👋🏻Howdy from Texas! Brothers and Sisters! Yep, Wolf Hall and The King…. Saw where Cromwell had his fantasy about Anne but didnt see the room where Henry V dressed down and killed his Chief Justice…Man what I would give to sleep on the floor 1 winter night by the fireplace 🔥
My favorite version of “Jane Eyre” (2006) was filmed here! I always wondered where it was filmed. Thank you so much. Your channel is an Anglophile’s dream. (I have lots of English ancestors and love all things doing with English history.)
As a descendent of Sir Richard de Vernon (the first Vernon to own Haddon) and Alice Avenell, it warms my heart to see such a positive review or the ancestral home. It has always ben a wish of mine to visit it, as have many of my cousins, but alas, I never had the opportunity. Thanks again for the glowing review.
Both of our presenters, Gavin and Jo, are also descendants of Richard Vernon, and it really is quite a spectacular place! Maybe one day you will be fortunate enough to visit, and if you do, definitely try the cream teas in the tea room :D
@@govisitcastles Thank you for this video. I have loved Haddon Hall since I saw it in the version of "Jane Eyre" with Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska, which I think may have been my introduction to it. And thank you for the well-informed narration and lack of intrusive music and fake rushing water and birdsongs throughout your video!!
The Long Gallery at Haddon Hall and especially its ceiling were the decorative inspiration for the First Class dining saloon on board the RMS Olympic & Titanic.
If you have any disability or movement issues you should be aware of the worn uneven steps leading up to the entrance from the entrance from just past the tearoom entrance and throughout the building. Apart from that the visit is extremely worthwhile .My last visit was just prior to COVID so it may have changed.
I absolutely agree, Haddon Hall is indeed perfection! What an *incredibly* beautiful building, and of course, one that is so well preserved. Just subscribed to your channel.
`Almost in my back yard, yet I`ve never been. If that place isn`t haunted then there`s no such thing as a ghost. This isn`t the reason I`ve not been. To my shame I didn`t know it exists.
@@richwebster117 This afternoon I was in `Ye Olde White Hart Inn," in the Old Town of Hull - close to The Land of Green Ginger. If I was in the Bar thena couple walked in, asked for a couple of drinks and went into the Lounge. Two minutes had not passed before the lass ( of the couple ) was back asking for more drinks, since the first ones they had purchased had been taken away from them and broken against the wall closest to them. As I left I saw one of the excellent Barmaids cleaning up the smashed glass and liquid. I was so , so disappointed since I`d have loved to have been sat 10 ft away from where I was in fact sat and seen this spooky stuff with my own eyes. I hate being the skeptic.
Привет, спасибо за твой вопрос. Хэддон-холл принадлежит лорду Эдварду Мэннерсу - что касается другого вопроса, я буду задавать другим людям, которые, скорее всего, знают. Большое спасибо!
another great trip , another great castle presentation , it is very nice to watch you . I would love for you to introduce the castles in Istanbul and Anatolia. AMAZİNGGGG 🏰🏯
People didn’t enjoy the Long Gallery at all, that was preserved for one’s Lord’s and Ladies as we the peasantry wallowed down in the sewers and these buildings lay testimony to that.

This Haddon Hall is truly an amazing place. Who owns it, and does anyone reside in any of the buildings?
It's in Derbyshire, and is owned by Lord and Lady Edward Manners. They do reside there in the buildings around the upper courtyard
I must say I'am envious. Wouldn't be amazing to own and live this kind of place 😍.
This is great. I imagine if one got lost you could there before being found and as there were no cellphones then.
Definitely no cell phones Shiela! But a wonderful home I imagine - the feeling we got there was certainly of calm and peace.
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Another great video guys, definitely a must to visit!
First rate video, why you guys haven't more subscribers is a mystery.

Yes, there's a really good energy and feel about the place - thanks for the comment!

Кто владеет этим замком в нынешнее время и упоминается ли он в Книге Страшного Суда?
