Finally! An intelligent video about COLOR with style and a reminder that black can really age you if you are over 40! I learned this the hard way when I finally had my colours done. I’m a spring and now I know to avoid black and gray near my face and which colors play up my blonde/fair/blue eyed low contrast look. I get more compliments now!!
Even when young I wore a scarf around me if I was wearing black-it was too harsh for my face. I think the problem came when the scarf is not as popular as before so more people were just wearing black and nothing else.
That's why I don't subscribed to this all "one color " events. A friend had a party and requested guests wore all black. I told her noway will I wear all black. It doesn't look good on me. I showed up in my color of choice and thought I was at a funeral. It was a room filled with people of color wearing black sitting in a dark room. I felt sad.
Thank you for the tip about putting blue with the vibrant colors of the main color design. I thought that was paramount especially when I have a red coat similar to that and to see the white T-shirt with the blue jeans I was already thinking wow look how great that looks.
I think the black outfit itself wouldn’t be so terrible on you, but the fact, that your jacket is extremely oversized and not properly fitted is a huge problem. It would be the same issue with any color though. Including the beige jacket . Fit is just as important as color, if not more. Some people think oversized garments can solve all their problems. I agree completely about ovesized clothes. It doesn't look flattering on anyone. It makes everybody shapeless, and no oversized piece can look elegant. If people think they hide their weight or imperfections wearing oversized unfitted clothes they look worse, the only fool themselves and keep putting on weight since they have no size or limit to tell them when it is enough. Thin people also look bad in ovesized clothes, they resemble hangers with clothes, they have no bodies, just clothes walking around without a person. And all those loose trousers, too long, how can anyone imagine it is nice. These days stylist are not familiar with good, style rules that are ever relevant. Omg, those too long trousers with sneakers, it looks like clowns in circuses. This stylist is a small thin woman, doesn't look feminine in all that overszed clothes. Maybe she just likes to look like that. She is sweet and lovely, but she thinks she knows everything. Anyway she is lovely and has good intentions. I guess many women have good sense of what suits them well and have better sense of style than many professional stylists.
Agree! Folding up the too-long, lined sleeve hems at 3:08 really detracts from the beautiful coat and the look overall. If you're going to all the trouble of finding the best color, get garments altered to fit properly!
Also the sneakers look terrible with the outfit, I mean she is fashion coach and this is her coice? Sneakers are only for exercise, you will never look elegant with those.

Excellent video! I've been combining dark colours and never knew why the outfits didn't spark joy. Also, I never knew why red and black or even black and white don't suit me. You've just explained it beautifully. Looking forward to more videos from you. Tks!
So glad I found your channel! Excellent advice about color. I am going to try and eliminate my black and replace it with more navy. It is difficult for me to admit, but you are correct about black when we get older. You are absolutely right about all of the color advice!! Keep more of these videos coming.
Regarding wearing high contrast outfits like black and white...I am in my 60s, cool toned, have light skin, light eyes, and dark salt and pepper hair (mostly pepper). Since I myself am high contrast I thought I would look good in high contrast outfits. How about black by my face? My main neutral is navy and that looks much softer but I still love wearing black. Maybe black looks harsh on you because you are light all around.
I was advised by a stylist friend that black and white is fine (I personally love b&w, it’s a classic pairing) however if wearing black on top to make sure there is some skin showing near the face I.e décolleté/slightly lower round neck. That way the black is not dulling the face skin directly.
Thank you so much for this video - I really needed it! If at all possible, please can you do one specially for those of us with various shades of gray hair? I find that the colors I used to wear are too strong for me now, but I am also much more limited in my choice of light colors and neutrals. Off-whites and beiges make me look unhealthy, pastels make me look washed out, and bright colors overwhelm me. It really hard finding the right balance.
I agree with this, I'm 47 years old and I grew my grey hair, grey and white. Didn't have much choice, it was so hard to keep colouring it. So now I am so confused, whatever worked for me with my natural hair, doesn't look good on me anymore, very frustrating 😢
That was 50 years ago. Most women soften in coloration after 50 years. In fact, even Color Me Beautiful edited their color palettes since the first book was published. They divided each season into three sub-sections, so Winter became Cool Winter, Deep Winter, and Bright Winter. Some Winters soften out of Winter altogether into one of the Summer palettes (Cool, Soft, or True).
Excellent video. Great examples of how colors look on individuals. I agree, I look so drab in all black outfit. I am 71 yrs young and look better in the jewel tones. Thank you for the great information
Diana GOSS I do believe choosing colours correctly has a lot to do with your skin tones more than age/ aging. But, styles has a lot more to do with someone's age. I do appreciate your analytical skills in helping us older women. Thank you😊
You are spot on about black becoming harder to wear as I age! If my hair is dyed just a shade too dark, my entire face looks frawn and harsh. Same wit black clothing. I find dark brown, grey, or navy work so much better. You are so right about the red /black combo. Able to easily carty it off in my 30s, years ago, now I feel old in it! I love it with jeans and it feels fresh! I didn't know why until your video!
You should choose a hair color that suits YOU. If that’s blonde, then do it. I’ve never met anyone with drab gray hair that loves it. If people tell you anything different, so what? Offer to pay for someone to make THEIR hair the color you have
When I wear my short gray hair. I feel and look older .. when I wear my longer blonde wigs I look and feel better about myself and truly am treated differently on general.. sad but true ... 👍
Thank you for a lovely video. Like so many who have commented already, I have silver/white (with a smattering of dark brown) hair and dark eyebrows with warm/olive skin. I have tried to wear beige and white, which look so beautiful on you, but look completely washed out and drab in them. Black and bold jewel tones look much better close to my face even if they aren't as kind to the skin flaws. I look forward to the color swatch you send to see if it confirms my own experience.
Wearing all black with a red lip, simple makeup, you could pull it off! Black is my signature color , I work it with a red lip, plus I have silver & grey hair. Works for me! ❤
I agree that black suits a few of us. I’m mature, but have little gray in my very dark natural hair, and with my cool, pale, high contrast skin tone, I feel my best in black.
I just went to my natural gray/ white hair and realized the colors I wore with my tinted auburn hair, does make me look awful. This clarifies what I need to do now. Thank you so much.
Beautiful sophisticated exmples of style! First time here. Would love to see you and another model of mature age with dark features to demonstrate both warm & cool.
Thanks for the video. However, I actually think the dark green sweater and black/gray pants looks significantly chic-er and younger than the oversized light jacket which is giving me Golden Girl vibes. ❤
Your before/after examples and suggestions to adjust are so helpful. This approach provides suggestions that will allow me to continue to wear my favorite colors (like black) but adjust for my age without looking matronly. Thank you!
Lovely Outfits! Thank u for the tips! When my 2 sissy s and I go shopping these tips will certainly help! You are a chic and beautiful girl! You look great in everything u wear!
Gray hair advice and tips is sadly under-represented here on YT. We need more creative gray haired woman. They would be ideally suited to advise since this sweet lady looks not even 50 yet.
I'm so happy to find your channel! Such wonderful advice for those of us moving on to a new season of life. I have tended to use black as a default color so often but then was not satisfied with the results. The styles and cuts were classic yet I felt washed out. Now I'm going invest in more navy blue. I will now look at my wardrobe in a completely different light. A few years ago I made the decision to continue to color my graying hair primarily because I absolutely hated the way it drowned out my color. After working with my colorist we landed on a light brunette with golden highlights which makes my face glow. It's funny because it is now the color it naturally was when I was 16. I love it. These details make a huge difference on my overall well being.
Another great video. I figured out some of these things on my own, but didn’t know the reason for it. I love that you provide detailed explanations for your tips
Thank you for this video. There are several YT videos about colors, how to use them, dark and light shades...etc. I noticed seldom anyone mentions scarves. I often prefer to wear monochrome colors, because I am only 5,5 and a half feet tall and so I can try to look taller. I also happen to like darker colors and in order to bring lighter shades to my face I often wear a scarf in a matching shade, but a lot lighter. Sometimes even very colorful scarves. If not, at least I then have pieces of jewelry. I love square silk scarves, - never those very thick or long ones, because they give me the feeling as if I would have a blanket around my throat. Even those small, square " kitten scarves " bring more life into the outfit. Those are the smaller ones that can be tied around the neck and made into a small bow. Regards from northern Europe.
Hi, Diana! Thank you for the pocket colors - somehow I received the colors that I never wear as they 100% "kill" me LOL like muddy orange and purple... It would be a nice tool for someone who manages to get their true colors correctly, as on the complexion color I did not notice a yellow undertone available to pick... Good luck to all!
I think you'd look great in just about anything but I do see how choosing the right colors could help me. I discovered by chance how much better navy looks on me than black, probably for the reasons you mentioned. It brightens up my complexion. I used to avoid it thinking that it was too hard to coordinate navy with other colors, big mistake.
Maybe part of the reason you look so much 'older' in the colours you don't suggest is because you have your arms crossed, you're frowning, and you look overall grumpy. No one looks good when they look angry or pissed off.
It is good content, but no matter what I have on if I don't exude a pleasant look, good posture and a smile, no one is going to notice what I have on. They will only remember my attitude.
Terrific info! Would you address eyebrow issues, i.e. sparse brows and what colour to use? My hair is white and my brows have a dark brown with red shade. I don't want the brows to walk into a room before I do. Lol. Thanks!
It's awesome how knowledgeable you are about this. I love your outfit in the video, the sleeveless turtleneck is a beautiful, elegant, and classy look and it looks amazing on you.
You appeared on my "new to you" tag. Great informative video. I have subscribed! As a Christmas present, I was given a personal colour analysis course. I am Spring bright. I done your self colour analysis and you were spot on with the colour recommendations!
I've seen fashion influencers on YT wear all-black and I want to accomplish that look! I think if worn correctly it looks so chic and stylish, but still working on that now. Building a black wardrobe as we speak. 🖤🖤🖤 Can you give us more tips on how to wear all-black?
How easily you can wear all-black (especially from chin to toe and wrist ie a winter look) depends entirely if you have natural High Contrast in your colouring, exactly as Diana says. She mentions that usually such people's natural hair colour is black, or close to it. Most people with High Contrast have been wearing all-black all their lives; black is usually their signature go-to colour, as black anything always looks flattering on them, and their wardrobe has lots of black. Im guessing, as you haven't had a wardrobe filled with black clothes to date, that you may not be High Contrast. So just in case you are Medium or Low Contrast, here are some tips for how to tweak all-black to look more natural on you. a) It is easier to pull off all-black at night, when your contrast level is less obvious than in daylight. b) Do not wear all-black with no makeup. Wear High-Contrast make-up, avoid "natural look" make-up, and emphasise colour more. c) Metallic jewellery (sunnies, earrings, bracelets, rings, buckles etc) will inject Medium Contrast elements. d) Many Low/Medium Contrast people can readily pull off black in hot weather ( e.g a black sleeveless sundress or swimming costume) as, depending on your skin colour, the large amount of skin showing may inject a more Medium Contrast colour into the look (however, defined makeup is still required). Strappy tops or strapless evening wear can work fine too if they position the black further away from the face. e) On medium or light-coloured skin, a black mesh top can appear as a lighter form of black i.e. more Medium Contrast f) charcoal is also more Medium Contrast than true black. g) beware deep blacks, i.e. non-reflective "black hole" fabrics, like velvet or crepe, as they absorb the most light; these are the Highest Contrast blacks of all. Also, very high-shine accessories, such as black patent leather, and highly polished black resin and metallic jewellery and trims, read as High Contrast, so be careful with these. h) Look for black that has some texture, and a slight reflectiveness (e.g. the black leather in biker jackets, shoes and handbags has a faintly blue sheen) as it generates a more Medium Contrast effect.(i.e. it looks lighter) A black raffia sunhat is also Medium Contrast because its nubbly surface also reflects light. And so is black evening fabric, when it has a tiny silver or gold sparkle woven throughout it . Hope these tips help :) enjoy your black wardrobe!
Break up the effect of black near your face by adding a contrasting scarf around your neckline. An interesting printed scarf can add so much to your outfit and also light up your face. Red or pink lipstick also helps!
Maybe something is wrong with my vision, but I thought you looked great in all the outfits you put an "X" over. I don't see how they make you look older or more drab. I want to see the difference, but if I am being honest, I don't see that one style looks more "aging" than the other styles. 😮
Wow! Just found you! Even your ‚boring‘ outfits look gorgeous…. but I just learned so much from this videos! Thank you from Germany, and now I will look into my inbox, did. the color-analysis and am looking forward to the suggestions….

love this video. I have come to the very same conclusions over the years for my coloring , and especially noted that combos I felt I could pull off in my younger years just drained me now. I definitely found the white T shirt look with almost anything, under sweaters , jackets has been my staple for many years! And also no longer enjoy wearing black for same reasons. Too bad in plus size shops it seams everything is black!!! or Red. yuck
Great presentation. Have been working on these changes. I also sometjmes use a scarf or hat. I love these accessories. The right scarf around my neck, or the right hat can make me look younger by reflecting light on my face. I have seen miracles happen. Ha ha
Learned so much. You r a amazing stylist. I am a FIT graduate worked in garment ctr. Color is so important. I c women try to be so trendy keeping it classic good quality a must. Funny story my friend only wears Grey, taupe and black. When shopping I suggest she step up to deep Hugh colors in primary. She has dark brn hair, olive tone?
I am a natural brunette with very fair skin..I color my hair in red tones and it literally warms my skin tone. Color tone really does make a difference.
IMO that teal turtle neck top looked great on you - thanks for the video! Some years ago a local advisor did my color palette & I still have the packet she made for me although I don't refer to it any more - somehow my entire wardrobe is made up of those suitable colors.
Yesterday I wore black leather pants with an orange belt and red buckled ankle boots. On top, a light blue polo neck and a leopard print velvet biker. This colour combination is less predictable than some others, but it really worked. PS I am 69
Hi Diana! Will you tell us where you bought the blue sleeveless turtleneck you're wearing? I don't see it in the links. Thank you! I get the feeling your personality is as beautiful as you are!
Everyone looks good in blue, the most flattering color. Green-light green, is youthful, so is peachy lipstick. Pearls soften older women’s appearance. Use a strawberry pink lipstick, or wine instead of bright red lipstick that looks more natural. Brownish lipsticks make teeth look whiter over fuchsia and red lipsticks. I agree with not wearing black unless your younger, browns, navy, teal moroon and wines are softer. Dye hair next to scalp one shade darker than highlights for a natural look. Try to find natural blond shades like ash blond. Some light reds look good, (and like light green clothing) adds vitality to your look.
I've observed that a lot of older women not make the mistake in dying their hair too dark, but too bright or intense. Solid black hair looks awful on older women, but so do bright/intense reds and bright blonde. Just to say for anyone reading this.
I always love the picture examples but I think we need to replace the word OLDER with just UNHEALTHY. Quite frankly older is inevitable but unhealthy is what dull skin, thin skin, sagging skin and loss of brightness is about. Older is not a sin and we need to change the ideals we’ve come to accept about it because it makes it seem like the older we get the less beauty we will radiate and that’s just NOT True. 💓💐🌻
As you say older is inevitable and no sin. I am older than I was , my skin tone is uneven due to past sun damage, nothing I can do about that now . However I look after my skin very well now and it is very healthy, plump , and not dull, minimal wrinkling ,certainly not unhealthy. So as an older person I am fine with being called older,I need to know how to make what I have the best it can look. I object a lot to being called unhealthy, certainly my skin is not unhealthy other than the unevenness of sun damage from when it was not known how dangerous it was. Equating unhealthy with older is a very damaging thought, older is natural, unhealthy is not an inevitable consequence of being older.
I choose to grow out my natural grey hair , but now I am not sure about how to dress up properly , need to redefine my style once again. Not easy but it's worth the journey. Any tips? ❤
I have yellow undertones-- so I must avoid beige, cream, pale yellows and pure white! I opt instead for golden to mustard yellows, Ivory to eggshell whites, taupes and camels!😃
It sounds like you're an Autumn. I have a yellow undertone, too, but it's slight. I'm a Bright Spring; light yellow is one of my best colors and mustard is one of my worst.
Love your video! Excellent examples! I am by far no professional but some of your outfits seem way to baggy and to me you get lost in them. The fitted outfits look so much nicer on your petite figure.
Watching from japan , I love the way you coordinate clothes And I’m learning the good colors that is fit on me , I’m a bit brownish in color , so it think I’m warm in color ?
Well bright colors always make you look younger, but the colors need to be compatible with your skin coloring. I'm attracted to neutrals and dark colors, can't wear red because it's too loud.

Neither do i they add volume and makes one looks bulkier

Regarding wearing high contrast outfits like black and white...I am in my 60s, cool toned, have light skin, light eyes, and dark salt and pepper hair (mostly pepper). Since I myself am high contrast I thought I would look good in high contrast outfits. How about black by my face? My main neutral is navy and that looks much softer but I still love wearing black. Maybe black looks harsh on you because you are light all around.
Same here.
I have the same problem. Muted or heathered colors seem to work for me.
I find that a very pale pink adds color to my skin. I have to watch and not get a gray pink.
@@franceslock2058 thank you

Black is great. In me. I had a color test back in the 70’s, I am a “Winter”, so I am very aware of what’s better for me.
Hi Julie, how's your day going with you?
What if your hair is grey? I’m debating going back to blonde as I’m finding the grey hair brings me down and has totally changed my look in general 🦋
Your best clothing and makeup colors have probably changed. Have you tried different colors than you used to wear?
You always look very chic, I love all the info you share with us.
Sounds great!
Me too black looks good on me my favorite color ❤ it
I just went to my natural gray/ white hair and realized the colors I wore with my tinted auburn hair, does make me look awful. This clarifies what I need to do now. Thank you so much.
I hear you. I'm going gray from my natural golden brown, so in a few years, the warm brown and rust colors that I love won't work.
Beautiful sophisticated exmples of style! First time here. Would love to see you and another model of mature age with dark features to demonstrate both warm & cool.
This content is very well put together 😃
Thanks for the video. However, I actually think the dark green sweater and black/gray pants looks significantly chic-er and younger than the oversized light jacket which is giving me Golden Girl vibes. ❤
Hi Victoria, how's your day going with you?
I have always loved white, I think it looks beautiful clean and crisp
Your before/after examples and suggestions to adjust are so helpful. This approach provides suggestions that will allow me to continue to wear my favorite colors (like black) but adjust for my age without looking matronly. Thank you!
You are a god send. You have helped me so much. I’ve never been good with outfits. Brain defect. Thank you
Lovely Outfits! Thank u for the tips! When my 2 sissy s and I go shopping these tips will certainly help! You are a chic and beautiful girl! You look great in everything u wear!
Could you do a video on styling with grey hair please.
I second that, I have silver hair, cool skin color and need help deciding what looks good on me, thx
Gray hair advice and tips is sadly under-represented here on YT. We need more creative gray haired woman. They would be ideally suited to advise since this sweet lady looks not even 50 yet.
Silver Fox style! Yes!
Regards from
northern Europe.
Thank you for sharing! 🙌
Not to mention, you have to sign up for spam in order to receive your pocket colors. I declined.
Enjoyed your video. Some great tips. THANKS!
Diana, your channel is just what I've been looking for. Subscribed. ☑
Awesome! Thank you!😀
I think you'd look great in just about anything but I do see how choosing the right colors could help me.
I am very thankyou for Diane's work and time spent. 😘
It is good content, but no matter what I have on if I don't exude a pleasant look, good posture and a smile, no one is going to notice what I have on. They will only remember my attitude.
@@kathystclair9485 got it. 🕊
Thank you. You appear to be catered for yourself only. No suggestions given for asian skin tones
Good points. The positive examples are nice outfits, but the jackets & coats are way too oversized and shapeless.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday. Love all your videos ❤️
Terrific info! Would you address eyebrow issues, i.e. sparse brows and what colour to use? My hair is white and my brows have a dark brown with red shade. I don't want the brows to walk into a room before I do. Lol. Thanks!
You could have your eyebrows tinted a lighter shade at a salon.
It's awesome how knowledgeable you are about this. I love your outfit in the video, the sleeveless turtleneck is a beautiful, elegant, and classy look and it looks amazing on you.
Thank you! ☺️
Strappy tops or strapless evening wear can work fine too if they position the black further away from the face.
e) On medium or light-coloured skin, a black mesh top can appear as a lighter form of black i.e. more Medium Contrast
f) charcoal is also more Medium Contrast than true black.
g) beware deep blacks, i.e. non-reflective "black hole" fabrics, like velvet or crepe, as they absorb the most light; these are the Highest Contrast blacks of all.
Can you make same video for women of colour? Thank you
Thanks so much for all your assistance and information, I love watching your videos 🎀🌷
Maybe something is wrong with my vision, but I thought you looked great in all the outfits you put an "X" over. I don't see how they make you look older or more drab. I want to see the difference, but if I am being honest, I don't see that one style looks more "aging" than the other styles. 😮
Diana, thank you for this video! Kindly advise what size of red Mango coat you wear in this video?
I just love your hairstyle!
Wow! Just found you! Even your ‚boring‘ outfits look gorgeous…. but I just learned so much from this videos! Thank you from Germany, and now I will look into my inbox, did. the color-analysis and am looking forward to the suggestions….
Thank you for doing our Quiz:) Please look at Promo & Spam folder if you don't find the letter with Your Pocket Palette. And please contact us if there is any technical issue, Diana gives e-mail in the comment under the link.
Feedback! Great analysis for me, love all the suggested colors and know they suit me, thank you for giving me confidence to go for them!
Love the oversize clothes you're wearing in some of these vids - looks very modern with a fab eighties vibe...
Excellent content. Thank you!
I agree. Her content is so well thought out and delivered.
I am a new subscriber, very happy to find your channel. It would be great to have more outlooks with variety of dresses, with shoes, with boots with snickers etc.
Hi Helena, how's your day going with you?
love this video. Too bad in plus size shops it seams everything is black!!! or Red. yuck
Hi Andrea, how's your day going with you?
Great presentation. Have been working on these changes. I also sometjmes use a scarf or hat. I love these accessories. The right scarf around my neck, or the right hat can make me look younger by reflecting light on my face. I have seen miracles happen. Ha ha
I like the big jackets!! I’m quite thin( medically) and fills me out. !
Could you please share the brand of the baby blue turtle neck ? Thank you
Very interesting video. I’m a tall woman and I find if I wear light colours, I look like a beast!!. I have a wide top half.
IMO that teal turtle neck top looked great on you - thanks for the video! Some years ago a local advisor did my color palette & I still have the packet she made for me although I don't refer to it any more - somehow my entire wardrobe is made up of those suitable colors.
Where did you get the gorgeous silver shoes? Love them! Didn't find a link?
Could you please make a video about how to match prints elegantly ( etnic, leopard, zebra) ?
Thanks a lot.
I found this video to be very helpful. Thank you for all of your words of advice.
Thank you - wonderful and easy to understand advice!
Yesterday I wore black leather pants with an orange belt and red buckled ankle boots. On top, a light blue polo neck and a leopard print velvet biker. This colour combination is less predictable than some others, but it really worked. PS I am 69
Wow what a u tube find.... thankyou
Hi Diana! Will you tell us where you bought the blue sleeveless turtleneck you're wearing? I don't see it in the links. Thank you! I get the feeling your personality is as beautiful as you are!
Thank you lady. .. very informative...❤from Sri Lanka
What about those of us who have our natural silver hair?
Excellent. Thank you for the great information and insights.
What a great video! Thank you very much!
What about dark chocolate brown corduroy jacket? How can i style it with? What tshirt and pants color matches it?
Thank you for this lesson!
Unhealthy is not good either maybe mature. Plenty of mature people don't have those qualities
Perhaps “drab” is a good option ?
Skin sags when you're older, nothing except surgery can take that away
Very true as some colours can make you look tired and dull no matter what age you are.
Great tips for modern aging women thank you.
Every tip is just greatThsnk you!!
Love your channel - love from Sydney Australia
Love your video! Excellent examples! I am by far no professional but some of your outfits seem way to baggy and to me you get lost in them. The fitted outfits look so much nicer on your petite figure.
Yes we are beautiful at ever age.. I call it staying fresh.
This was very helpful and I enjoyed it.
Thank you! I am glad to hear that!
Thank you Diana ❤️
Watching from japan , I love the way you coordinate clothes And I’m learning the good colors that is fit on me , I’m a bit brownish in color , so it think I’m warm in color ?

Fanatastic visuals! May I ask which film software you are using to create your beautiful videos?
Unique tips. Btw, some young women can go darker in hair color, but yes, for sure, not older women💕
Love the sweater in the first look. Where is it from?
Thank you so much Diana.
I'm not going to change my hair color! It's now white and I get lots of compliments on it. I am open to suggestions on clothing though.
Wow love your style❤❤❤
Good vídeo, beautiful accent!
Well bright colors always make you look younger, but the colors need to be compatible with your skin coloring. I'm attracted to neutrals and dark colors, can't wear red because it's too loud.
