I have one and just made a new rig that doesn't require an amp. I can simply run direct! The only thing I don't like is that nothing can be placed between the loops. Those things are "hardwired " in that spot in the chain. Internal effects can only be placed before or after the loops. But it did free up a lot of real estate on my board.
Brett Marlar Sorry, stupid question but how you can run direct, because MS-3 does not contain amp sims, nor cab sims? Don't you need amp or an multi-effect unit, like Atomic Amplifire, Helix or similar to connect direct to PA? Thx.
do you find similar quality effects comparing with nux cerberus. I read that overdrives are not so good because are digital (in ms3),,what you think? I know; this is more complex than Nux but maybe Nux is more practical,,,or not
The only way to use this to it's potential is to either have a high gain tube preamp (such the new Steve Vai tube pre) or your tube amp preamp section in one of the loops (via 4 or 5 cable method). You didnt actually expect the digital distortions to sound good did you?
Cars Guns and Guitars I agree. I think it's an improvement for sure but feel it's still mostly one of those BOSS multifx stomboxes with the benefit (real important addition) of the looping system. If I had some cash and wanted a bunch of sounds and/or did mostly wedding/cover gigs, this would be great, otherwise I'm more for getting just want you need...
It helps if they don’t actually try and use all those effects at once. Running mods and fxs pre and post loops 1 to 3 then delay and reverb is always going to sound like mush. JB demo at the start had almost all of the red status leds up.. in reality you’d use maybe 2-3 built in effects and one pedal loop.
this is such a monster of a unit. However, it is not very well supported by Boss. I mean the manual sucks and their 10 part explanation videos are shit. there are great videos out there. this guy is ok until he blows the cones with that ridiculous distorted mudd. I have an ms3 and I am starting to feel, after playing with it,( hours and hours. you gotta be a computer tweaker kind of person), I am discovering on my own how amazing the ms3 is. I am starting to use most of the onboard stuff and only have one loop.
Boss stuff sounds very 80's. I remember that a bunch of guys used JC-120's and Boss pedals back then and when John did the intro section, I thought I'd time-warped back to 1985 (or the future, whichever comes first). Very clean sounds, like everything Boss releases!
RE: MIDI - OK, I'm confused - Everything made sense up until they left out a MIDI IN jack, WTH?? For those of us who want program changes or CC MIDI commands from a DAW or another MIDI device, we're screwed... I'll be buying the NUX Cerberus for $100 less, sounds great.
i think there is a way, i seen in the in depth reveiw by rabea he talks how u can control the kemper by midi. but it sounds like u can use this to control ccs as well
ms3 rocks. I have my little 25watt amp in one of the loops via 4cm. It also switches the channels of my amp! rock rock on!!
I’ve got one and love it! It’s completely overhauled how I use and control my pedalboard.
Why run a external reverb pedal as opposed to using the internal reverb - is there that much difference ?

Good to see someone still using a Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer! A Fat Boost at that!!

Any issues with the Dunlop Volume pedal? It says in the manual that you have to use the Active volume pedal that they sell.
Its a great unit, I wish there was a way to download all ready made patches like other units can.
If there is I am not aware of how to.
I just got one and I’m looking forward to it
can it do parallel routing
I wonder if this can be powered by a pedaltrain volto

I can't find a video where it seems the Boss MS-3 sounds good.. is it just me?

Watch Rabea Masaad's video
THANKS, watching it now

Does it work with the large multi function pedals eg tc electronic triple delay and the strymon mobius
Flynn Hanbury Tenison - yes! I’m using mine to send MIDI to a Timeline and BigSky.
i love mine!!!

it's a GT-100 switcher.
Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Oh, shit!
woah, that's when John used to dye his hair :P good pedal, sounds FAT! BUT that stupid 27 ms of silence when going between patches is inexcusable.
Nice Dr.Marten
Not one of Bolinger's best reviews. seems like he was overwhelmed here and couldn't dial up a good tone.
The amp alone is better than those effects
yes. I agree 100%. These days, I think effects are making guitars sound like cheesy shitty music.
Hybrid clone of billy bob thornton and Tim olyphant?
Digital processing is too thin
100 bucks you can't pick out the difference in a Helix and a real amp
the worst youtube demo video, sorry, too bad, killed the pedal
