Yeah elvish and elven are more common for humanoid elves like tolkein, but elfish and sometimes elfen are more common for house elf/christmas elf type elfed
I always thought it was super dumb of Hermione not to spell elvish right but over time I was like this is a potterism where we take a commonly spelled word and spell it wrong like kwik spell lol instead of quick lol

Also I feel like we need a theory as to why Fred and George bet so much on such an outlandish outcome. Yes it ties in with “the twins represent the whimsical side of wizard culture” and though they are quidditch fans, the audience is never privy to them studying statistics so they could have predicted it.
Despite everyone thinking that outcome was outlandish, it made a lot of sense. Everyone was saying that Krum was the best seeker but Ireland had the best chasers. If Krum didn't get the snitch fast enough, then Bulgaria didn't have a chance. If the twins followed the two teams' histories, strengths and weaknesses, it would've made a ton of sense to make that bet. I'm surprised that bagman thought it was that unlikely.
@@miriamrosemary9110 ur not wrong about Ireland having far better Chasers, but i would still put the outcome in the "outlandish" category. how many times in Quidditch history has the team who caught the Golden Snitch lost the game? i'd bet it would be a single-digit number.

I once read a book full of theories and tidbits about books 1-4, and they guessed that perhaps the twins used a time turner to bet this exact outcome. It was a rather silly theory that's stuck with me for the last 17 odd years.
@@moonkiitty Where would they get one though? I'm assuming anyone who gets one through the Ministry (like Hermione) had to give it back and we know she lowered her class load in book 3/4 dropping Divination and Muggle Studies.
I feel like there's a themed series that should come out of this. One of these for every book!
1. Get some umeboshi candy to represent the sorcerer's stone
2. Make a secret chamber they have to reach into and pull something out of (random good and bad "treats")
3. Maybe use some of the world's hottest chocolate (that's one way to recover after the dementors...)

5. Pink, fluffy 'Snowballs' tainted with bitrex and/or malic acid - to represent the bitter, sour, pink, and fluffy frog-lady.
6. A selection of jelly "candy", where half are potions (spicy, bitter, sour, etc.) and half are just pigs blood.
7. Salted black licorice as resurrection stones, clam flavored candy canes as elder wands, and ghost pepper cotton candy as invisibility cloaks.

Awesome, I'm actually just listening to the Goblet of Fire audiobook right now. But I have a question about the Chamber of Secrets and I need someone to explain it to me 😂 How on earth did the basilisk attack students? In the books it was said it was using pipes. But how could anyone see the monster or its eyes? The attacks happened in school corridors, not in bathrooms. Only Mrs. Norris was attacked right outside the entrance to the chamber. Hermione and Penelope were attacked near library, Justin also in a corridor surrounded by classes full of students and teachers. The basilisk couldn't just slither around the corridors unnoticed for a thousand of years since Salazar Slytherin's times. It was using the school plumbing system so how on earth could anyone see it in the corridors? It's not like air ventilation (or however you guys call it in English, I'm not sure) where you have little crates in the walls to let the air circulate. If the basilisk could get out of the pipes somewhere else than the Moaning Myrtle's bathroom it means there's more than one entrance to the chamber. If not it had to slither around the castle in the corridors in the middle of the day. Someone please make it make sense
Sometimes things dont make sense i guess. I dont really think there is an explanation for this.
I’m pretty sure it just came out through the pluming in the walls and petrified or killed someone then slithered back into the pipe

When you’re talking about a place where the staircases move and there are rooms that come and go, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to assume that the basilisk can get in and out of the plumbing near where the attacks happen.

I love Dobby so much, I recently watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 and I cried so hard when he died, I wish there was more of him in the films, but it did continue Neville's character arc to have him give Harry the Gillyweed, especially since he's an expert in Herbology
So, November 24, 1994 was a Thursday. It literally was thanksgiving. Source: my nieces were born November 25, 1994 which was very famously (in our family, at least) the Day After Thanksgiving.

So I'm binging a load of J vs Ben quizzes, as I do from time to time. Despite watching in a random order, the "How much did Fred & George bet Ludo Bagman..." question has come up for 3 quizzes in row so far.
Use the Last Dab sauce from Hot Ones next time. It's delicious and _dangerously_ hot. You could give yourself ice cream or other relief if you got the subsequent question right, because you'd be worthless hosts with no relief most likely. Also, the crew is great. Nice to see them.

Also, also, never read the books (I know, I know) and I’ve no clue who Ludo Bagman is, but I feel I know that Weasley wager question (or answer) by heart now with how much it’s come up on these quizzes lol Guess before answer reveal: 37, 15, 3, 1 Trick Wand (though I remember Ben once saying there were 2 and it was agreed that was correct?).
I was able to nail that question thanks to these videos as well. I think it’s like that for me with a lot of questions that come up on Harry Potter quizzes, especially since I can just hear J and Ben in my mind after a while.
I would love if all quizzes from now on had some sort of punishment attached. That would really spice them up.

@@DidiTheCoolio I was traveling for work. Had been through 6 countries in 3 weeks, and was back in the states. I live in Texas, but was either in California or Oregon at the time (I forget which). My internal clock was wonky, so they couldn't do my order at the time.
Instead, I ordered for the morning after, and... omg... just... ugh. I remembered. I was in Cali, and I destroyed those wings. Have you ever just had a pure exhaustion meal? I was so happy. Like... emotional connection with a huge bowl of wings.

IDK why, but I always imagined Beauxbatons to be an Urban school that kinda looked like Notre-Dame. Their uniforms aren't too far off in their descriptions from a regular, fancy private school's uniforms, so they would blend in pretty easily.

As someone who is currently drunk halfway out of their minds, it is SO INTERESTING to see how spice and capsaicin seems to have the same loose-limbered, dazed effect XDD
You can add this wrinkle to the quizzes now that you've added a "punishment" part for wrong answers. If J or Ben force the timer on the other and the other gets it wrong, then they have to do double the punishment. However, if the forced player gets it right, the person who forced it has to take the punishment, regardless if they get it right or not.
Only problem with that is that it would just be a race to flip it and give yourself 30 seconds to answer, it would remove the strategy of the timer
