The Mark 1 was built to be a tank built of iron and tungsten while the newer armors are fighter jets mixed with sportscars. It's not as precise or advanced, but it hits like a freight train. Strength and brute force over precision.

One of the main themes of the show is that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. The Mandarin and even Doctor Doom, characters whose power was based in magic, now had powers that came from science and technology. It was a cool take on classic characters, especially Mandarin, but I don't know if they could use do the same thing for Thor and other magic characters. He doesn't exactly have a whole bunch of alien rings, nor does he have access to quantum physics.

He tries to warn people about the end of days, but thanks to getting ridiculed he causes the exact Armageddon he was trying to prevent
