Where is the salsa? I don’t even hear a tumbao pattern in any of the songs, if anything they were more doing the soukous snare to the clave sort of thing as opposed to the traditional way that the clave is supposed to function in the percussion. In general the percussion patterns in the whole ost felt more just for generic tribal flavoring except for some reason when theyre doing samba, tresillos and bossa nova??
@@Someone45356 they need to be more generic if they want to include more than one culture which is what they're doing for natlan and what they did for sumeru, this is the idea i am getting
@@coffeeshampoo87 especially when theyre not even properly taking advantage of what they had. The spanish empire united so many places including the main core of the natlan influences together, but couldve also brought over from the philippines, equatorial guinea, and the peninsula ofc without much fear of sounding off base. By specifying they want to give tribute to the indigenous pre-colombine cultures, while at the same time including many of them at once (where these had absolutely no tie with one another), putting modern motifs while still saying its pre-colombine, putting cultures that have literally nothing to do with the americas anymore. This is the sort of thing a nat geo documentary would put as background music, natlan has absolutely no focus yet it acts like it does for real.
@@Someone45356 i haven't read too indepth about this but i haven't seen any official confirmation on them basing natlan off anywhere specific, just generally ancient latin america judging from what they have showed us in travail. only now they're revealed that they've taken inspo from west african culture too. i do agree there is some discrepancy between the modern (post-spanish colonization of mexico) and pre-colombian aspects of the soundtrack but speaking from their perspective there's only so much they can do with a ton of information. its a tedious process, especially with their goal of one region per year
Kinich: O_O uh oh Aether: don't tell me were about to go down a huge waterfall Kinich: yup Aether: jagged rocks at the bottom Kinich: most likely Aether: bring it on (-insert going down the waterfall) Aether: BOOYAHAHAHAWOOOOOOOO (XD Lets be honest there should be an animation of that with Aether and Kinich doin that bit cuz that would be freaking hilarious)
Well there's still have Yu-peng Chen's contribution in the song, like YPC created the leitmotif(?) for each region afterall, so its like hoyo got the blueprint for the song from YPC from the start. But yeah, it just not a major contribution for YPC anymore since he left.
i like how the first two ones are all tribal and native south american, and then there's the third one, exactly what we expected after the travail teaser
These r my favourite sections and overall catchiest parts of each theme: Battle theme 1 - 1:37, 3:23, Battle theme 2 - 5:12, 6:50, Battle theme 3 - 8:50, 9:30 I'm obsessed with the natlan music already 💃🪇🥁
@idkatthispoint-s9s It does sounds like a final version. However, every year when a new region gets leaked out, the beta will always release a midi version before they make some final tweaks or extra instruments/vocals on the songs which will sound very different or even better than the midi. I don't know how long you played this game, but you should look up the early chasm battle theme leaked during version 2.6 that was later reused for the Apep weekly boss, and you'll hear the differences night and day.
@@barrywest-allen3261 it was true until recently: Arlecchino's Second phase boss theme was in its final version in beta right away. Also, one of these battle themes (the second one) was used in a trailer, so that one's definitely final version

1st one feels like a classic sumeru battle theme, so very catchy, 2nd one is my personal fav, the vocals add a surprising and a unique touch, the 3rd one is a straight up salsa/dance battle. heavy Spanish vibes, LOVE ITTTT
And the third ost is the boss theme for the new wyvern boss leaked which feels like a dance when fighting it and it gives off some monster hunter vibes.
@@RoyalTfrii Interesting if that's true and that's a relief because I don't like the third theme. It's not made for combat against anything threatening, it's taking away any tension and serious. Where is the salsa? I don’t even hear a tumbao pattern in any of the songs, if anything they were more doing the soukous snare to the clave sort of thing as opposed to the traditional way that the clave is supposed to function in the percussion.
