I ordered the "No Stomach, The Stomach Eliminator" 3 months ago. I sent $19.95 to the PO box listed in the commercial. The check cleared, but I have yet to see my "No Stomach". I even called the 800 number, and it just rings! I am this close to notifying the Better Business Bureau!
You all should be thankful it didn't come in because mine did and now I don't have a stomach anymore and have to use a colostomy bag to survive which is causing serious health issues!!
Joe Flaherty - so brilliant, so funny - Sammy Maudlin was just one of the brilliant characters he created - Rest In Peace, Joe - thanks for all the great laughs!
That Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme bit?--how truly great! Hilarious lyrics and...they can really sing (which should be no surprise!). I wonder how many younger viewers will catch on to exactly how perfectly that song and Dave Thomas and Catherine O'Hara's performance captures the essence of the original Steve and Edie, their on-stage shtick?
That's spelled the late ⏰ Eydie (but not Edie) Gormé who died 💀 on August 10, 2013, six days before her 85th birthday 🎈, at Sunrise 🌅 Hospital 🏥 & Medical Center in Las Vegas 🎰 after a brief 🩲, undisclosed illness 😷 at the age of 84.
One of countless great sketches throughout SCTV’s magic run.. just brilliant, hilarious, and yes, they could sing too ( the ‘scatting’ was just fine as well) SCTV forever!
When Bobby Bittman starts berating the audience for not applauding him and Sammy enthusiastically enough..."Where did you find these people, Poland?" I'm dying!🤣
All extremely funny - Bittman is an absolute gem and the way he talks to the child while holding a cigarette on top of the kids head is just genius. Its too bad they had to end it all on a Candy weight joke. I know he was fun loving, but from what Ive read the digs about his weight really did hurt him even though he always went along.
It just dawned on me that Bobby is always "getting serious" for a moment. I think he says, "In all seriousness," "Let me get serious for a minute..." or "As a comic...(some serious thing)" in every appearance. I guess I'm slow, because it took me a long time to realize that vampires like Count Floyd should not be howling like werewolves.
I always loved this episode - the absolute shamelessness of asking people to send them gold to support their private company and then yelling at them when they didn't send enough - just brilliant.
SCTV is without equal, and Joe, you were always my fave. No one could make me laugh like you and I could never explain why. To anyone. Which to me is the essence of humor.
It's just one of those things kids, you had to be there. Jerry Lewis ran this telethon every year for Muscular Dystrophy, a very rare disease, and he would bring kids in wheelchairs out on stage and cry and at the end sing that song. Every Labor Day we had to watch a hundred acts, obscure night club acts during the wee hours and an appearance from celebrities like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin in the prime time. It was considered a big break to get scheduled to perform, almost as big as The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Albeit for a good cause, the whole thing got to be so plastic and the people coming on to perform were so obviously either trying make the "big time" if they were nobody's or virtue signalling celebrities that it frankly came off as pathetic. Thanks to the crew at SCTV this skit gave some of us some satisfying closure. lol
There was a part my grandfather didn't like...on the cerebral palsy telethon with Dennis day or Dennis James ..there was a lady that came out with the little kids In Walkers and crutches and she sing a song about look at us we're walking look at us we're talking....pop pop felt it was exploitative
in 1987 when I was at the U of Toronto I was downtown and I saw Eugene Levy getting into a cab in front of the Sheraton Centre right across from Toronto City Hall. I yelled as loud as I could "How Are YA!!!" Mr. Levy looked at me and started laughing hysterically waved at me and got in his cab still laughing LOL!!!
I always fall over laughing when Sammy Maudlin (Joe Flaherty) berated the stagehand (11:28) for giving him tap water instead of "Perrier"--I guess tap water was too "low brow" for such a big star like Sammy

I'm with Johnny LaRue: How anyone could take a look at that poor, pathetic creature and not want to run down into their basement, pry open their safe, pluck out those gold bars, pack them into crates, and send them in to SCTV is beyond me as well.
Wonderful, wonderful hilarious spoof of those cringe-inducing old telethons. Seems that maybe it was inspired by the legendary Steve Allen telethon spoof from the mid-60's, the PRICKLY-HEAT TELETHON. Only thing that could've been a little better was to do more with Andrea Martin as Lorna Minelli. Or, even better, a visit from Pirini Schleroas doing her bit to support the quest for gold! --THAT would have been solid gold in itself!
Gee..I never knew that Johnny LaRue was mixed up with organized crime (21:20)-they made this huge contribution in gold near the end of the telethon-likely what pushed them "over the top" LOL
I don't care what anyone says SCTV hands down best sketch comedy show of all time
Absolutely
I love it. Insult your audience, then beg for their gold fillings! 😅😂
Few, other than Bobby Bittman, would have the grit or the justification to do so. His life is a sacrifice so that others may laugh, after all.

Me too. I just can't stomach the thought of falling for another scam.

4-12 weeks for delivery. You should have tried C.O.D.
No worries. The Pony Express has had some setbacks but the service is still solid gold. Give it another year.
I'm still waiting for FATS
When this talented group had "A" material they were better than SNL. The cheapness of the production values made it even better!
Agree. Their makeup and costumes were often better than SNL, though. The makeup folks did impressive fake noses & such.
"Better than SNL" is hardly a high bar.
@@farmbroughCry harder.
And here is “that” commemt again …
The Steve and Edie duet is solid gold.
Joe Flaherty - so brilliant, so funny - Sammy Maudlin was just one of the brilliant characters he created - Rest In Peace, Joe - thanks for all the great laughs!
I was not prepared for how hilarious that duet number was. Holy hell!

2 words Bobby bittman😂😂
Sammy's asking for gold fill ins 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You see Sammy's look on his face when Bobby told them"get the hell out of here we will get a ned audience"😂😂😂😂😂
One could only wish that real life Telethons were this good !!! LOL !!
"Steve and Edie" are AMAZING . LOVE it !!!!!

Solid Gold Telethon was my favorite extended bit.
And that Stomach Eliminator commercial wasn’t so bad either.
Always great how the actual ads seem to fit in absolutely perfectly with the satire

He may have been a hybrid.
I love how Sammy and the boys get serious for a minute .
SCTV showing how crazy, delusional and pretentious celebrities are is the best
I always loved this episode - the absolute shamelessness of asking people to send them gold to support their private company and then yelling at them when they didn't send enough - just brilliant.
Incredibly Ingenius. SCTV was Thee Best
Loved this show back in the day.
I honestly love this episode of SCTV... honestly.
I miss these days so much......😞😔😢
Lorna Minnelli cracks me up every time.
Steve and Eydie. That was brilliant!
The Steve and Eydie song.😂

The talent of the cast is incredible. It doesn't date either.
At this time, Downtown Melonville was the entertainment Capital of the world.
That was pure GOLD comedy .
A child encased in a gold box… 🤣🤣🤣

As did Krusty the Clown's telethon for motion sickness (Simpsons Season 3 Epsiode 21, "Black Widower")
Yes every year. I actually saw tony Orlando live and met him and he kissed my cheek before our pic. So sweeeet.

I remember those telethons, it was an excuse to stay up stupidly late way past our bedtime.
@@pika23Pop pop sounds alright. 👍
🥇In 2024 a ton of gold would be worth around 50 million dollars. That would be an SCTV telethon haul. 😂!
Thought the “ no stomach” ad was an SCTV skit
I thought the same.
SCTV; The most underrated/ funniest show ever!
Eugene & Catherine- ❤👏💗💕
Used to wait until Friday nights in New York. An hour and a half of laughter!
