The rod is a depth stop for the TPC when using hammer mode. Well, it could be used when drilling or driving, but it's aimed at hammer mode and drilling into concrete.
This is the next Festool purchase I'm planning to make. A lot of people like the older version, the PDC, so I think this is the kind of purchase you have for a decade or longer.
This particular set isn't for me personally, but I do like the new systainers with the bit storage on top. The upcoming CXS 12 and CXS 18 have me intrigued though. Are you planning on getting those? I'm considering them, but my dewalts have been very good to me.
I saw those new drills advertised. I am not sure if I will pick them up. Both are intriguing.. Festool is leaning into growing their cordless platform.
So far I like them. They are expensive when compared to other brands. If they last for years then I would say that the difference in cost is not as big of a deal. Other brands seem to make new drills regularly. If you try to keep up with the jones you will spend more than you will for this set over time. These Festool Drills are not the most powerful. They do provide a level of control at the trigger that I do not find on my Milwaukee and or Dewalt drills. I own a Bosch Flexiclick 12 volt drill. It is very close to Festool when it comes to trigger control. That being said I prefer Festool's ergonomics over the Bosch.
I’m convinced this kind gentleman robs banks at night. Respect. 👊🏻
LOL. Thanks for the laugh!

Thanks for the information. And thanks for taking the time to watch the video.

I also considered the PDC but ultimately settled on the TPC. I am looking forward to putting it to use.

How are you liking them both since you’ve been able to use them a bit?
