    Takes some planning, if you use a basilisk, the -2 to charge can actually make them not able to be charged if they are going after an infantry target.

    Just found your channel and subbed. Great stuff man keep up the good work.
    Post-Pariah Nexus I plan on taking 2 of the 15-man battle blobs of Scions. One is my Warlord to unlock Scions as battleline and give me play on that Secret Mission so he'll be deep striking onto my opponents home objective if possible. The other one would be a typical spike damage battler in no-mans land. And then of course a few small 5 man squads for actions. So far they haven't let me down.
    The other thing worth mentioning is that they can potentially get up to OC 45 with the order/banner. This is really good for stealing/denying primary.

    Quality content yet again. I’ve been looking for an Astra Militarum YT-channel just like this one, with discussions and reasonings grounded in the tournament scene data.
    Already subscribed. 🤗

    One thing I feel like needs to be pointed out as a note of caution for Cyclopses; they're Forge World, which means that based on recent releases, it's probably going away when the Guard codex releases, and almost certainly with 11th edition. Not an immediate problem, but something that's worth considering if you don't already have a Cyclops in your collection.

    I recently had a game where my opponent believes that you can't deep strike a unit that has been reinforced. This is because the specific wording of reinforcements says the new unit enters 'strategic reserves' and must enter on a board edge. The wording of deep strike says the unit must be set up in 'reserves'. Is their reading correct and we can only bring in reinforced scions on a board edge? Nice video Josh, I'm enjoying this series

      Interesting question!
      I've never seen any tournament rule the way your friend argues, and RAW I believe they can still Deep Strike.
      As per the Strategic Reserves rules "Note that while all Strategic Reserves units are also technically Reserves units, the reverse is not true, and so these rules do not apply to units that are using other rules that enable them to start the battle in Reserves (e.g. Deep Strike). Such units are instead set up as described by those other rules."
      While there is a semantic argument to be made that this Reinforcement unit did not start the battle in reserves, this channel is primarily focused on what you see in tournaments, and every tournament I have been to has ruled they may still Deep Strike!

      @@Joushi40k I have the answer to it now. It's similar to GK Mists of Deimos, where if it has DS the unit can be placed into strat reserve. No one has any argument against MoD units being able to DS from strat reserve so the same logic should apply to scions. In short, if you are in strat reserve you can DS as normal. I'm quite annoyed I didn't think of this at the time, because my opponent was playing GK

    Newer player here, I have some questions regarding the Taurox Bomb I feel like I'm missing some key mechanics. Why is the the Psyker rerolling hits as well? Does he inherit it from the Scions' ability? Does this apply to the scion command squad too?
    Do I understand this order of operations and effects as correct? 1)Disembark Scion unit and order FRFSRF 2)Use Fields of Fire on Taurox Prime and shoot target on objective , friendlies now shoot target with +1ap. 3) shoot target with scion unit full rerolls, sustained hits(does psyker have sustained?). 4)charge if appropriate 5) on opponents shooting phase use Psychic Barrier and hope not to die

      @Joushi40k  5 месяцев назад +1

      Good questions!
      1. Yes, the Psyker benefits from the Scion rule and the Command Squad rule since both of them are worded "models in this unit"
      2. Yup! The Fields of Fire part is definitely optional and more effective against targets with a 2+ save. Additionally, it's usually best delivered with Ursula Creed doing it for free via a Mortar. Don't forget that the Taurox Prime has to hit at least one shot on the target you want to re-roll wounds against!

    Didnt they put out an update about disembarking troops being able to issue orders recently? Think there is a faq man. And the bodyguard or any commanders get any ability their squad comes with. So yes you can deepstrike them. Reinforcing also says specifically that it does not apply to command units.
    I stopped watching after that.

    • @Joushi40k
      @Joushi40k  5 месяцев назад +3

      I'm not sure I understand the gripe?
      1. I specifically touch on this in the Taurox Bomb section. The FAQ covers the "Voice of Command" rule but does NOT cover Grand Strategist
      2. If you can cite the rule on this I'll gladly update! However, the Deep Strike ability is listed in Core Abilities on the datasheet and specifies every model in the unit must have the Keyword, which Ogryns do not, in a similar way to Scion Command Squads have the Regiment keyword and therefore the unit has Regiment keyword and can be Reinforced, but the Ogryn Bodyguard does not have the Regiment keyword and therefore doesn't benefit from Fields of Fire
      3. Reinforcements says it cannot be used to return destroyed Character units to ATTACHED units. You can use Reinforcements on the Tempestus Command Squad and also Sly Marbo! You just can't bring the Tempestus Command Squad back ATTACHED to anything
      Hope this clears up the confusion!
