I also agree that Suyun and Yeonhee deserved a lot more votes. I don't know if i think there was room for them in tier 1...but close. Elly choose the wrong song and Juri choose the wrong artist to cover. Sunmi isn't the best singer nor the best dancer. Her greatness is in performance and charisma, one of the best of all time. She is allways greater then her actual songs....and that is very, very hard to compete with. You will get compared and you will fail. Juri did good vocally...but she is not Sunmi. She should have skipped the red hair as well. It just reinforced the diffrence and made it even harder to performe the song as if it was her own.
@@davidhakanssonhagman totally agree. Juri's performance was solid, but it looked like a straightforward cover without Sunmi's charisma. It's the only reason, I think, her votes were so hard (though I believe undeserved).

The Rocket Punch girl stood out to me a lot. Solid. Captivating. I personally think the scoring was wack...Especially for Suyun and Yeonhee. Either way, I hope they get more recognition throughout the show!!!

It was good but the high pitched voice in suyun performance is somewhat annoying. Though the girl can sing yes. I think she should choose her songs wisely from now on. You can't just choose a song just because u can belt it higher. It has to please humans ears too and that's where she screwed up mostly.

Also, the problem with bora is, she is so stable and dependable that everybody think she is safe, so no one voted for her, and she fell out at the final (GP999, Girls:reverse). So sad for her
That's not what happened in gp999, she was never in the top 9 to begin with
what happended in gp999 was i think everybody appreciates her and wants her to debut, but she was never their first pick so they didn't focus on her
While GP999 recognized her as a good vocalist all her storylines where more about she being a good leader/role model. Chae naturally received more votes because not only she was one of the highlights of vocal evaluation (ironically exactly the same song Bora choose here) but all the Japanese and Chinese girls that went back home told tales or her friendliness and support making she the Korean with the biggest amount of foreign votes after Hiyyih ultimately landing her the #1 spot.
@@biazachathen mnet not letting Bora in my sea group coz they know that Bora will stand out, they called Bora last to choose a song and by the time the vocal team already full😂😂😂 they left her no choice but to join a rap group. It was staged by mnet. It was all mnet's fault. They only used Bora to sing almost the vocal highlights in all their tracks. They just used her.

the updown battle is so ureliable because yes some people are voting objectively but others are using it as a strategy to bring their groups up and everyone else down

I also agree that Elly and all 3 Rocket Punch members should have had higher up ratios... Unfortunately it seems that the later the performance was in the day, the more harsh the voting started to get.

Her performance is like a mash-up of Destiny era to Beautiful Days for the stage is reminding me of Beautiful Days but then Destiny is so heartbreaking still w/ all the members sang the chorus part in the audio.

I agree with this one the most. The rocket punch girls got unwarranted low scores. Juri's confused me so much, I love her voice and didn't understand why she got so downvoted. My only guess is that it was the second half of performances, and girls were voting strategically to try and place higher by putting others lower.
I honestly think Suyun's "screaming" delivery compliments the song... Like, it's sort of in the lyrics, it's an angry song, I feel like giving it that vibe just adds to the performance so I didn't really get the negative comments about that. Also I'll confess I haven't watched almost any week 2 performances and hearing Juri's low voice for the first time was... an experience (in a positive sense!)

Oh my god yessss Suyun in top 6!! This was the exact reason I loved her performance too. Her high notes to me were satisfying, impressive and gave me good chills. I don't get the screaming/shrill/strained argument at all since that's just not how I hear it, but I guess everyone hears things differently. Love your appreciation for all the Rocket Punch members since they seem to be really underrated in the show AND by viewers! ALSO YESSSS JUSTICE FOR ELLY!!!!!!

Ok, Elly and Bora are two of my ults so having them in this competition together is crazy for me. On one hand, Bora absolutely deserves this, but Elly got done dirty. So did Chaerin honestly. Every other contestant got their whole own section except them two. They got lumped together because they got the same score. Elly also did not deserve that score. There were girls who objectively did worse than her and got better scores. She made one mistake with the lyrics and slipped once. Meanwhile Chaerin got the same score because she had two group mates vote for her despite her many mistakes, which tbf, she normally wouldn’t make. The nerves definetly got to Chaerin WAY more than they got to Elly and I know Chaerin can slay the stage, in fact, for all of Chebuls last cb she ate. And then Elly was dropped first by Bora and my heart shattered into a million pieces.
the worst part is that it wasnt a mistake, she purposely had changed one part to make it more fitting i read somewhere

I don’t understand why Juri got that much downvotes, she did so well. Same for all Rocket punch members, they were actually good.
As for JooE I’m sad for her. She must have had a problem or maybe too much stress. I would’ve died in her place if i didn’t have a company while others are active idols… she can do much better but i think she was so dissatisfied with herself during the performance.
I want to add Kei was awesome. Yes she lip synced some lines but it was a song made for multiple singers, I’m no singer myself but maybe she needed to take a bigger breaths sometimes ? Performance wise it was beautiful to watch

Cherry Bullet’s potential was wasted. They had so much attention when they first debuted and many where hyper for them. However their company ruined their momentum. They could have atleast been as famous as SF9 if they got promoted better.

What people don't realize is that song choices really matters inorder to get people's attention and really grab attention. And that's where majority of the idols screwed up on song choices like suyun, Elly, juri, wooyeon, chaerin, jooe .
I thought that Riina's voice just cracked lol, not like she hit the note terrible, it is just voice crack and it happens even with really gpod vocalists, f.e. Haewon from nmixx, queen of voice cracks.

I thought it was just me who was a bit annoyed with Jiwoo's results 😭the power of a hat 😆 loved the part when she threw the hat and started going off with the dance
honestly in terms of wooyeon's performance i don't get it. like they downvoted her because she lipsynced (she couldn't perform the note live basically) but when riina messed up her high note a little bit they all downvoted her because of one little mistake. so honestly it's a lose-lose situation. either she messed up really badly or used lipsync, and she would've been downvoted anyway.

Love your opinion post. I didnt get to watch all the perfs but heard the criticisms here and there. Its been upsetting. I think cherry bullet, rocket punch, and weki meki were all amazing groups and need so much more attention and better management from their companies. They've had so many great and catchy hits. The most satisfying member's performance for me was Juri's because she looked so charismatic and confident while performing. Being a foreigner didn't show at all and her history of idol performing really showed her comfort.

My Ranking of the 28 Up-Down Battle Performances:
1. Bora- She Ate, Period. THo I will say she def strained a bit but hey, it happens. She still gave what she needed to give, and got revenge for not being to sing My Sea previously.
2. Hwiseo- The dark horse of the season I AM ROOTING FOR!!! I mean she truly has all rounder written on her forehead.
3. Kei- To me she missed the opportunity of singing the intro part to Destiny, some of the best parts of this song she did not sing, even though she definitely could have. In fact she should've been the one singing entirely live because that would've showed off her skill, nonetheless I enjoyed her vocals a lot.
4. Suyun- I agree her pitch was a bit too high but at least it was memorable and we must commend her for not cracking despite how challenging of a song that was at her skill level. She performed a song by the idol of idols and I appreciate her boldness
5. Jiwon- Again, great vocals, especially that highnote. Her concept was also very ffitting.
6. Chaeyeon- She' no longer in the competition so I won't say much but as for now, this is where I WOULD have placed her
7. Yeoreum- THAT LIFT INTO THE AIR!?!? SOOO GOOD!! Her vocals were also very stable, making it a very solid performance.
8. Yeonhee- The way she was soooo professional despite her shoe and kept the same energy throughout the performance? Yeah that's what I'm talking about. The outfit transition was so smooth and went well with switch up
9. Nana- A very stable performance, I just liked a few others a bit more!!!
10. Jihan- She really suited pop and while she also can improve (she didn't sing the high note) she made the song WORK for her and truly captured the essence of the song, whilst still putting a bit of a spin on it.
11. Riina- Riina, Riina, Riina-... I feel so bad because I really liked the mashup and it showed her versatility, but we CANNOT ignore that technical slip up. I know she will improve tho!!!
12. Zoa- I think she gave a very good performance, she gives very much 4th gen idol and while she has room to grow I think this was a good 1st solo performance.
13. Juri- I really loved her commitment in the hair for pulling off this performance and it deserved a lot more love than it got, however she looked and sounded nervous compared to her persona off stage.
14. Jiwoo- Her hat really obstructed the performance as the other girls said, and I just think she has room to do better. I like triple S but I think she would've benefitted performing a song by a different artist.
15. Sangah- I agree she was very charismatic, and I liked her performance but another performer performed Tomboy better in my opinion.
16. Yuki- I needed to see more of her Rapping skill, but her performance was nice and unnofensive.
17. Yeeun- She was fine, again not a fan of the song choice, but she showed she had a LOT of potential in this performance.
18. Elly- She had such an infectious energy to her performance but it just wasn't that memorable IMO.
19. Miru- I loved her attitude and the fact that we KNOW the mic was on, but the performance NEEDED backup dancers!! Also she felt a bit stiff at times.
20. Dohwa- her loss of energy after her wardrobe malfunction was warranted but still sad and the outfit did not match the performance. I also just did not find it as memorable as others on this list. Respect for attempting to mix 3 songs in one performance tho!!
21. Jooe- II was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you and it-.. was not giving. WHile I personally think she could pull of a more mature concept she just looked awkward throughout the performance and had a few misteps in her choreo, her vocals also needed work.
22. Fye- WHile she has a wonderful color to her singing voice her rap RUINED her performance and she would've been better off mixing hype boy with a Korean song to try and show that she's trying her best to learn Korean, she might've messed up but it would've been better than whatever this was.
23. Soeun- While her aura def matched with Seulgi her dance performance was not as crisp as it should have been and generally there were just better performances.
24. Soojin- once again, I felt absolutely nothing during this performance but skill wise she was ok. The song suited her voice quite nicely but again, not much to do with that song and other performances left me with more.
25. Wooyeon- I feel so bad because you could tell how nervous she was performing in front of her idol, but you CANNOT perform a song by one of the most talented idols in Kpop, in FRONT of them and your peers, and barely sing. Her vocals from what we did hear was fine tho!!
26. Chearin- Whoever told her it was a good idea to perform one of Chungha's hardest, most cunt worthy tracks was setting her up!!! You CANNOT go out there and perform this type of song without MAXIMUM confidence and power/intent in every move you make and every lyri you sing. I loved her part in Snap tho so we know she can do better!!!
27. Haein- I felt absolutely nothing during this performance, her vocals were breathy in a way that I was not fond of and the outfit did not fit with the sudden switch up. (frl that outfit is bad!!)
28. Seoyeon- Like you said, she's had no training and while she certainly gave it her best and shows signs of natural talent she is severely underdeveloped in all aspects.
i haven't watched the 2nd episode yet so idk how that team pick thing works

sigh chebul's chaerin definitely could have done a lot better. i think she messed up the stage because she was too nervous and her mind went blank while performing or smth :( hope she gets to show her true potential in the coming episodes!!!! i think she did pretty well in the SNAP music video so I'm looking forward to the next episode!!

yeah I know she can do so much better 🙁🙁 im also looking forward to seeing what she brings to the table later on hopefully something like this doesn't happen again and she will be able to show off her skills more
i don't care if yeeun's song of choice was terrible, she still outslayed more than half of the other girls to me. like are we judging the songs or the performance itself? many of these girls' choices were meh as well... performing pop by nayeon for a competition??? i could accept a trainee doing that but not an already debuted idol tbh
