Congrats on the 2k subs mate! :) I think New Balance make great running shoes mate. Best of luck on your races. Start slow and finish strong!
Thanks phil! I really like the shoes to be fair 👍🏼
I imagine a big portion of people going for a gait analysis are doing so after a problem occurs, not before, so don't be hard on yourself mate. I've never had mine done yet.
I've got a half marathon in 29th Oct, but again my calves have gone super tight just before a race. Getting a massage tomorrow 🤞
Good luck with the race(s) 👍🏻
That’s a good point Mark. I should have went in when they said I have flat feet but I had no reason to go in without injuries.
I see you’ve been having trouble with the tight calves and hopefully a deep massage will sort you out for the end of the month. All the best, I’ll keep a look out 👍🏼
I had this and daily single leg calf raises was the answer for me.
Hi. Ive been doing the same but can only just get to 20, maybe I’ve still got weakness there but it’s definitely fading now. Cheers for the tip
I can't help but think it's not necessarily the shoes, but you not wearing your orthoses. I wouldn't be surprised if most of your other shoes are all neutral ... so in fact, all you needed to have been doing was putting the orthoses in. Remember to take out any insoles that are in the shoe - whether daytime, work or running shoe.
Hi John, you may well be right. I’ve only got 3 pairs to get rid of currently, after looking last night. The support shoes I bought may not have been that helpful. Is it worth getting a custom pair or orthosis I wonder if it’s a permanent thing? I told the doc I take the orthosis in and out to not become reliant on them as I do the exercises to strengthen my feet, but he said I’ve got collapsed arches, the right worst than the left so I am reliant on them already. Hopefully the exercises have stopped me pronating so much, hence the neutral gait but I still need the extra support to keep it at bay. I’ve got random insoles in my shoe cupboard haha, so yes I do take them out to fit the orthosis in. Cheers mate
