Tracii didn't say anything negative at all, he was very complimentary here. He was talking about Nikki back in the very early 80's, trying to make it.
I've spoken to Tracii and he's a really nice guy. He's actually invited my wife and I to go down to his place in L.A. to hang out for a bit. I have nothing but respect for him.
@@Powermad-bu4em he seems like it. In 2018 I saw LA Guns two nights in a row to where I was right at the front of the stage and he high fived me both times. Plus he was out front signing autographs the second time and he came off as really humble.
I wouldn't say he's nice. I saw LA Guns a few years ago play to maybe 100 people and politely asked Tracii for a pic. He kept walking. This isn't the 80's anymore.

My wife talks to him all the time when he comes into her restaurant. She's called me and put him on the phone a couple of times and he was just cooler than shit. I didn't fanboy. Just yacked at him like a normal guy. That's how I always approach celebrities. Did the same with Phil Anselmo. Just dudes bullshitting.

Man your looking through the 80s with rose tinted glasses starting to get a bit annoying because for most people it wasn't great. Also the policy that where put in place in the 80s is what has lead to the utter shit fight the world is in now but you know ignore that. Like having the start of the big labels fck music because Reagan and co started cutting the regulations around monopolies but you know ignore that and the plither of other shit he did that lead us to the shit fight the worlds in.

Tracii sounds like a genuinely good dude- skipping the trash talk and just saying it like he sees it.
He's not really that way if you knew him. He screwed a lot of people over through the years including myself. I wasn't paid what was owed and instead he tried just giving me old gear that wasn't worth shit. I believe he tried that with that female singer he had as well. Good player, sure, but quite petty and disingenuous.
Tracii is quite mercurial and can be a real asshole at times.

I was in a band called Soulrider. We cut an album and played the first Rocklahoma. I got to play on stage with Traci. He was one of the coolest guys I ever met!

The first two albums from Motley Crue are great! Once they started getting more glam I was done and on the thrash/death metal path. I still love the first two and some stuff on Theater of Pain.

Listen to Hollywood Vampires ( by LA GUNS ) and it was fantastic. Really good.
So wasnt Cocked and Loaded and the self titled album. They were a good rock band. The singer, Phil Lewis. I THINK he came from being in a British band called GIRL, that also has Phil Collin from Def Leppard. Small world.

Tracii, you are the man. I rolled through Iraq with you on my shoulder in 2003 and had to do some business with the US Army, but I got home with all my fingers and toes and my guitar.
I will say this. I was at Venice Beach years back. I heard a band playing Hendrix. I heard the 🎸 player go into a solo. I was like DAM that is way above an average player. And I recognized his guitar and knew it was Traci. He then complemented Jimi after the song was over.
I've always liked his interviews. He offers up a lot of specifics, unlike many, who state vague accusations, or unvalidated points.

Sixx wanted to be a star. So he changed his name, learned an instrument, started a band , wrote songs, paid his dues in the clubs , recorded albums and became rich and famous. Now he's playing in stadiums. That's admirable no matter if you like Motley Crue or not. The American dream personified. That is a his life

...and consider he's a very mediocre bass player, honestly. At times I have the impression (during concerts) he is not really playing at all but just faking.

My biggest gripe with Nikki is that he won't release more of the pro shot concert video from the God knows how many tours. Each tour is different and each concert within the same tour is different from another. Motley Crue have so much excellent live video that people either want to see to relive a concert they went to or see a concert they never went to for whatever reasons. It would be nice too if his Schecter model bass would come with the "Opti Grab" like his does and his Gibson Thunderbird bass had.
I’m pretty sure Tracii is the reason why GnR is called GnR, he was a founding member there and didn’t stay long because I believe Axl and him had a falling out over something - though I don’t exactly remember what. I’m almost certain this is the same guy, so is it or am I wrong?

Yeah, it's a long story, but Tracii was there from the absolute evolution of GnR and LA Guns whose debut album is raw, not overly produced, and very much emblematic of the mid to late 80s of the Sunset Strip......
GnR is an amalgamation of two bands.
Axl was the lead singer for a band called Hollywood Roses and Traci was LA Guns. When the two parted ways, some Guns and some Roses got together and formed GNR.

Yeah but the two bands merged and Tracii was a founding member of GNR. Slash replaced him before GNR made Appetite though. The very first line up of Guns n Roses was Axl Rose, Tracii Guns, Izzy Stradlin, Ole Beich and Rob Gardner.
He can say Mötley Crüe is the best Glam/drag band all he wants. Cinderella is the best! Their bluesy sound and Tom Kiefer's voice set them apart from the rest.

Agreed, it wasn’t simply Carl Thomas Keifer’s voice alone that set them apart from many of their contemporaries, it was also his blue-inspired riffage, and song-writing chops. To me none of the other bands had such a heavy blues influence, sure you had the funk come in later with Bulletboys and I suppose a little more blues with Junkyard… but for a couple a years you were hard pressed to find a more bluesy outfit, Great White are a close second to Cinderella in terms of sound… to me, at least…. A least before Jack and them went their separate ways.

Both Nikki and Tracii are pain in the arse. I've dealt with both at separate times about 15 years ago. Musically they are great with what they do but as human beings, both can be very narcissistic.

Too Fast For Love is in my opinion, one of the greatest REAL ROCK albums of all time! Very raw and energetic and you can taste their hunger on it. Livewire is still such a kick-ass song!
That's funny that Tracii says he ripped off Take Me To The Top on One More Reason. I had played Take Me To The Top many years ago in a band and recently had to learn One More Reason to do some fill in shows with a band and I thought the same thing when I learned it lol

it's pronounced, "drive" or ambition... you either have it or you don't.. the 'why' it's there is more or less the same from successful person to successful person. (over coming a poor childhood usually) it's not exclusively the person's talent level that makes them a success.. it's not giving up that the separates most people from the very successful .. Frank aka Nikki Sixx is a remarkable example of this.
Tracii seems to take the "high road" when commenting most of the time, but there seems to be a lot of stuff from multiple musicians about how he rips people off. Sounds like where there's smoke, there might be some fire.

Nikki was never broke. Even after the 94 tour debacle with Corabi, he had millions. He was always good with his money unlike Mars and Neil. Tracii was broke , flat broke when he joined Brides. Leaving LA Guns was a mistake. He could have made a living like Phil did . The only reason he is touring with LAG is he needs the cash. Phil should never have taken him back. Stacey and Michael should still be in LAG.

I think Tracii is a really underrated player and great but today you can find 700 guitarists on youtube and Instagram that are at his level! I'll tell ya, today there is one band that has been kicking the shit out of all those 80s bands and that's Poison! I was always of the thought they were a whimpy 80s rip off band but here's the thing. Today they are the most appreciative and making the most of the Stadium Tour slot that their blowing all of them off the stage! C.C. has been unbelievable and they come out every night except in Nashville and work their asses off for the hour they get! Bobby Dall has more energy than Sixx. Ricky is playing just as good as Tommy. I love Mick he's just a down to Earth guy. C.C. is probably playing better but Mick gives his all! Of course there's no comparison between Vince and Bret. I'm not knocking Motley I'm just being honest. Here's the thing NIKKI IS PLAYING STADIUMS AND TRACII IS PLAYING CLUBS AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT EATS TRACII UP! Hey Tracii maybe if you paid Nikki what you owed him you may have had a shot at the Joan Jett slot.......maybe.

@@ryant3600 Bro not to argue but I met Tracii multiple times Tracii can be a very miserable person. Yes he spoke on Nikki's talent but he also took shots. Nikki will and has worked with anyone. He only got pissed at Corabi when John took shit out of the band and into the press. I also know John a great dude but even he knows he made a mistake there. I met and conversed with Nikki on many occasions also. Great dude even when he was whacked. First time I met Nikki was in 87. First time I met Tracii was 89. I met Phil and Steve also and I can tell you they are the best two personalities that I met. Corabi was the best 4hrs I ever spent with a rockstar next to Mick Mars the most down to Earth guys you could meet in their positions! Add Phil to that Phil Lewis is a great guy. Btw Steve Riley also explained what happened with LA Guns. Steve took advantage of Tracii and to me it sounds like Tracii took advantge of Nikki or tried too. Tracii gave his version of events as did Steve. Tracii didn't get pissed at Steve for nothing and my guess is Nikki didn't get pissed at Tracii for nothing!

He never could play tho. The guy knows three notes and his knowledge of the instrument and playing equals to me taking bass playing classes for a month or two at best. He was the songwriter and acted as a businessman and spokesperson for the band. He was the looks and stage presence. People bought it at the time but looking back now when on stage the dude is shuffling his bass like an electric guitar and makes this kindergarten like facial expressions and movements. Tommy and Mick are the only genuine musicians in the band who at one point in their lives atleast were truly dedicated to their craft and Vince despite being an actual human turd was decent as a singer, did what it was asked from him and cant deny did pretty well for a guy that never took singing lessons in his life.

Oh boy you are so innocent. Sixx played bass on exactly two of Motley Crue songs in their entire career and it was lightwork three note 10 second stuff. The rest of the stuff was played by standins. They would bring a pro to compensate for lack of Nikki. Nikki's knowledge is very limited. 2 months of bass playing classes at best is Nikki's level. Nikki was never the musical guy in the group. Stage presence, business and song writting was the Nikki role in the band. He was kinda like a manager for the band aswell. He was never the player nor he could play. Ffs the man started taking bass lessons in his 50s. The thing about him tho is that he doesnt even try to deny it. Several interviews in the 80s he said that apparently he played on the songs but it got shed off and his stuff was replaced by other dudes playing without him knowing. Ofcourse he knew since he cant play but he had to make up the story. But the fact he admits it is astounding. Even during the interviews when they ask him about bass he always shifts the subject to his songwriting lol. Do I think hes a fraud? Maybe it depends on your standpoint. Do I think band would have made it without him? No! Like him or not he was the driving force behind it.

Nikki never humbled himself after his overdose and especially in his recovery/sobriety. He’s never made amends to his friends or people he hurt during his addiction. All addicts are selfish. I wonder if he got any spiritual awakening from his near death experience. ??

I also heard the amount he took and which got him O'Ded wasnt that lethal and was blown out of proportion but because Nikki was not a heavy user his body couldnt cope with larger than normal doses of it. If you look at his interviews from his supposed junky period he seems like a normal guy that is not on drugs at all. And then we look at Ozzy Osbourne who is a real hardcore junkie and you cant understand what hes saying. Half of his interviews hes either stoned or under influence. Somethings not adding up...
