Gotta say, I think Aventurine might be my favorite version of the "Gambler" archetype in gaming. The dude just doesn't hesitate to throw his all against every bet, even and sometimes especially when he didn't need to in the first place. It's just his nature. A gift and a compulsion all in one.
It's so understandable by Topaz and Dr. Ratio seem exasperated by him. He's the best at what he does, but he's chaotic in such a calculating way that you just never know what he's going to do next.
My initial reaction to Aventurine was “oh boy this guy’s gonna be a real barrel of laughs -_-“ but by the end of Penacony I was genuinely invested in his story because I was like “HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT”
Also his dynamic with Ratio is *hilarious*
1st point why he always go all in is he is suicidal.
2nd point is he is blessed by luck, he always wins when it comes to probability.
@@Doflaminguard I would argue that he's not actually suicidal, just incredibly reckless and willing to rely on his luck above all else.
Part of him might think he deserves to die, but lore exposition regarding the Ten Stonehearts very clearly shows that Aventurine has an actual endgame that he's working towards, same as the others.
It's also been shown that Aventurine is very quietly afraid that someday his luck will run out. That at some point his blessing will not be there for him. It's even clear in his character trailer, he's holding a hand behind his back when he makes the big life or death bet with the showman. That's a major tell for gamblers that they're terrified and trying to hide it.

@@chuunibyou759well when the boss is so inherently unfair, it's kinda needed.
Only Asta from the Harmonies can get high gambles, and only Gallagher fuxuan and luocha out of the sustains, so a normal team would usually have the DPS sometimes manage to escape and most supports literally can't get a number over 6, and the punishment for losing the gamble is so much greater than winning it, definitely not fun difficult like argenti/Sam are

i fought him post nerf and it was still a huge pain. Mf would NEVER let me attack so i had to rely on an underbuilt clara for follow up atks because my only built dps are currently Dan IL and Acheron, both were not a good option for me here.

i beat him pre-nerf on my first try. i used 4 characters with aoe/blast attacks or ults in order to get an achievement. my team was absolutely awful but he was insanely easy because we won every dice roll against him because of aoe
What I like about Aventurine as boss character is that it's quite rare for a boss character who actually wanted to lose a fight so badly just for IPC's ultimatum. But also actually won or achieving his goal just from losing the fight.
I just want to point out how well written PEAKCONY morally grey characters are.
I hope they will keep this up for the rest of the story!
And also: Aventurine took Do Or Die a biit too seriously🎲
I'd also like to point out that Aventurine being playable after his little gamble is... Peak Mr. Shaoji. (Same format as the Flame Chasers' demise and then return as Playables)

But over all I am giga hyped to eventually talk about Aventurine and what a marvelous narrative they made for him. The entire trailblaze quest is literally so deep I adore it

All the comments about how painfully hard the unnerfed version of him was make me sad I didn't reach this battle before the nerf. Not because I'm confident I could've beaten him (I only had 2 people with AoE capabilities, he was enough of a pain after the nerf), but because I will never be able to fully relate to the people who witnessed his full strength. I wish they'd give us a choice to select the unnerfed version when they do something like this...
I fought the unnerfed version and it was easy with luocha but still stressfull and only one of my characters died with the least amount of hp and towards the end of the fight too
he will definitely be in moc, probably similar to pre nerf

@@radiatingsunray He is out in the current MOC cycle and I didn't get a single damn turn without him going "ITS ALL OR NOTHING" on me. Sparkle and Silver Wolf were CC for days. I have never had such a hard time reaching the 10 cycle clear in A LONG TIME until this MOC. I spent over 10 cycles alone on killing Aventurine. He couldn't kill me, but it was just very slow. Need to definitely rethink my teams on both sides. Feels bad when I don't have a strong ice damage dealer and ice would have been great for the second half Aventurine is in.

Aventurine the character i didn't really like at the beginning of penacony story quest but definitely one of my most favorites now
I enjoyed this fight, its not brute force-able. I had to come up with an actual strategy and a gamble to beat this guy coz my only dps is ratio and sustain is firetbz, march and nat. (Eqm lvl 6)
I use the Astral Express team minus DH. Let me tell ya, it's fun strategizing when to use shield, attack, and ult during this boss fight.
