The Count of Tuscany 19:16 A Nightmare to Remember 16:11 The Ministry of Lost Souls 14:57 not to mention ALL of the AA suite songs The Glass Prison 13:53 This Dying Soul 11:27 The Root of All Evil 8:26 Repentance 10:43 The Shattered Fortress 12:49
my 2 favorite live bands are touring together....opening for iron Maiden....tiks for montreal show went on sale at noon yesterday...had mine at 12:03........Up The Irons from New hampshire
yo fellas,i think that besides the rock groups still around from the 60s-the present, they are the best rock band of today in my mind,no?gotta be ,they have it all.thank god there is still a band that WHALE OUT.take care boys.
if you watch his drum videos you can see them. He uses the same setup in the studio that he does on tour. (well maybe with minor differences but mainly the same).
When he does that bend right in the end of the solo, I think he learnt it from the G3 with steve vai and joe satriani xD I remember when both did that kind of dive and he wasn't sure of how to do then, I guess he just incorporated on his own playing :) That's how guitar world is, there's always something new to learn :D
It actually does... i´m a huge fan of both bands... And I dont´know why people don´t like when you say that. Metallica is a huge influence of DT, and that´s clear in the heaviest parts od DT´s songs. DT recorded the whole "MASTER OF PUPPETS" album.I guess that proves they like Metallica a LITTLE bit. DT for me actually is the best band ou there, but... they are people like you and me and have influences...Accept that, people. GREAT SONG
The whole solo of this song is freaking amazing, from 3:55 and on, Drums, Bass and Guitar just synchronize, then the Keys come and just blow everything up from where the Guitar left off \,,/_
LOL I love how JP fucks up on the main riff during the intro and then does the solo perfect IT'S HARD TO PLAY SLOW! XD Lol I love DT. This vid is like, better than the one on the DVD. LaBrie's in rare form up there.
no actually he has a triple bass drum. 2 on the right side if u r faing the fron of it, and one on the left. he has two single iron cobra pedals on the right and an actually has a double bass iron cobra pedal on the right side. if u look on his site, it will tell u everything he has. and the iron cobras are rolling glide pedals...
@neohow The guitar & Keyboard solo are phenomenal, but am I the only one who thinks that the drum beat during the guitar solo is just as amazing as the solos? I've seen it done on videos and it looks absolutely ridiculously difficult, not to mention that it sounds awesome
yea, he uses each half for certain songs depending on what cd theyre on i guess because he changed his drumset after a while and the layout was different so playing old songs would be hard so he just combined them idk im not a drummer idk how that shit works
Use your acoustic set, add some electric drums to it, you can have a different sound for each pad. The mix of an acoustic and an electric actually compliments each other very well.
you can head bang to this..... just because it PROGRESSIVE METAL doesn't mean you cant, its still metal it just means they don't try to make 1 hit wonders they try to make all their song great.
ok so i am a beginner prog drummer, been playing for about a year and i love dream theater epicly any suggestions on how to play a song like this without a huge kit or that many cymbals or just tips in general XD
What does OCD stand for? But yeah, both songs cause great impact when first heard. The way the verses, the beat and instruments are arranged can pass almost a scenery to us, listeners.
@steamidjf not that its impossible, but if you're not a musician yourself, its hard to truly appreciate dream theater. so 99 percent of people at a DT concert are ACTUALLY there to listen to the music, not just to to jump around and mosh to whatever generic thrash beat happens to be blaring at the time
The crowd was shocked into motionlessness by the awesomeness. It also made their ears bleed. Yes...I think that explains no movement until after the solo's were over.
The Count of Tuscany 19:16
A Nightmare to Remember 16:11
The Ministry of Lost Souls 14:57
not to mention ALL of the AA suite songs
The Glass Prison 13:53
This Dying Soul 11:27
The Root of All Evil 8:26
Repentance 10:43
The Shattered Fortress 12:49
Damn, gotta love the guitar on this. So heavy! And the keyboard solo was amazing. Great stuff.
They are THE superband of our time!
EPIC performance, GOOD quality. Thanks for the upload mate.
That keyboard solo is indeed freaking amazing :D
my 2 favorite live bands are touring together....opening for iron Maiden....tiks for montreal show went on sale at noon yesterday...had mine at 12:03........Up The Irons from New hampshire
they sound great live!
the solos amazing
Its awesome to do such a hard som to play so damn good live at stage!
I had the honor to be at this show....so intense..
yo fellas,i think that besides the rock groups still around from the 60s-the present, they are the best rock band of today in my mind,no?gotta be ,they have it all.thank god there is still a band that WHALE OUT.take care boys.
Man wish I was in LA at the time. It sucks they don't come to Texas. Great shot...
GOD I can't wait for this show in May!
I love this song since I first Heard it
you can really hear the difference between studio and live.. but they both = perfection.
if you watch his drum videos you can see them. He uses the same setup in the studio that he does on tour. (well maybe with minor differences but mainly the same).
I like how Jordan kept adding to his rig. It's almost like he was trying to compete with Petrucci's wall of amps and Mike's monster set.
Damn nice bootleg, you got a great cam AND know how to use it :D
Awesome performance.
When he does that bend right in the end of the solo, I think he learnt it from the G3 with steve vai and joe satriani xD
I remember when both did that kind of dive and he wasn't sure of how to do then, I guess he just incorporated on his own playing :)
That's how guitar world is, there's always something new to learn :D
This is such a great song, this is my favourite band by far!.. But you know.. A Glass Prison is a really underrated song!
Thats a huge drum kit right there X.x
Well said, well said; I could not possibly agree more.
love mike's voice
Metropolis pt 1 will always be my fav dt song
lucky LA let you bring in a camera
and i like how the seats are up on a slant, in cleveland we just stand
hell yea dude im going! cant wait!
the crowd must have been shocked to stillness but the godly music thats was reaching their ears
It's not the same as the Chaos in Motion DVD. This is a different one, a bootleg. But glad you enjoy it!
Ridiculously awesome, not that i'd want to play a kit that big, i'm a pretty small guy.
So good damn good live.
Mike has insane drum kit!
As much as there not particularly active, i would still see them live :D
omg they're amazing live, they sound just as good or better then the recording
Decent keyboard solo???? Just Dream Theater!! Awsome !
keyboard solo was amazing

i would love to have a distor like that...
LOL I love how JP fucks up on the main riff during the intro and then does the solo perfect
IT'S HARD TO PLAY SLOW! XD
Lol I love DT. This vid is like, better than the one on the DVD. LaBrie's in rare form up there.
@Nepherupito Not dead, in awe of what they are seeing, jaws on the ground.
they look like they're at a venue in seats, which is no good for a band that rocks so much
no actually he has a triple bass drum. 2 on the right side if u r faing the fron of it, and one on the left. he has two single iron cobra pedals on the right and an actually has a double bass iron cobra pedal on the right side. if u look on his site, it will tell u everything he has. and the iron cobras are rolling glide pedals...

I've seen it done on videos and it looks absolutely ridiculously difficult, not to mention that it sounds awesome
Gotta love the Mirage Drum kit.
that guitar solo and keyboard solo are fucking epic
Yeah!! And the most amazing thing is that Rudess can play it live without any mistakes! ;D
Actually, there is a 4th bass drum, his drumset is like two complete kits and he also uses two thrones
I love Systematic Chaos and i cant wait for Black Clouds & Silver Linings its gonna kick so much ass
dude this is awesome and just look at his drumkit....mine is only a single bass with a double pedal but its still alright
Light of Day, Day of Darkness by Green Carnation is 1 hour long. :P
the beginning is so epic
the crowd isnt dead their just being amazed by their talent
DT for life
se nota que el publico de CHILE es el mas caluroso los demas paises parece que van a dormir al concierto
GRANDE CHILE!!
yea, he uses each half for certain songs depending on what cd theyre on
i guess because he changed his drumset after a while and the layout was different so playing old songs would be hard so he just combined them
idk im not a drummer idk how that shit works
@AlexDrumDiddle not yet but certainly is too near¡¡¡¡ remember the auditions of seven drummers and one of them is mike mangini¡¡
Badass song, awesome! =D
i wish i was there...
Use your acoustic set, add some electric drums to it, you can have a different sound for each pad. The mix of an acoustic and an electric actually compliments each other very well.
@pad117
they do in America. (especially LA)
you can head bang to this..... just because it PROGRESSIVE METAL doesn't mean you cant, its still metal it just means they don't try to make 1 hit wonders they try to make all their song great.
Why do you ask? They scream because LaBrie is brilliant. His voice has recovered so well, it might even be better than in the early 90s!
it's not their trademark, it's just the visual they used in the music video for this
they also use a variety of Instruments, that also makes it Prog.
viva dream theater!!!!
ok so i am a beginner prog drummer, been playing for about a year and i love dream theater epicly any suggestions on how to play a song like this without a huge kit or that many cymbals or just tips in general XD
Wow, this is the first Dream Theater anything devoid of bashing I've ever seen.
James is so classic :)
hahaha definitely "holy shit" status. i love ur new coined term.
@HeavyBmetaL Myung is a Musician Cyborg Created by Petrucci... With no soul, no emotions, just a mind to play! FUCKING AWESOME...
@DarkSouls010 But to most Dream Theater fans, they are at church during one of these concerts!
I agree with that.
Oye I'm gonna see DT live 23.9!
LTE is awesome, they also had liquid tension trio i think, it was more progressive jazz thoughm but still, they rock!
i dont think portnoy gets enough recognition for what he plays during johns solo, its fucking immense
What does OCD stand for?
But yeah, both songs cause great impact when first heard.
The way the verses, the beat and instruments are arranged can pass almost a scenery to us, listeners.
That's it!
the singing is so insanely better in the studio version but the rest is fine :D
Why don't they ever come to Denmark again? :(
dayum
Holy shit ! 5:05 - 1/4 of the way on the left side there's a headbanger !!
What about Six Degrees Octavarium A Change Of Seasons and In The Presence Of Enemies?
yeah cuz hes badass
How can you say Dream Theater sucks?!?! Dream Theater rocks!
Agreed
Holy shit that's an epic drum set XD
Aww you don't have Forsaken? thats a great song ^_^
God...that drum kit.....
music can be enjoyed differently
Labrie kicks this songs ass sooooo much! Fuckin amazing!
i like this one
i dunno, but for some reason
they are equaly good in studio and live
fucking epic keyboard solo
oh man... this whole band is just too much talent lol
@steamidjf not that its impossible, but if you're not a musician yourself, its hard to truly appreciate dream theater.
so 99 percent of people at a DT concert are ACTUALLY there to listen to the music, not just to to jump around and mosh to whatever generic thrash beat happens to be blaring at the time
"Rise" in the middle :D
the singer had a lot of stage presence at this show
The song is a lot faster than the original and of course a solo of that hardmanship is harder to do when is faster... I know you know it!
The crowd was shocked into motionlessness by the awesomeness. It also made their ears bleed. Yes...I think that explains no movement until after the solo's were over.
@usernameisntmine i totally agree! (About mp, not james haha)
its cool how LaBrie can shift his voice
@steamidjf i believe they are considered 'prog'
