This was excellent, Luke. We all need to take into consideration these 5 elements before we setup to the ball. Keep educating us on the ways to play better, much appreciated. Cheers.
3:42 - We're taking a mulligan. The graphic describing a stock 250y drive at different temperatures should read 256y at 100 degrees and 246y at 50 degrees.
Great video - I have never been more confused than ever before but still a great video. I hope that the golf nerds and +20 handicapper watching this won't slow pace down this weekend. 🤣🤣 Don't forget the earth's revolution too.
I remember Nick Price talking about the top players. He said anybody can hit it straight. LMAO. Then he said the hard part is doing it while controlling the distance.
Really fun video but some things don’t add up. You said a 5 iron at 60deg that carries 185 would go 195 on a hot summer day. Thats only true based on your own formula if it was 110deg which is a pretty absurd thing to say. Thats using the 2 yards for your driver so it would have to be even hotter for that to be true. Temperature has a negligible affect on carry distance and will most often only differ by less than 5 yards.
Interesting but to be brutally honest, I don't know any "good golfer" (or simply decent, say hcp below 7 or 8) that doesn't know or "intuit" that. Hard to play decent golf if you don't hit the right distance, given that conditions change, you need to understand how they affect your shots, and every one does it, more or less consciously.
There is a missing element- you as a human- some days you swing better than others- or you feel less physical, more tired-some days you need a bit more club. Some hilly courses mean you are more tired coming up 16, 17, 18. I’m always alert to this.
0:55 This "amateurs come up short of a GIR 70% of the time" fact I always hear is misleading. If you can hit your driver 300 yards and you tee it up on a 400 yard par 4, then top your tee ball so it goes 50 yards, on your 2nd shot you've got 350 yards to the green. You're going to come up short of a GIR. It's not cause you don't know your yardages or cause you picked the wrong club. It's cause your previous shot sucked.
Feels like quitting golf now)) Too many variables for us mortals, who rarely hit the center of the clubface, which also effects ball flight a little.. ;))
Soon it’ll be using Ai… they’ll sneak it in with their caddies and eventually the rumor will get out and then the PGA will slowly implement it into golf because “technology”.
Most golfers are not travelling the world, playing at different altitudes and in different conditions every week. That is the difference. Most of us play the same course week in, week out. Yes, this is fantastic information to put out there for those interested, but people really don't need to be worrying about this when they're out for their Sunday medal. Rounds have become long enough as it is with people sticking fingers up at the hole.
Great video ! But such a shame the US doesn’t use the metric system… Just the sentence “one yard per ten degrees Fahrenheit” is pretty difficult to convert into metric ! I know, I am not the brightest bulb in the room. …I think it translates into about 1.6 m per 10 deg celsius ?
Never stop making these Luke! 🔥
This is just pure content
I could listen to anything luke has to say

The breakdown of Scottie schefflers par 3 shot was terrific

Luke, you did a great job explaining these five elements of hitting a perfect distance.
Golf is a perfect sport for folks with a slight bit of the ‘tism. Phil and Bryson are great examples.
Everyone is on the spectrum - Thats why its a spectrum.
Great content as always. Always enjoyed Luke's accent too.
Great info. Even better with more illustrative visuals and less dude + mic :)
allways with great info...👊
Really appreciate what you do.
Thank you for watching!
what a great video thanks so much
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is such a great video. Also explains why my seven iron was going 20 yards shorter despite being flushed onto wind 😂
Glad you found it useful! - LKD

Great video
Perfect for us 18 handicappers to guarantee 6 hour rounds.
Great video 💯💯
🙌🏼
Brilliant
with the wind I was on in one on a 330 yard hole, against the wind I had a 150 yard shot in

After watching, I think I’m ready to go pro.
Most amateurs don’t hit it consistently enough for any of this to matter.

That's where the Crunchie bar comes in 😂

Don't worry, Nicklaus won 20 majors without thinking about any of that crap.

They (Tour) don’t even allow rangefinders, how would AI be allowed?

You can do all this in a matter of seconds if you apply yourself though. None of these things take lots of additional time.
@@AdFin26agreed. And he underestimates how many rich guys travel for golf quite regularly.
Watch the video next time boomer
Do you play in the same conditions, same temp, same time of day every round?
Very well said 😂

The nerd 🤓 factor of the technology ruining the sport is unbelievable. No wonder nobody watches these zero personality players anymore...
Meawhile tiger doesnt use plays like distance.. he just calculates it on feel
