Man, the fontaine main theme really hits differently if you already finished its main story quest. I wouldn't be surprised if they will do the same again, being how epic Natlan's main theme is.
What he said about missing a moment like with Cocolia where the music explodes at the right moment is impossible to do in Genshin, because it is an open world, each player will have many variables to get to a certain moment, and stopping the action so that the music fits sacrifices that freedom that the open world gives us, in HSR it is much easier to do because what they did was repeat the beginning of the song until the player touches a button and they advance the song to when it goes wild, which ingame sounds good but listening to the full song and hearing that cut breaks the flow of the song, Still, it wouldn't be bad if they tried.
Exactly, it's kind of hard to time music like that in the middle of an open free flowing combat boss battle. The usual thing they stick to with tamer 1st phase soundtracks and then more epic 2nd phase soundtracks isn't bad though.
to be fair, they almost did it with the Scaramouche battle theme during the secong phase because it's the pokemon doing all the damage and you can only dodge and collect the crystal things on the field, it makes the battle less dependent on the player's damage, and the song's drop is almost perfectly timed to the one-shotting attack (the Setsuna Comet or however it's called) if you don't destroy the shooting electro things fast enough Aranara WQ had a great fight in the end with the music that only appeared once and never again, and was pretty nice timed with the players actions too but most of the people didn't even experience it coz long quest XD I remember they were also experimenting with the dynamic OST changes around 2.5-2.6 (like Shogun boss from Ei's 2nd SQ, Chasm battle themes) which also made getting into and out of fights more impactful and interesting, but they ditched it I guess?
