Don't worry, Genshin content is all free to react to and use. They actively encourage reactions to their games and content from their games, they never copystrike. Free game, free music, it's the Chinese way I guess. The smile when you turned off subtitles was GOLD.
Im a chinese. I ve seen your reaction (translated form) in chinese YT called Bilibili. There is already 480k watches in the channel. Many chinese people is touched by your true feeling and that "i dont need subtitle". Hope you have a nice day in your country, god bless you😊
Hello. I'm Japanese. When I heard this music, I was instantly hooked. I also learned about musical instruments that I didn't know about before. Their language and songs are very powerful and give me energy. While listening to it, I was so moved that I started crying. I've grown to really like these. Genshin taught me the charm of different cultures through music.
I feel Genshin does it's absolute best to cause many people from many different cultures to come together. After all. The entire point of the game is for everyone to enjoy.
As someone who is a Genshin player, seeing someone who has never heard of it react so genuinely makes me realise that THIS is what real representation is and not the people arguing on twitter. I hope when the full album of this music releases you will come back and listen to it again.
Yup! I mean culture is not just skin culture deep kinda sad that people in is Soo focused on D,E,I no wonder the western based games are dying because of it😔
For context: Each country in Genshin Impact is heavily inspired by a real world equivalent. The new country that players will soon be able to explore, Natlan, draws inspiration from Africa and South America, so that's why there was a mix of traditional instruments from both continents. These are just 2 of the songs that players will be able to hear while visiting Natlan, the first being the main theme for the region, and the 2nd being one of 3 battle themes, but there are many more soundtrack specific to that region that haven't been released yet. I don't know if other songs will have vocals or not however, we'll find out in a week or so.
I was a little worried Natlan would not have a strong identity because it draws from so many influences... sort of what Sumeru suffered a little from. Its not like Liyue or Inazuma where it's China and Japan. After seeing the livestream I think my concerns were misplaced. ❤
Sumeru did have an identity, divided between the forest that was largely influenced by a mix of Indian and Iranian culture and mythology, and the desert which was primarily Egyptian. There were traces of Arab, Jewish, Greek, Amazigh, and Nubian influences too, but those other three were the primary influences. Natlan seems to be doing a somewhat similar thing with different tribes that I'm guessing lean more towards Mesoamerican influence, others Polynesian, and others West African. Actually I would argue that combining the different cultures that made up Sumeru made a bit more sense than combining the Natlan ones. At least in Sumeru's case there are history examples of empires that encompasses all (or at least most) of the lands that Sumeru drew inspiration from, such as the Achaemenids, Sassanids, and the early Arab Caliphates. Under the Sassanids for example the Iranians ruled both Egypt and parts of India at the same time, as well as the Greek, Jewish, and Arab influenced parts of the Middle East, and there was a mix of faiths present in their empire ranging from Christianity, Manichaeism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, etc. all of which influence Sumeru's lore. So at least in Sumeru's case there was some historic precedent for most of those cultures and religions being part of the same empire for some periods of time. But in Natlan's case there so far has been influence seen from Polynesia, Mesoamerica, and West Africa when it comes to the names of characters, as well as the Andes, East Africa and Spain when it comes to influences in their music. There isn't an example of a time in history when all those cultures interacted with each other and were part of the same empire like there is in the case with Sumeru, unless you argue for Spain's colonial empire being that example. But from the perspective I'm seeing it from it seems HOYOverse just decided to combine all the "extra" regions of the world that weren't included in one of the other six nations, lumping basically all of the Indigenous Americas, Oceania, and Sub-Saharan Africa into one region when historically those places had no interaction with each other the way the cultures influencing Sumeru at least had.
@@findingaetherYeah, I struggle a lot personally to figure out what is inspired by what and which cultures seem ore prominent in the inspiration I think it’s Persia and Egypt??? But I’m not sure
As a Peruvian, I felt quite emotional with this orchestra. Seeing and hearing instruments like the zampoña that were part of my childhood in a certain way is something indescribable. My generation usually learns to play it during primary school and hearing something so much from our childhood and culture again feels incredible. (English directly from the translator)
ALL THE AFRICANS ARE CRYING 😭😭😭 I feel so lucky. I am a South African Indian, also a Muslim. This means that not only did I get representation from Sumeru (as an Indian and Muslim, literally the only time I've seen us painted in such a beautiful way) , but also some from Natlan (as an African). I got sooo emotional, I loved it so much and made me feel at home, even if the languages used aren't necessarily from my country. It's the African spirit 💖🇿🇦🇰🇪
@@CarlosAnglada yes he is a person of the culture that is being represented and he understands and appreciates that just like me, but in my case it is to a lesser extent because I am South American not African
Preach this. I bet those dramatic mf'ers aren't even from Africa/Latam. This video should be the genuine reaction we should seek from native people, and they didn't even play the game.
@@CarlosAnglada I think a good example is comparing this reaction vs other people reaction: Other people: see a black guy as the singer and immediately start spamming "melanin" comments. This reaction: black guy as the singer? no comment... realizes he can understand the language = excited That is what culture means to the people, not a color.
Brother thank you for the reaction. Having a Swahili-speaker react to the Natlan Symphony is what I'm looking for after its initial release and you didn't disappoint. I'm glad that Genshin Impact take their music production seriously, representing different region to their respective counterparts.

I love this game so when i heard them using our language, i was proud of what they did. Genshin is a very well revered game, and a huge part of it is its music. Who knows? Maybe one day south east asia might one day have a special region outside of teyvat that both worship the 7 archon. Since south east asia is one of the most diverse region in earth
@@christbenitez8797It will be a big challenge.Southeast Asia is basically a combination of Austronesian culture as it remains in Oceania, Indian and Chinese culture. It's like Mihoyo has to combine Liyue, Natlan and Sumeru into a new region, while still showing the same cultural characteristics as the 3 original regions. But also something new and different from the culture of the 3 regions of origin. The problem that must be faced will start like this, is Thailand the same as India? We will clearly answer no, but in fact the influence of India is still very strong,The same thing will also apply to Vietnam which received a lot of influence from China. There is still Indonesia where the west is still similar to other mainland Southeast Asian countries, but in the east it has very high similarities with the culture in Australia and Oceania. European influence is also an important component in the formation of SEA culture. SEA culture is very distinct, but also very similar to other cultures. This may be because SEA never had a civilization strong enough to create a great culture and influence the cultures of foreign countries. Also not geographically isolated, or isolating itself through policies. It would be great if SEA really became a new region in the Genshin world,It's just that I myself can't imagine what the area would be like, the musical instruments used in the soundtrack, and the geography. As a fellow Southeast Asian, let me know what you think, what would Southeast Asia be like if it was in genshin
@@st.c2915As a SEA as well, I think we do have some music that while derived from India/neighbouring countries, is still very different on its own rights. For example, there is Javanese music which is very unique imo (e.g the Gamelan), and as a Thai our way of singing/opera is also very different from others. I understand that similarities between countries can cause problems, but at the same time look at Liyue and Inazuma. Chinese instruments and Japanese instruments are similar due to their history, such as the zither, but there are student very different music that they can produce. Liyue has Yunjin, who shows the uniqueness of the Peking Opera, giving them a separate identity. I believe SEA music in hoyoverse can one day be achievable. It was sad that we weren't quite represented as much, but I am happy to see the roots of our heritage still being expressed through Sumeru. Sadly, we won't get any regions dedicated to us soon in Genshin. Hopefully, we will have just as beautiful of an orchestra dedicated to our region in HSR. There are slight hopes on this, after all, one of Blade's animation and music featured Sanskrit, a language root to many SEA languages! All the best!
@@st.c2915I could see them execute it in just the sense of the very traditional stuff. The early Malay culture, the traditions of the Khmer and stuff like that. Influence would still be strong but by that point it wasn't so strong and allowed for the architecture to still be somewhat distinct. It's like temples and stuff where you could go "yeah, that could just go in the India region." That would make it less of a chore to put together, I think because the Austronesian culture is still quite prominent.
As a day one player of genshin impact, what can I say... Is a game with its ups and downs, but something that is always an up is the feeling of "my culture is there" when people from all over the world listen to its music. A big hug to you, Edygrim and cheers to the Hoyo-Mix team and the Orchestra for doing what they do best
@@advendra6078Hell yeah! As a day one player, the incredible journey Hoyo's given us through each region with the story and music is enough for me to keep playing. I wanna see the story through to the end

9:27 "if i ever get superpowers and they make a movie about me you better put this as the soundtrack" i loved this reaction 😭 this was such a wholesome video to watch
I was climbing a mountain, and I asked the guide how close we were to the top. He responded, "Natlan Live Symphony Performance." I smiled, I knew it was the PEAK.
Additional context from story perspective, Natlan, the region this music coming from has been fighting against a force which uses dark powers, they're called "The Abyss" for centuries. Which also the reason why they're called "the nation of war". Bcs their fight against The Abyss will never end (unless something can stop The Abyss completely from invading Natlan). Now you know why the music is uplifting and makes you feel courageous or feel like you can do anything. Thw symphony is meant for warriors and heroes to march into battles 💪
@@gordonchao3074 agreed. Even to this day I feel like Africa as a whole still struggles against remnants or even still under some form of colonialism. I like to joke the fact that Mauvika is fair skinned bcs she's an usurper (due to the Dragon King vs Celestia debacle), she's a literal symbol of colonialism and occupied land.
“I’m going to show everyone this now” I feel that. I felt that in my soul. Good music deserves to be shared, and I am so happy more people will enjoy this with us fans.
Just so you know, Hoyoverse (the developers behind Genshin) never copyright strike any official content they put out for any of their games. In case you do get a strike, it is a false claim from a random person which you can fight, so there is no need to censor anything, audio or visual.
@@Andre-0207Yes, it is problematic to limit someone's culture by skin color alone. Culture is a complex and multifaceted aspect of identity that encompasses language, traditions, beliefs, music, and more. It cannot be accurately or fairly determined by skin color. Doing so can lead to stereotyping, exclusion, and a reductionist view of someone's identity, ignoring the richness and diversity within and across cultural groups. Everyone has the right to define their own cultural identity, which can be influenced by a variety of factors beyond physical appearance.
@@eightyeight2379 If the people complaining knew even just a fraction about these cultures they'd realize that music is the most important part of their culture. So the current representation is spot on.
those who overreacted about the skin color and claimed they want equality for black people just speak bullsh*t bc from what I knew they're WHITE! They're just lamenting to defend themselves from being called "racists" while black people haven't said anything, and they didn't even plan to say anything bc they genuinely enjoy the characters made in the game
An opera singer unfamiliar with Swahili also reacted to this performance and commented how the language really fits the idealqualities most optimal for singing. Usually it’s ones where consonants are at the front of syllables with exception to holdable consonants like m, n, s, as vowels take centre stage in emphasis. Beautiful language on a phonetic and syllabic level, I trust vocabulary and grammatically the same (I mean seeing how fewer words are used in comparison to English, suggesting more complex vocabulary or use of tenses)
You've kind of described it very accurately. Swahili words are very easy to subdivide and each word generally has many syllables, with each syllable sometimes having a whole host of interpretations and meanings. In other words, a single word can be translated to an entire sentence in english while still retaining the same meaning. As for the vocabulary and grammar in relation to the translation of the song, it leaves alot to he desired. I feel that they probably should have consulted some natives in order to ensure that the translations were right yet also maintaining rhythmic integrity. If its not obvious yet, im a Kenyan too and a genshin player. Plus I've studied a bit of music.
I'm Argentinian, My culture is not reflected here, but I was still moved to tears seeing the inclusion of such beautiful cultures as South Africa and several South American countries, among others. If you ever decide to stick around the Genshin channel, they'll eventually release an album of Natlan music. Which includes these 2 tracks and a lot more. Could be of great interest to you mate!
First of all, thank you for the delightful reaction. To answer your question as to whether Swahili sounds good to a non-Swahili speaker, it's a resounding "YES!"; it's a very beautiful language. I've been cognizant of the language all my life but haven't really been exposed to it all that much. Since I play Genshin Impact, naturally I would listen to these tracks more than usual and I always find myself saying "Man, what beautiful a language."

I just saw your tear stains when the music stops. When did the tears came out I don't even realize! I feel you bro, who isn't proud of mother language?
This is my first time getting to know about Swahili language, I am truely amazed by how beautiful the language sounds in these two musical pieces. I would love to hear more!
This is one of the main reasons I love this game. Its music never fails to amaze me and seeing all these different sounds and chords from around the world come together in such a beautiful symphony is truly awe inspiring to me.
I was waiting for someone who spoke swahili to react to this... 🥹 nice video!!! Was funny how long it took you to understand your own language... 🤭 greetings from Brasil!
Only Genshin Music can make me cry every time... Only Genshin Game in general makes me cry when I play the archon and event quests... Mihoyo touches some deep chords and the surprise and commotion always are my reaction. So it's beautiful to see a so genuine reaction as yours
I love how Genshin Impact unites cultures from all over the world and we can see such beautiful and touching reactions whenever we come across the content of this game. as Dainsleif once said in the perpetual meantime of a sheltered eternity, most are content to live, and not to dream. But in the hidden corners where the gods gaze does not fall there are those who said "What is Genshin Impacr"
the audio of genshin also got me hooked up as well as the game and the lore of the game itself. i am so happy i am playing genshin ❤ it satisfies those you know spots ahahah

idk if its jus my hormones being crazy but when u paused and said "i never thought i would hear a swahili symphony" it made me tear up :,) the diversity in genshin is not perfect, but idk it jus makes me so happy to see so many beautiful people and cultures coming together! thank u for this video, ur amazing
Bro, I am from South Africa and listening to this made me cry because as a player, all we wanted was proper representation of our culture. There was a lot of debate with the company on why our cultures are used but never visually represented. I would also suggest listening to the Fontaine, Sumeru and Inazuma traks. You will be blown away how they capture the essense of each country or continent they represent
What a beautiful reaction! It makes me happy that Hoyoverse puts so much consideration into their music that people of all cultures can appreciate it- but when the company actually draws from a culture to make their music- they do it in such a respectful and representative way to honor the culture they're drawing from. Thank you for uploading this, and know that millions around the world are being introduced to your language, your instruments, and your culture!
Thank you for the reaction... I'm from Indonesia and I cried while listening to this masterpiece, it must be very touching for you to hear them sing in your language with the instrument from your country ❤
I am glad you enjoy it. when they were planning this 4 years ago, the original concept for this piece was latino. 2 year ago it shift toward a more native american and african concept. I think they did a good job and made the right call. the music team, Hoyomix is kinda know of using more contemporary arrangement. and I think it is great because it inspire more to experiment with mixing different music together.
Lets take a moment to appreciate Composer: Dimeng Yuan (HOYO-MiX) and Yuxi Wang and the team behind hoyomix. Incredibly talented people. Their music is top tier in all of the video game industry. Also stay tuned for more since they keep posting these music videos. Once you genshin there is no genshout.
Yess!! It makes me so happy to see people from all over the world come together to make something incredible 😭🫶 humans are awesome when we work together 💪
I’m central Asian and I cried after hearing this masterpiece Swahili is such a beautiful language it was first time to listening to it and you should be proud of your mother tongue ❤
Ha! You cried at the end! I was already crying at 4:55; the chorus with "For family, home and nation" broke me, as someone said before "the music makes me feel patriotic for a nation that doesn't even exist!". After Sumeru and Fontaine, I know this song will also be used during Natlan's story arc climax. And just like Sumeru and Fontaine, everytime it plays again we'll be reminded of the story and its saddest moments.
I think some of my favorite things about Genshin is getting to see people get blown away that something core to their identity is brought to life in the music, world, or characters in ways they just didn't expect. These things aren't part of my own identity, but they bring nostalgia in a way that is very particular, and it was how there was stuff in Sumeru (another nation in the game, Natlan is also a nation) reminded me so much of the stuff I was exposed to since my mom's employers were Indian. And then in Fontaine (another nation), there was a lot of stuff there about the French court around the end of their royals' reign that I learned about as a kid and brought back those memories. Even now in Natlan, some of the Native instruments I could find in the symphony here, and especially some of the percussion from other places, it takes me back to when I was a child in music class, and our teacher had us exposed to almost everything she could get her hands on. I cannot imagine what it's like for others to see their cultures represented like this, seeing as I'm just a white lady in Midwest America, but if it's enough for me to be in awe then what you (and others) feel must be over the moon. I'm happy to see people get blown away over and over again.
I initially had a little doubt about the accuracy of the subtitle as someone who does not speak the language, but when you exclaimed "This is my language" and turned off the subtitle, all my doubts dissolved away 😭I'm glad this video is recommended to me! Love your reaction!!
I felt you when tears started coming down. I myself had no words while watching the video, and though I may not understand exactly how beautiful that felt when you saw your language being used in such beautiful compositions, the music really made me realize how diversity is such a wonderful thing. This also made me appreciate the places and cultures Natlan was inspired from. As a Hoyoverse player myself, their music is one of the best reasons why I keep playing their games. In Genshin, whenever enemies are chasing after me in Natlan, I actually try to prolong the fight so I can hear the full soundtrack. 🥹
After playing Genshin for 3 years and as I stand at the doorway to a nation that represents my kind I know it now woth all my heart. Genshin Impact is a Love letter to all humanity.
You can tell the sheer awe of his voice when he said "I've never heard a Swahili orchestra". Genshin never fails to get Ws when it comes to their music.
By the way, the first song, will most likely be part of some major cutscene in the game(or some important location) the second one is going to be the battle music for the new region. Actually, the fast paced melody that you are hearing, is actually called Photons of Fluctuation. It is Genshin's signature battle music. Every new region that they release, has at least one battle track, that has this melody but with the traditional theme of the region. So for the first region it was more euorpean/german, then Chinese version of it, then japanese, middle eastern-indian, french, and this is the current region that is being released. The main melody remains the same, but the instruments change to the local special instruments and the style changes to match the music of the culture its representing.
When I first listen to this, I began to become emotional. The way they compose and make the instruments and the voices work well together is so beautiful it makes me cry.
when he realized the vocals were swahili his reaction was so wholesome and heartwarming. his excitement and when he said he can turn off subtitles because he understands made me smile. i really love seeing musical professionals as well as native speakers react to music in their language. i've always loved genshin's music and how it incorporates cultural aspects into each specific region, such as the swahili language in natlan's music, or certain instruments that originate from the real world region the game represents.

When I heard this music, I was instantly hooked. I also learned about musical instruments that I didn't know about before. Their language and songs are very powerful and give me energy. While listening to it, I was so moved that I started crying. I've grown to really like these.

@@SeanBoborano It was such a pure moment! There was no bias whatsoever. (I went into this vid blind thinking it's a Genshin player react)
It truly makes me proud of being part of this, seeing Genshin go down in history in real time.
Some do have, i have heard the leaked ost, two battle theme include the one on this orcheatra and some of other in game ost do have
I was a little worried Natlan would not have a strong identity because it draws from so many influences... sort of what Sumeru suffered a little from. Its not like Liyue or Inazuma where it's China and Japan. After seeing the livestream I think my concerns were misplaced. ❤
@@findingaether i think sumeru had an identity. i dont know what you really mean
As another SEA, I’d absolutely love that but I doubt it’ll happen 🥲 maybe in HSR or a future game
HOYO-MIX music made him feel represented and I love it. The moment he realized that they were singing in his language was very wholesome.

THIS is why representation matters! I also cried tears of joy and pride listening to this and when sumeru initially came out since I’m arab (yemeni)
This is the real representation that matters not some color of skin
The moment bro realizes they're singing in his language
An opera singer unfamiliar with Swahili also reacted to this performance and commented how the language really fits the idealqualities most optimal for singing. Usually it’s ones where consonants are at the front of syllables with exception to holdable consonants like m, n, s, as vowels take centre stage in emphasis.
Beautiful language on a phonetic and syllabic level, I trust vocabulary and grammatically the same (I mean seeing how fewer words are used in comparison to English, suggesting more complex vocabulary or use of tenses)
I know who that opera singer is 😏
You've kind of described it very accurately.

Thank you for reacting. As someone who plays Genshin Impact, nilikuwa nawatch live update ya 5.0 ... I was so shocked that i started crying too 😌😂
I love how he got so excited when he realized they were singing in swahili😂❤
They make real masterpieces 🎉🎉
I initially had a little doubt about the accuracy of the subtitle as someone who does not speak the language, but when you exclaimed "This is my language" and turned off the subtitle, all my doubts dissolved away 😭I'm glad this video is recommended to me! Love your reaction!!
It's a sign for you to start playing Genshin XD
The only reaction video I have seens so far that is actually sincere...
the genuine happiness when you realized they were singing in your language was priceless, it made my day😊
I felt you when tears started coming down.
Nah bro, I almost cried when he heard his language.
Greetings from Mexico, new sub.
You can tell the sheer awe of his voice when he said "I've never heard a Swahili orchestra". Genshin never fails to get Ws when it comes to their music.
I got emotional and feeling patriotic listening to Natlan's theme song. The music is epic, and the lyric feels very powerful.
By the way, the first song, will most likely be part of some major cutscene in the game(or some important location)
the second one is going to be the battle music for the new region.
Thats how i felt all warm and fuzzy after listening to sumeru bgm (port ormos). I'm really happy they represented our culture in it
When I first listen to this, I began to become emotional. The way they compose and make the instruments and the voices work well together is so beautiful it makes me cry.
That "waa" at 3:39 😂
when he realized the vocals were swahili his reaction was so wholesome and heartwarming. his excitement and when he said he can turn off subtitles because he understands made me smile. i really love seeing musical professionals as well as native speakers react to music in their language. i've always loved genshin's music and how it incorporates cultural aspects into each specific region, such as the swahili language in natlan's music, or certain instruments that originate from the real world region the game represents.
Amazing reaction video. I am Genshin Impact player myself. Can't wait to continue the game story next week, update version 5.0 Natlan expansion.
Genshin Impact is a video game, you can play it on mobile phone as well as PC and console (Playstation5). It is an anime game with aspects of open-world exploration and some puzzles, with periodical limited-time events but when you play the game to the current last state (main story or main quest), you will realize the very high quality of lore or story along with all the music within the game.
hello there , i am an egyptian and listening to this made me tear of how beautiful and great it sounds , swahili language is so beautiful and this is actually my favorite music from all of genshin , i felt so happy when you said i do not need subtitles it made me really happy i wish they do more of this really
his smile when he said "thats my language.. wait, thats my language!" made my day
