"Any sufficiently advanced technolgy is indistinguishable from magic" That's what the rings are. They're so advanced that they look like magic. And considering their creators are enormous dragon people I don't think they were originally desgined to be worn on the fingers. If I were to guess, I'd say they're a seriously advanced piece of Arc Reactor tech combined with energy projectors or something.
In one series they were energy sources for the crashed ship. In comics they were weapons for the makulan’s. that’s their name by the way “makulan” might have misspelled it idk. Anyway the makulan or dragon people as you call them used them to fight and conquer till they crashed on earth and lost them. The Mandarin has used magic tools before so magic and tech are kinda intermixed with him like doom except doom does it better (not insulting this guy he’s awesome but doom is better at this than him).

i just had a thought about why he's skin is green, maybe because he took the rings, his body is being mutated into that of a humanoid dragon, the green skin, the claw like nails, pointy ears, he's turning into a fire breathing scaly winged beast (not really winged but you get the idea)
I'm not sure the animated 90's Mandarin was the Mandarin, he was more like a Chinese green Skeletor then the real one from the books. I kid, but man he was EVIL, and I mean totally insane-ly evil in that show. I did like the alternate they did with the character (s) in Armored Adventures. as far the movie Mandarin, the twist was spoiled and I didn't like it AT ALL, but after 2 more viewings, I liked it a little more. I think for a 4th one they could do something with the Mandarin character/type.

If they did the latest MU movies like they did in “Armored Adventures” with adults instead, I would have been happy. Imagine A story of a friend of Stark asking for help getting the rings & coming to conflict with being power drunk, or being a hero. Probably would of made a good avenger, or hidden ace against Thanoes. I think we where so close to getting something like this every time I remember or see the “Armored Adventures” series. 😭 😿 😢

I would reimagine him to be Gene Khan an successful technological genius (ala Tony Stark) from China and has his own fleet of armored suits called "Ultimos." Dispite his sqweeky clean public image Gene is also The Mandarin the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist cult and is obsessed with trying to save the world from extinction by controlling its technology. I imagine that Gene will have armored based of the Iron Man Armored Adventures cartoon powered by the 10 Ten Power Rings which will be a form of Magic-Tech created by The Makuvans a race of Dragon-like aliens ( The Origin story I was cooking up for the MCU is that they were a race of Magic-Tech scientists-sorcerors whose planet was destroyed by Thanos and his black order and Fin Fang Foom The Makuvans leader sent a escape ship that landed on earth and was uncovered by Genghis Khan and Gene uses The Makuvans technology to advance his company.

Felipe Villagran I agree, the 1994 series is incredibly underrated (even if only the second season is any good). Robert Hays was a great voice for Iron Man, I’m glad he got to reprise the role for the Hulk and Spider-Man animated series. Robert Ito was also an excellent Mandarin.

actually the rings were super advanced alien technology. the movie on its own rights was awesome but saying it replaced Mandarin for realism is a bit misguided. especially when the new mandarin has a firebreathing explosion man with super regeneration.
