have crank but no spark at all. I replaced the coil, tfi, and pickup coil inside the distributor. It used to run but very poorly and if I gave it any gas it would die. Now there's no spark at all. Not sure if the two things are the same issue.
I have a 2002 Ford F-150. I have replaced the battery battery terminals However the power cable from the battery to the starter is in bad condition I ran a jumper cable from the positive battery post down To the starter and I can spend the starter but it doesn't engage and it still will not start .... Please advise Any help would be greatly appreciated
You calm manner and locating the primary culprit , was fascinating. I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 6cyl 4wd which sat idle and i had to replace a battery ( 4years old Battery). I found relays on driver side, they are similar to yours but different. I have light and a meter. I believe I might need some guidance. Cannot find booster fuel pump or it's switch. under car driver side. Inertia switch in foot well side has 2, 2 color wires going into the switch which has 3 points of contact. I tested the switch with ohm meter and got 0.0 on two contact side with wires. I am unable to get voltage on meter on two contact side. Inertia switch works when I bang the switch hard as I get what appears to be 0.1. I pushed switch down returned 0.0. I think I just need slight guidance or suggestions to follow this up. I would really like to fix this myself if I possibly can. Thank you!
I have a buddy with a beautiful 96' F150 5.0 super cab short bed 4x4 that's got over 220000 miles and it's a very reliable machine but it left it left him stranded a few months ago and it was that damn inertia switch... He was doing 80 with the cruise on and it just shut off and he had no idea... He said after just a few minutes of diagnosing the mechanic went right to that inertia switch and jumped it out and he was on his way...
Great video . I subscribed .I was looking for a video on why my 2000 Ranger acts like its flooded on hot days or an hour or so after i drove it last . I have to hold the foot feed to the floor and then it will start. It does not do this all the time though ....
1997 Mazda B-4000SE 4.0L V6 here ( same as a Ford Ranger XLT) - mine suddenly one morning after using all day before would NOT START, cranked like nuts, no "fire". What did I find? It was the F'ing Fuel Pump Inertia "collision" switch mounted on the passenger side inside the firewall. No truck impacts, no bumps, no anything that should have tripped that Inertia "collision" switch!! Fuel pump is fine! Beware Boys, ALWAYS ALWAYS check that damn Inertia "collision" switch FIRST on ANY Ranger or Mazda B-Series!! A kick of a foot, a package you have on the floor bumping it, could easily trip it! Push the button down to reset and GO!
were you able to get a new switch ? I have a 2003 ford focus 2.3 and I do not think that they make mine anymore so I pray that mine does not go bad . I also know that these were common on the ranger or from what I understand
Sorry, off topic. Can you tell me where the EGR vacuum line hooks to? Is there a vacuum regulator going to that? So my 86 Ford Ranger has never had a fuel problem or injector problem. Good troubleshooting techniques. I have the same 2.3L EFI engine.
Hi great video. Helped a lot but got stuck when testing jumped inertia switch with test light to positive terminal. No power. Any guidance on next steps? Thanks, Jeff N
Test light should be hooked to ground so you can test for power with the ignition on, the the light should glow if the circuit is completed to the fuel pump. If not, then time to diagnose the problem.
I hope you can help me out here. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 4x4 with a 6cyl. 4.0L engine. I learned from a different video a year ago that the accessory relay in the passenger kicker panel could be the problem. Cranking, but not starting. I replaced the relay and it fired right up. I replaced the relay again a week ago and it started right up and it isn't starting again. What can be causing the relay to keep going out? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Hey Ryan , so i asked if i detected Pennsylvania the other day and Delaware makes all the sence , firstly i am not tech savvy with where to write or ask questions! I apologize in advance, the reason for the veiw of this video i have an 83 full size bronco , not sure if original motor was 302? It now has a 92 351w, so ignition switch always been sketchy most of the time it stays engaged and i need to thumb it back when she goes off, the other day I left it running in the driveway to warm it up when I came out it had shut off and I could not get it started it cranks fine it does have an aftermarket fuel pump put smells really rich so I assume it's getting fuel however I have no spark it also has an HEI GM distributor I've tested most everything in the electrical circuit and now I'm at the steering column and thinking it could be that Barrel or the link that runs down the column I've never pulled one apart it might be that rod that's in there or just the barrel is shot I don't know any advice would be a help before I pull this thing apart if there's something else that I need to test my alternator is good battery is good selling out on the firewall is good I just no spark thanks in advance and if there's someplace I can write or donate I will just let me know how thanks in advance Johnny O
Great diagnosis there Glen! And Ryan sure was not happy there in the beginning with you LOL. And look at that big smile on his face at the end. Be safe on the highway Glen with your trip tomorrow. 😀👍
Bbq hello I have a 97 Ford F150 4.6 inertia switch has no power at either wire I have no fuel pump coming on checked all the fuses and relays are good what do you think
Mines an 85 and has no inertia switch. It was not starting ( no electrics at all,0 noise) tracked it down to the starter solenoid and now it cranks but won't start. There is great spark, I smell fuel . Will try splashing fuel in the carb in the am
This stuff is made to break. they been making cars for over a hundred years, why can't they build one that doesn't break, ?? Your video was very good, like talking to a 5 year old when you explained it, and that's what it takes
Does the Inertia switch stop fire to I am having somewhat the same trouble but I'm not getting any fire at all and no gas but I noticed today that some of my gauges are spinning backwards. Could that cause that we never had any trouble out of it until a friend helped me do the breaks and the park neutral safety switch is bad in this truck so while I was getting tools this person started the truck and it kicked into reverse and went up onto the hood of his car the truck started fine after. Any advice would be greatly appreciated I don't understand the things it is doing.
What do I check if control side - on positive battery connection. I don’t get the dim light...& when switched on, it doesn’t get brighter and on for two seconds. What do I check next? About to try and see what to check/do next!
My 2002 Ranger does this, but intermittently. I can be driving, go to the store, come back out and it won’t start. It cranks but won’t start. Give it some time or overnight and it’ll start. It seems random. I wonder if it could be that inertia switch.
I have a intermittent problem with the fuel this maybe the problem ...I will check it when my truck acts up again ... Thanks ... because I didn’t think they could go bad unless they were tripping ..
Hey I have a question. I have a 2003 Ford Lincoln. I bypassed the fuel pump and the fuel pump works. The inertia switch is good. The truck cranks but no start. When I put the key to on position, I get a temperature light on the dashboard. What could be causing my truck not to run? Thank you.
Hi I have a similar problem on my 90’ Ranger. I have power to my 30 amp fuse and power to the fuel relay. I don’t have any power to the inertia switch though. I tried bypassing it and still no power. Is there a fuseable link between the fuel relay and inertia switch? If so do you know where? Thankyou

Good luck!
@@ozzstars_cars
Looked at the one today, (inertia switch) the condition was proper trigger to OPEN and the reading was infinite impedance , then in closed position, the reading wanders all over the place in its impedance just like your did.
Great job checking everything and nailing it down.
Thanks Lloyd
Want to thank you so very much helped my husband find out what the problem was. Great video thanks for walking through it GOD bless
That awesome! Your welcome. -Glen
thank you very much I've been checking everything but cud not find a problem ..I'll go to this an replace this just to be sher .. I'm having the same exact problem as you are
Thanks for the video. I'm an electrician but not automotive. My problem is itermittant. I'm going to jump that inertia switch out first, see what she does. I have a 2002.
Let us know how it goes.
Super good example of basic trouble shooting for your kid. Good show!
Did you pay for the show at the door? Oh i forgot, you have VIP all access, nevermind. lol Get through Friday and have a good weekend man!
This was very helpful. Thanks for the knowledge. It turned out being the fuel pump.
Main pump or secondary pump? Glad the video was helpful.
@@ozzstars_cars main pump in the tank.
Well done Glenn and helper. Great DYI help.
Thanks, good thing Ryan was there to make sure I get it done right! haha Take it Easy
Thanks man my 88 just got stolen and it wouldn't start after I got it back I've narrowed it down to not getting fuel thanks for the rundown on what to check and where don't really know much about this truck
Glad you got your truck back!
it looked like the inertia switch was not secure when you first went to test it. I drive really bumpy roads so I will have to check that on mine today! I have an 88 and an 89 Ford ranger. the 88 is the one that's having a fuel problem and hasn't ran for 3 or 4 years, it's the one I'm working on today.
Good direction to start the diagnosis.
Gonna check my 84 Mercury cougar 2.3 xr7. Same symptoms..checked air, fuel and spark.. every things there..need to check the inertia switch..thanks for the info!!
Hopefully you find the problem soon. Let us know if you do.
What was the issue
Great video man super easy to understand you really help me understand how to test for continuity and excellent troubleshooting advice keep up the good work
Thank you for taking the time to video this! Info is just what I was looking for :-)
Excellent!
Glad the vid was helpful
REALLY GOOD VIDEO WITH A LOT INFORMATION CONGRATULATION. I LEARNED A LOT
Good to know Oscar, thanks for stopping by the channel and for your comment. -Glen
Did you check for any trouble codes to get direction? EEC?
I have a 2002 Ford F-150. I have replaced the battery battery terminals
However the power cable from the battery to the starter is in bad condition
I ran a jumper cable from the positive battery post down To the starter and I can spend the starter but it doesn't engage and it still will not start ....
Please advise
Any help would be greatly appreciated
BTW is had been staring prior to discovering the power cable is bad and now the eyelit is broke off
Plz help
Thank you!
For something like that I find a wiring diagram to be the best asset. It will help you a lot.
Those are great trucks and built well. So after 24 years things are bound to break! Glad he got it fixed.
1st thing battery voltage 2nd . check fuses ..3rd relays ,including the crash switch.. 4th.isolate components
Great video . I subscribed .I was looking for a video on why my 2000 Ranger acts like its flooded on hot days or an hour or so after i drove it last . I have to hold the foot feed to the floor and then it will start. It does not do this all the time though ....
Test the fuel injectors.
1997 Mazda B-4000SE 4.0L V6 here ( same as a Ford Ranger XLT) - mine
suddenly one morning after using all day before would NOT START, cranked
like nuts, no "fire". What did I find? It was the F'ing Fuel Pump
Inertia "collision" switch mounted on the passenger side inside the
firewall. No truck impacts, no bumps, no anything that should have
tripped that Inertia "collision" switch!! Fuel pump is fine! Beware
Boys, ALWAYS ALWAYS check that damn Inertia "collision" switch FIRST on
ANY Ranger or Mazda B-Series!! A kick of a foot, a package you have on
the floor bumping it, could easily trip it! Push the button down to
reset and GO!
Also leaking windshields or heavy moisture can cause internal corrosion or shorting.
were you able to get a new switch ? I have a 2003 ford focus 2.3 and I do not think that they make mine anymore so I pray that mine does not go bad . I also know that these were common on the ranger or from what I understand
Pretty much have to search online for old new stock, go used, or the ol' bypass.
I ended up cutting the two wires off my inertia switch and connecting them together in 2014. Havent had any fuel pump issues until now (late 2022)
That's one way to do it.
That is an interesting issue. Very rare issue, never heard of a relay constantly failing like that.
Mike's on the crapper so I have time to watch. (ha ha) Great diagnostics buddy, now get on the road!
Tell Mike to put the exhaust fan on HIGH. I'm headed out first thing tomorrow. I'll bring bail money! haha
Very informative. Great video on diagnosis of what I think will turn out to be my problem.
Good luck with the fix Donald.
Thks a lot! I learned a lot! You were very informative.
I appreciate your comment Patty. Glad the video was helpful! -Glen
If the ignition has a control module or igniter I would start there for no spark.
Great diagnosis there Glen! And Ryan sure was not happy there in the beginning with you LOL. And look at that big smile on his face at the end. Be safe on the highway Glen with your trip tomorrow. 😀👍
A happy ending for both of us and an ice cream reward doesn't hurt. :) Thanks for the roadtrip well wishes. Did you get the ABS module back in?
Ozzstar oh yeah the ice cream works wonders doesn't it? Yep Glen, the ABS module came in Monday and I'll be putting it on tomorrow. 😀👍
Awesome diagnosing skills.
Thanks man. Hopefully your Summer is going well Moe, haven't seen ya around much? Take care
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Your explanation are down to the ground.
Thanks for your comment! -Glen
Best way good job pops !! Teach them young
Thanks!
Bbq hello I have a 97 Ford F150 4.6 inertia switch has no power at either wire I have no fuel pump coming on checked all the fuses and relays are good what do you think
Grab yourself a wiring diagram and find out what's going on.
Great troubleshooting Oz. Great vid and some great help you got there.
The helper will be on the payroll for a while, he's good. Thanks for your comment!
what you think I should check on a 91 Ford ranger power to the fuel pump is spinning over but
Nicely detailed video! Gives me some places to start looking on mine. hope your helper enjoyed his ice cream. :-)
He did! Glad the vid was helpful to you. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment
very nice diagnosis. thanks!
You're welcome Brian and thanks for your comment!
Mines an 85 and has no inertia switch. It was not starting ( no electrics at all,0 noise) tracked it down to the starter solenoid and now it cranks but won't start. There is great spark, I smell fuel . Will try splashing fuel in the carb in the am
is this the same on a 91 ford ranger 2.3 2wd?
Great job on the fuel problem
Thanks John
Thanks for all the info. Now to work on my ford ranger lol.
This stuff is made to break. they been making cars for over a hundred years, why can't they build one that doesn't break, ?? Your video was very good, like talking to a 5 year old when you explained it, and that's what it takes
30 years for a machine is not bad. Nothing lasts forever. Thanks for your comment!
Wish I could help you but diagnosing a problem like that is almost impossible to do online.
So will it start just with the bypass wire in the inertia holes?
I think you know the answer. Bypass being the key word. 😉
Excellent video! You earned a new sub
Appreciate that!
What do I check if control side - on positive battery connection. I don’t get the dim light...& when switched on, it doesn’t get brighter and on for two seconds.
What do I check next?
About to try and see what to check/do next!
Is the EEC getting powered up? Did you test that relay?
@@ozzstars_cars relay was bad, replaced no luck. Ordered my fuel pumps
But when I test the harness where eec eway goes I only get one light on when I’m connected to positive battery and ignition is switched to on
Good find Glen!
Thanks Eric. I tried my best at panhandling today and it looks like I'll have enough gas money to make it up your way. See ya soon!
great video i woulda never knew to check something like that thanks i just learned something new.
That's what it's all about Fred! Thanks for stopping by. -Glen
Ozzstar 👍
I have a 89 ranger 2.3 with these symptom ...any help will be appreciated
Excellent video! Thank you 🙏🏽
Sure thing Eric!
Great video mate grapevines top work
Serious guy you need to be serious on a job like this top man
You sure do! Thanks and take care
Best mechanics ever! thanks a lot for sharing this
Thank you.
My 2002 Ranger does this, but intermittently. I can be driving, go to the store, come back out and it won’t start. It cranks but won’t start. Give it some time or overnight and it’ll start. It seems random. I wonder if it could be that inertia switch.
Check for codes. Crank signal or fuel pump/pressure issues.
I thank you for resolving my issue
You're welcome. That's good news Frank!
I have a intermittent problem with the fuel this maybe the problem ...I will check it when my truck acts up again ... Thanks ... because I didn’t think they could go bad unless they were tripping ..
Let us know what you find out.
Hey I have a question. I have a 2003 Ford Lincoln. I bypassed the fuel pump and the fuel pump works. The inertia switch is good. The truck cranks but no start. When I put the key to on position, I get a temperature light on the dashboard. What could be causing my truck not to run? Thank you.
It's impossible to diagnose something like that over the internet. Only Scotty the hack can tell you. lol
thanks for the help guys
Hi I have a similar problem on my 90’ Ranger. I have power to my 30 amp fuse and power to the fuel relay. I don’t have any power to the inertia switch though. I tried bypassing it and still no power. Is there a fuseable link between the fuel relay and inertia switch? If so do you know where? Thankyou
What you need to consider is are you missing a bad ground? Study the wiring diagram in the video which may be helpful.
Great troubleshooting!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
