After sleeping one night in Salerno, in this video we're discovering one of a kind Matera.
Join me on a walking tour of Matera and learn about its history, before finding out how stunning it looks in the dark.
Matera is in the region of Basilicata, in southern Italy, and it’s possibly the 3rd oldest city in the world.
It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993.

    Thanks for watching!
Note: watching back I noticed I used the wrong word. The hotel wasn’t BUILT in 1996, the building was CONVERTED into a hotel in 1996. Apologies for the confusion!

I nearly missed this one. I've only just come across it. Another wonderful, informative video. And yes, I will most certainly add this to my list. It looks like a lot of climbing though. I'll have to ask my young friend if she would like to accompany me on this one, as she loves Italy so much. This does look like one of the nicest places to visit.

Thank you for watching! 😃 In the Sassi di Matera there is a lot of climbing indeed, I confirm this, but it’s also the most beautiful village/town centre I’ve ever seen in my life!

As usual another fantastic video. I do not like the phrase "bucket list", but I must visit Matera. Doesn't look too "touristy", which I (selfishly) like.
The clip at dusk with the swallows made me "homesick" for Ostuni.
Thank you for another reason to travel.

Thanks very much Jock, I’m glad you liked the video! That’s right, it wasn’t too touristy. Yes there were visitors, but a decent number. Dusk with the swallows was special. I need to visit Ostuni sooner or later!!!

Amazing tour. Thank you! Hopefully someone carried your luggage up to the hotel lol. For over 200€ - I’m glad they had AC as well as

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!! I’m sure someone would have carried it for me had I asked for help (I hadn’t ahah - they did offer at check-out). It was 108€ per night, which I find is so little for such a pearl of a hotel 🥹 Had they not had a/c with 42 degrees outside… I wouldn’t be here to review Matera I fear LOL
