    Oh my gosh, I made that same style MFT/Paulk Bench/storage center a couple of weeks ago. Have you been sneaking around my shop? 😂 Thanks for the review. I was considering this drill/driver combo, and this helped my decision.

    Under powered, way overpriced. There is absolutely ZERO reason to buy the Festool drill/driver. Literally everything including Ryobi outperforms them

    I have had many Dewalts but ended up replacing them after trying the Festool line. Festool is more refined and I really like the Centrotec system. Also they are made in the EU and not China (Do not support Human rights abusers)

      Refined is exactly the right way to put it. So smooth and Centrotec is amazing.

    Hey, nice review! I bought a few months ago the TPC set but without the TID 18 because I wanted the Centrotec Chuck with the CENTROTEC BH 60 CE magnetic bit holder (AWESOME bit holder). I used it for framing and a lot of it to renovate my second floor of my triplex with tenants on the first floor because it’s A LOT quieter than an impact driver. The fourth gear is awesome, awssome, super fast, I have screwed in close to 2000 screws so far, well worth it. I have 171 & 172 (Japan) Makita impacts so getting the TID from what I’ve heard from other RUclipsrs was kind of useless. Hopefully the next generation of TID 18 will be more powerful, then it will worth buying. Love your videos!! As of September 1st today, Festool prices increased on all of their tools.

      Thanks for sharing! That bit holder is currently on my wish list.

    When I drilled my holes into the Paulk Big Bench using the Parf Guide, I used the Milwaukee installation screwdriver since I could disconnect the end between holes instead of unchucking the bit from the hammer drill. Honestly, the Centrotec end would have been so much better since I don’t think the Milwaukee had enough power to keep up with so many holes.

      I used the Centrotec chuck on my big bench last weekend and it was a much better experience.

    Thanks for the overview!
    These two don't fit my workflow, personally. I've never needed a hammer drill and with the smaller drivers (CXS or for me, M12 installation driver) I've found myself rarely using an impact driver; those little drivers can handle 99%+ of my screwdriving needs and for anything larger I have my big milwaukee drill. I know I've said it before, but man I wish festool would update the CXS with a brushless motor and slightly beefier specs. They do have the C18, which I'm taking a long look at though.
    Catch you on the next one!

      I do really like my Bosch Flexiclick, I’m ready to go CXS whenever they go brushless, or if I just get tired of waiting. I use the hammer functionality and impact driver a lot for home renovations, deck building, and that sort of thing so this move was mostly for battery compatibility and a general improvement over my 7 year old DeWalt kit.

      @@MasonWoodshop Yeah, coming from 7 year old brushed tools to festool's latest and greatest is most definitely an upgrade. ;-)
      It's very tempting to splurge ona new cordless drill from festool, but I'm (trying to) prioritize what I need vs what would give me the tool warm and fuzzies lol

      Seems today is the day, because besides the new 18V CXS they're also coming out with a new 12V CXS.

      @@johnfstockland Yeah I just saw that over on FOG. Very intrigued. I haven't seen any official specs yet though. Since I originally posted, I did get the dewalt 5 in 1 driver and like it a lot. It's not quite as compact as the milwaukee, but the handle is way more comfortable and it is a bit shorter..

    • @johnfstockland
      @johnfstockland Год назад

      @@NWGR I'm guessing that given that it's 12V (although technically might be the same as 10.8V) and now brushless it might be a little more powerful, but not significantly. I didn't know DeWalt also makes an interchangeable chuck drill now, hadn't considered that myself (recently got a CXS and T18)

    That's a really nice tool kit just not $900 nice for me . At least not yet. It may not be as powerful as DeWalt or Milwaukee but it's still a far superior brand.

    Odd that they don't give you the Centrotec chuck in the kit.

    • @MasonWoodshop

      Totally agree. Given the cost, Festool’s focus on Centrotec, and the accessories they do include, I find it odd.

    Why do the batteries have a Bluetooth symbol?

    • @MasonWoodshop
      @MasonWoodshop  Год назад +1

      Main reason is that they connect to Bluetooth-enabled dust extractors and can turn on the extractor when you power on the tool. For the drill, this is only relevant when using their suction drilling accessory (which is amazing). The Bluetooth is very useful when using the cordless track saw.
