During the test drive of the 80 trans Am you said somebody put a olds motor in it. Rule of thumb is the Shaker says 6.6 l it is factory 403 Oldsmobile if it says ta 6.6 it's a w 72 package with the higher horsepower 400 Pontiac engine. So that 403 Oldsmobile was put in at the factory.

This could be an easy flip for someone being black and having the right options. However, That paint scares me. If it’s soft all over the car like it is on the urethane bumpers, that paint might not be able to be wet sanded and buffed, bc it
Never adhered to the body. This happened to me when I painted a trans am with a friend. We used a different brand primer and a different brand paint. Even though they were both acrylic urethane, they did not like each other, did not chemical bond to each other. I had orange peel just like this, and when I wet sanded it, it burn right through. This is a tough call. Almost looks like a Maaco 300 dollar enamel paint special that did not include hardener in the paint, with some extra money paid for some body work to be done quick.

Nice car but 20k is high because 1. windows 2. upholstery 3. paint flaws 4. a\c 5. faulty gauges 6. differential front seal 7. differential rear gasket 8. engine front main seal 9. engine rear main seal 10. trunk lock 11. hood release lever. Once you repair the engine front main seal you might as well replace the timing chain & for the rear engine main seal we all know the transmission has to be removed at that point you might as well replace the front & rear seals on the transmission as well & then I stopped counting flaws.

Great car for the money. The Oldsmobile engine was a factory offering in these cars so this is most likely the factory engine for this car. The windows are no big deal. They sell a hot wire relay kit for them that makes those windows work great. The black window trim is also correct for this car as is the gold dash and steering wheel. Should have checked in the glove box for a trunk popper. Bet you it’s there and the trunk will open. Over all a decent car. It’s all there and I’m sure a good cut and buff will have that paint shining bright.

Are you sure that isn't a 1979 Trans Am hiding behind a title that says 1980? Of course someone could have found a deal on a totaled 1977 through 1979 Trans Am with the Olds 403. and did a powertrain swap. In 1980 Pontiac offered the 301 Pontiac V8 or the Chevy 305 V8, which are more easily upgraded with a larger Pontiac V8 or a sweet stroker 383 Chevy.

Pretty sure the 403 Olds is the factory engine for that year's model. Car has a lot of potential but unfortunately that's way overpriced for the amount of work it needs in my opinion. I want it BADLY but just way too much money for it. That 403 Olds is a pretty weak engine by comparison, it definitely needs a 400 Pontiac in her. I can see the potential, it hurts me to see that car in that condition.
